Rocketmare... burnin' through the atmosphere...
............................................
Edit: This is going to end SO badly for Celestia.
"I expect honorable combat in the dueling league, use this match as an example of what's expected."
*Fighters proceed to give each other titty twisters, suplex each other, and fart on the other's head*
It will be a most... interesting dueling league indeed.
Oh............oh..........omg

That was my intention. Celestia got to see that her beloved former student has learned much from Bucky. Think about Sunset in the Tower of the New Moon when she faced her demon doppelganger. She is clearly War's apprentice.
We know, Kudz. We know.
Seriously kudz, put that in your bio or something.

He is NOT immortal. Let's clear that up before people get the wrong idea.
Cue parents outraged that Little Sally Hoofboots came home with pink eye because she set fire to some poor colt's tail in the duel and got faceblasted.
“Never, Sunset Shitter!”
Lol
the kudz moto
love every single chapter except this one. bucky should have won. cos celly needs to lose every time.
im lying. i still love this one
6964828 I actually have a question about that.... Does Sentinel have Demi-Alicorn Longevity now? You know... not Immortal like Luna and Celestia, just longer lived.
EDIT: Best comparison would be going from a pony lifespan, into a dragon lifespan.
........ well that got.... improvised.
And yet again, Celestia has absolutely no qualms about publically disgracing him and dragging his name through the mud as long as she finds it amusing in the moment.
I know you're trying to push the whole 'those darn nobles were just so mean it gave her brain damage' thing, but it's increasingly hard to try to sympathize with her when her wailing and gnashing of teeth in regards to how saaaaad she is about what she's done to him and how she's ruined his reputation gets interrupted almost weekly by what seem like her absolute best attempts to publically demonize and humiliate him, often times simply because she finds it funny.
Even here, where it's obviously a HORRIBLE idea ("Yeah, that's just the boost his reputation needs before trying to lead an army, being turned into a foal and beaten up by a filly! That won't be demoralizing for the ponies risking their lives tomorrow!"), she jumps in with all four hooves, whistling happily because she can't see beyond her own immediate wants, even if it would damage her plans and risk lives.
That being said- If they're going to kill her so they can have her reborn without the brain damage making her act like a sociopath, why are they letting her rule in the interim? Why does "She has brain damage, we need to kill her to fix it" not translate as "Oh wow she should probably not be in charge right now"?
I mean, there are a million and a half reasons she shouldn't be in charge, but 'she has brain damage' seems almost as urgent as the old big reason, 'she committed nearly every crime the nobles did but abolished the laws before she could be charged rather than take responsibility'
Okay, so this might be as weird question, but Cadence has her Love Boop, Fluttershy her Kindness Boop, Bucky has a cold Boop (Chaper 875), do Sentinel, Apple Bloom, Celestia, Luna, and Twilight have their own 'Boops'?
Honestly, this was kind of my least favorite chapter. Celestia is as always a total bitch who needs to learn her place, and Bucky now looks weaker in front of his family and his school. She has in her selfish and self centered way taken time, what little time Bucky has left, from him. For what? a display that means nothing other than humiliation for a good pony.
6965153
It can be argued that this is a strategic move on her part. Bucky scares most sentient beings by what he does and who he is ('Alicorn of War', 'Lord of Winter', etc.). By making him look the fool in public, it does make it harder for everypony/birdy/etc. to be scared of him. And it also makes him more of a regular old pony in their eyes.
Also, I doubt that Celestia would truly disgrace him in public, but I don't think she has any qualms about having fun at his expense. Just like he doesn't have qualms about that.
6965153
And this is a case of bias.
Celestia can't be blamed for what happened here.
What she wanted a light hearted duel between her two chosen champions. A little bit of humility for the Lord of Winter. She wanted others to see him in a better light. She wanted others to see an actual duel where a few zap spells were exchanged, a shield spell was performed, and there was some semblance of adherence to the rules.
What she got was something else entirely. Something she had no control over. Something that she had no conceivable sense of responsibility for. She had her expectations shattered against the rocks.
What she did get though, is a public example that her two chosen champions are tenacious fighters that will try to win at any cost. That's a pretty good thing, for a nation at war.
As for your other queries... you will have to wait. Those are integral to the story and will be dealt with in time. An apt reader paying attention might notice that the problem has been addressed for quite some time now and slow, careful, measured steps are already being taken. A biased reader is only looking for the little bits that support his or her argument towards whatever end.

Cadance's love tap is a spell... a pulse of magic that she shoots from her horn.
It's dangerous, because it causes a fierce amount of love in an area, feelings of amorousness, causes fertility, tends to defeat birth control, etc. Nobody around her has quite caught on just yet how dangerous her little love tap spell is just yet.
6965242
This, more or less. This right here.
She was trying to show the world around her that her nephew can be a good pony.
What she wasn't expecting was that her niece has spent far too long under War's tutelage.
See: Sunset Shimmer vs her She Demon Doppelganger for reference.
Notice what Sunset did here? The titty twister? At some point, long ago, she and Bucky used to be nice ponies...
6965241
She hasn't taken any time from him... what are you talking about?
That doesn't even make sense. His lifespan remains the same as it was.
What she provided was a time for him to let his mane down, have a little fun, and not stress out about the coming invasion. This was a distraction.

