im still pissed at Celestia. Taking the memories from the effected ponies is one thing, but from bucky i get mad. I realize the security risk. But at this point im pretty sure Celestia would trust him with the information, which means she took the memories because she thought it was for the greater good, thats when i get mad. Additionally I am curious about two things. If magic accidents like these happen, why isn't there a job in the town specifically to guard against magical accident, so basically a level 3 unicorn specifically skilled at dispelling. I would think a job like that would be important, especially when you have unicorns having such repressed emotions running around with so much power. The other question is why didnt bucky attempt to dispel it? It was a spell in his book, and he was level headed enough to think that the curse needed to be removed.
Yay , tidbits about Celestia's other projects!
Why the hell does this not have more likes?
Awesome as usual, and with the way you crank out these chapters...
I'm kinda jealous~
4356278 To be fair, he wasn't exactly level headed. He was being affected by the spell just as much. The only things going through his mind were: A) My feelings are being caused by a spell, so they're unnatural, B) Twilight had a similar problem, she will know what to do.
4356278
Technically, Luna did it.
4356336 doesn't really change anything since although she expressed doubt, she didn't actually direct disapproval towards luna, nor did she tell her not to.
4356327 that's why i said that dinky got the spell from the book he brought. The idea that he would have a spell book he is teaching out of, and not know of the dangers in it is a bit hard to believe.
One could argue that he was not able to dispel it because dinky did not cast it properly, but he did not even try
So all the failed cities are just Celestia's experiments? Geez, she just sucks more and more.

Takes alicorn magic to undo that spell. Twilight could not undo it either in lesson zero.
4356393 i had actually assumed that she couldn't undo the spell because she couldn't get to the doll, rather than her magic being insufficient. If there was a spell that cause mass havoc and destruction, and could only be removed by the intervention of only 1-3 ponies alive, then i think it wouldn't be in a book that a unicorn would be using to teach foals magic. In fact i think it would be under more lock and key than the so called "forbidden spell" that causes ponies to see their worst fears.
Whats worse, a spell that scares ponies, or a continuous enchantment that cause every single pony that sees to it to want it so badly they are willing to hurt other ponies to get at it?
I still don't find Celestia's action in the previous chapters to be too bad, but it sounds like some of her decrees and laws of the past have been pointless at best and downright detrimental to society at worst. I do hope Twilight chews her out well enough, and there needs to be a repealed law or two and a serious overhaul of their child protective services.

I'm home, how many new chapters are up?
oh... three. Three new chapters.
Getting pretty good but still kind of clope
Onward to glory of plundered brownies and sugary goodness! And thus the battle of canterlot kitchen began
Ah, so Rumble has a half sister?
With each and every reveal... I want to slap Celestia more. What good can come of separating families?
goddammit Celestia when will you learn.
Not one...nor 2... but 3 NEW chapters for me to nom on...

The nesting thing is very cute:heart, it is very interessting, i like this chapter.

Well, in the first instance we see it, Twilight casts it, so we have no idea how badly she might have botched it. She's a hot mess.
This time, in story, we see Dinky cast it, and get it wrong.
Both times were extraordinary circumstances.
People keep missing that it is Bucky's personal spellbook. I did a little intentional misdirection there, so see if people were paying attention.
The spell itself might be utterly harmless when cast by proper responsible unicorns who might, say, cast it on a passing rodent to escape from the chimera chasing them through the fire swamp or a hydra out to gobble them.
It might be simple, weak, and very resistable, unless cast by a unicorn in the throes of a mischievous stage, at which point ALL magic becomes dangerous and unpredictable, to some degree.
What you see are two examples of it gone bad, hence, you've created a bias, as was pretty much the intention.
Try and see it through a different set of eyes.
Like, say, a unicorn being plagued by blood thirsty mosquitoes in need of some relief. "Oh no, you want that bowl of water over there!" with a carefully channeled and controlled spell that makes the mosquito desire to go for a swim.
And die.
Okay Ch. 30 is a decent chapter. One big typo I noticed:
also, haiku... this madness needs to stop. You are literally writing the stories faster then I have free time to read them.
That is crazy. Straight up, blue-dee-hoo crazy.
Huh, so the Thunderlane herd had another reason for keeping Rumble's parentage secret. Yeah, Equestria's foal care services are messed up.
I'm fine with herds being semi standard, but don't then reverse the discrimination and hate on pony marriage between a couple.
I'm impressed. You nicely addressed the rumble/ extra ponies from no herds plot points well.
This is my third time reading this story. So I know its not mentioned but will we ever learn more about Derpy's parents or even see them?
So, this is an incredibly esoteric play on the actual meaning of Philadelphia, right? It took me a couple of passes to notice, but that’s pretty funny.
Very intrigued now.
I got more out of this story than I thought.
I will now put thought on the uses of magic, more so than I would before.
4356336
Eh, personally, if I was Celestia, I would have at least told Bucky that she was offering to wipe the memories, and ask if there's anything important he wants recorded.
Wow. That's a nation seriously screwed up.
Those agents breaking up families... I'm bout to slap a fool in the face.
GAWD!
;n;
Nicely done, the nesting bit was cute, heeh
So there's more mares than stallions?
Brownies.
6786228 To be fair the Canon DOES seem to suggest this. Though there's never been any hard evidence.
Also this is an AU, so anything is fair game
Now knowing where Derpy got her last names, I'm guessing Dr. Whooves doesn't exist in this AU? I was confused for a bit because I thought she was connected to him in some way, since they shared names.
Trust me Luna, your guilt is nothing compared to what Ian has done. What he regrets. There is nothing that either of you princesses could have ever done that would rival what Ian has done over his first century of immortality. I will cite the death count if his time in just one universe. It is as follows:
30 Hive worlds
20 Feudal worlds
3 Forge worlds
74 Standard worlds
6 Craftworlds
2 Eldar planets (Craftworlds aren't planets, they are planet sized ships. The Craftworld Eldar and the planet-bound Eldar (don't remember the planet-bounds exact name) are different groups that live separately.)
10 Tau worlds
1 Tau Sept capital world
147 Daemon worlds
5 Space Marine Chapters
4 Necron Tomb worlds
8 Traitor Space Marine Leigons
24 Inquisitors
1 Space Marine Primarch
1 Dark God (Khorne)
372 Greater Daemons (Not counting the ones that died on the Daemon worlds)
3 Tyranid Hive Fleets
And all of that was in one universe. So yeah, Luna, in your centuries of life, neither of you have done anything close to what Ian has done in a hundred years. And he bears the burden of guilt for every single death he caused.
Yes, but there is one death that I have caused that brings me pain more than any other... The murder of my own brother by my hands, and Polaris' mind. After fifty years of searching for him in the multiverse, Polaris goes feral and kills him within a matter of days. And even more depressing, the death of my sister as she sacrificed herself for me. I will forever remember them, and they are memorialized in the script on my blades. On the Alderine Light, "Fenix, may your knowledge and wisdom forever guide me through the darkness of time" and on the Ignus Inferni, "Aedra, may your emotions and compassion forever burn bright in my memories." I miss her, I miss her with every memory I have of her. Felix was cold, unattached, harsh, knowledgeable, wise. Aedra was the exact opposite while still being knowledgeable and wise. She was also compassionate, kind, caring, nice. She was so many other things that I can't say them all with what time I have. She was such that no words can describe just how good she was. I truly miss her, and if there was any way to revive her full consciousness, I would do it without a second thought... I am sorry for getting off topic, Perceiver. I just really miss Aedra.
You do not need to be sorry, Ian. I never even met her, and I miss her...