6965153
A moment if I may.
There is a lot of unreliable narration in this story. A ton of it. Misleading and misdirection.
The way that others see Celestia looks bad, because it is supposed to look bad. Yet, if one is paying attention, we see glimpses of her for how she really is. The long term strategist that held on through impossible odds. She manifested the Element of Magic... through sheer act of will, she brought Twilight into the world so that the world could be corrected and not die. There has been plenty of little peeks just like this one throughout the entire story. Everything has been a long term gamble. The Crusader Project, as mentioned in the very first few chapters of the story, bore fruit. Growth was brought into the world because of her planning, and Hearthfire returned. These are no accidents. These came about because of planning, of striving, of working hard to ignore the short term gain and focus entirely upon long term results.
You cannot always judge a character based upon how other characters see them, speak about them, etc. Unreliable narration is just that. Unreliable. And it is foolish to make snap judgments based upon unreliable narration. It is always useful to go deep into the narrative and find the truth that is buried there.
Celestia, as I have stated many, many times, is the hero of this story. And when everything is said and done, she will be vindicated.
6965267 What I meant by time, is. Even as Bucky said, he could have been spending that time chasing his wives, making love, hanging out with his foals. Rather now he is caught up in a fight he didn't really want to do, as a foal forced on him by somepony else's magic.
Hehe sorry, Bucky really is one of my most favorite OC's ever.
6965369
Instead, another pony that Bucky also loves dearly got to spend a little time with him. Some much needed time.
In theory Sunset have more advantage, that was supossed to be a "Magic Duel" but Sunset changed it to a Physical battle, and Bucky don't have too much muscle compared to her.
6965461
They both went for flash bang fancy magic and depleted their mana reserves all too soon. All that was left at that point was mortal combat.
Regular foals might be able to keep going for a good long time with minor cantrips and spells.
6965262 Where the heck did this come from?
6965554
An earlier chapter in The Chase. 787 I think? The Tower of the New Moon tests. Which were kind of a big deal, but I figured that nobody would be paying much attention.
6965285 The issue with that is that the awful shit she does far outweighs the rest. There are these little moments of 'Oh maybe she's not entirely awful-' and then she does something even worse to someone she has a duty of care to and all the supposed self sacrifice just begins looking like more attempts at masterminding for her own personal gain. It even begins looking like she didn't even DO all that 'holding things together' and just let the nobles run rampant all over the common folk, just doing enough to make sure they couldn't simply kill commoners for looking at them wrong while raking in dragon-sized hoards of blood money.
And as for the fight, she put a poisoned, stunted foal's magic up against magic she'd trained for YEARS by that age. She wanted him to lose, and lose bad. She made it abundantly clear that she threw him out in the ring to lose and to score a petty vengeance for winning the first fight. That's a second one of her 'fun little plans' that got 'out of hoof' at somepony else's expense in almost as many chapters.
You're going to have to pull one hell of a reveal to vindicate this sociopathic monster you've created, because Celestia is as far from a hero as the Other Sombra right now.
6965564 Oh, oops I guess it's been a while since that arc and I kinda forgot what happened. Thanks for the reminder.
6965566
She is a flawed, broken hero. A tragic figure. She isn't meant to be perfect, she's just as broken as most of the other characters. But like a phoenix, she will rise triumphant from the ashes...
6965614 Again, hats off to you if you can manage it, but as it stands that's a magic trick I doubt even David Copperfield could pull off.
6965654
I don't want to go into spoilery details, but we can't always change the past or what was. Sometimes, all we can do is be reborn for our future.
That was... Sunny did her duty with some rooty tooty dirty booty. I was at one point almost expecting Bucky to cast the terror turd spell on himself just to return fire with a new weapon. There's something wrong with you, Kudzu. I struggle with having enough popcorn available as I watch it all.
'Immoral Combat' would work as a better ch. title, but this isn't my story now is it.
I didn't like that fight. Seemed too one-sided.
That gave me chills.
As "War", Bucky intuitively knows how to counter any strategy, any tactic, on any battlefield.
So learning that he is completely defenseless against "Love" and "Kindness" is very telling.
(Sorry, my comments seem to double-post with alarming frequency)
And this is for a previous chapter anyway, but Dinky and Piña's conversation was very haunting:
Like, JEEPERS man!
I'm very cold-resistant, but all these chills are getting to me!
And Bucky finally comes to a smelly 'END'!
Bucky needs to learn that foal reversion spell...and trounce Tia with it!

Oh Dear Faust you said it...fly you fool, Fly!!!
*in the distance you hear the distant rumble like an earthquake, and the sounds of fanatic screaming*
Run you fool, They Come...
