Inb4 things go wrong, also i'm kinda disapointed bucky is so small
If you're going to destroy a city, turn it into a lake of molten building materials.
poor bucky... his size complex grows
5567669
Perhaps he should see a shrink?
Eeeeeyikes.
5567672
Luna's lightning breath reminds me of Ghidorah.
And today´s lesson is: DON´T FUCK WITH YOUR GOD !!!!!
No, really, mind manipulation and madness counted and all, who, in his right mind, would make your own god so mad at you to the point where he would, personally, set notice that, if you stay in some place, such place would be sheredded at atomic levels, to the point where you can´t find two atoms still holding together at all !?
sounds like the Minotaurs need a dovahkiin
5567672 It's not that big an issue really, He'll grow out of it.
5567743 Cocoflash, I strongly recommend you to watch the movie "Hero".
Spoiler alert, even though it´s not a new movie !
In the movie we have some similarities with your idea. Tiranical government, killing anyone stand its way but, in the end, when our not-named hero (his name is never mentioned) have a chance to kill the evil lord...he realizes that the evil lord is, even through killing, reuniting the nation again, turning it in a powerfull country....and he does the only honorable thing...he let himself be killed in the name of the greater good.
"There is good news. You no longer have to wonder where your gods are! Cause they're right here! And they're fresh outta mercy!"
5567829
Your link has failed.
5567833 Yeah. I see that, and for some reason, I can't fix it.
You know, I truly wish I could stand and watch this. How truly awesome wouldn't that be? What could possible inspire more awe than gods wrath upon a large city? What could possibly be more than that?
A work of art.
"Aye lad, Dragons are powerful things. Near unstoppable, or they are if you don't know their weaknesses. Each one has something that will bring it down. For some, it's a small unarmored place, something you'd never expect, and for others... It's through their maw. Ye have to be insane to take on those and live. But the man who does... They sing songs about him lad. They sing songs about that crazy son of a bitch."
Something from an original work. I thought that it fit. So, Bucky, Luna, and Scorch destroyed an entire city, and did so in the shape of dragons. The guns where of little use, but then guns would be, unless of course they where Anti-aircraft, and even those would be iffy. Something tells me that before everything is said and done that one of the worst things ever created by man will be unleashed. Instant death to thousands if not millions. The unstoppable force of the atom being split.
When reading about Luna going in as "The Electric Death" is it really ...really bad...
... that this song plays in my head?
See, this is far more rewarding than just spell nuking the place. With facing dragons it gives the minotaurs time to watch their hope die. To be honest that's probably the worst thing you can take from a living being. I think I'm gonna read that chapter again, I like to imagine myself celestially observing the carnage as I sit in my seat eating popcorn. The glow of the fire is cozy, the screams set on repeat are soothing.
Ten outta ten, would holocaust again. ^.^
I really thought that at the sight of three dragons, one a thousand feet long, that maybe some of the minotaurs down there would go, "Hey, maybe this three foot fancy stick i'm holding won't save me from that."
Hm... So in this you've got three different temperaments of the exterminators here. Scorch, who regrets that it's come to this and finds it abhorrent but necessary, Bucky, who can't bring himself to care about the minotaurs but who also doesn't seem to enjoy it, and Luna, who revels in her death-dealing ability without the others being able to even resist.
5567993
People got brave against Godzilla too.
5567947
Just imagine what happened to those poor sons of a bitches who Bucky tore their buildings from the ground and then dropped them into the lake of molten city. They likely could literally probably count how many seconds they had left to live as the building melted into the Lava as they got closer to it until it finally took them whether from the heat killing them or being melted alive.
Hell, refer to several of the Movies from the Late 90s early 2000's of City's being destroyed by active volcano's and look for scenes like I described to just imagine what it was like for those minotaurs./
5568163
Quick, run up the stairs and head for the roof! Faster!
5568166
And I say any stupid enough to think that would save them deserve to die even more.. As if getting to the top of the melting building would keep them alive long enough for everything to cool off and stop melting.
5567686 hahah epic
5567686
I am disappointed by the lack of Captain Jean Luc Picard Facepalming.
The (. . .) is disturbing to me. Normally that means an unfinished thought that will be continued in the next chapter. I have a bad feeling about this.
Then again, I could be wrong. Please don't let me be anything but wrong.
Like they say: "Trifle not with the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup."
Pop guns vs. dragons == bows & arrows against the lighting. Or in this case lightning, ice, and fire.
If Spike should call Scorch 'Grandpa' from now on?
5567885
And if you manage to kill one, make sure that during bathing in its blood to make you invinsible no linden leaf keeps one little place on your body vulnerable.
I would have thought that Scorch would be comparable to Ancalagon the Black in dragon-form.
5568482 i don't know, if they got a sniper with a advanced (comparatively) rifle, a shot to the eye could -potentially- bring one down.
5568875
As the author, I have to say, no it wouldn't.
In Bucky's case, the dragon body isn't real. It is a construct and distinctly separate from his real body. Given enough time and damage, the dragon body would just vanish and Bucky would be just fine, his real body completely untouched.
In Luna and Scorch's case, there are powerful magical fields protecting them and making them near impervious.
So... to summarise, shooting them, any of them, is a bad idea.
its sort of like avatar
the original body is safely tucked away while the mind inhabits a false body capable of much more than the original
except in avatar the body was in a machine far away
here it is in a pocket dimension of sorts and if the false body dies the real body appears in its place
i see a possible danger but it would take skill to pull off
kill the false body then kill the real body when it appears
the skill is in killing the false body then aiming fast enough to kill the real body before he can teleport/run away
5568482
Lightning, Ice and Fire?
Is that a reference to one of the Pokemon movies I see?
5568045 Yeah, I'm gonna need some citation on that.
5568886 A ..very valid point. one i had not considered.
Edit: valid pointSSSSSSSSSSS
5569251
Scorch kept his promise.
Bucky will be returning home unscathed.
5569255 Need a stained glass image of the puddle of labyrinthia.
Never forget and never repeat.
Oh, and I must reaffirm my disgust at the destruction of this city. Not that it happened, because nothing changes the fact and my disgust can simmer for a while; instead, I do not approve of their methods. Dragons are all well and good, but as far as style goes, it's so bland and cliche that they be seen as engines of destruction. Why not a single giant eagle made of magic? Or a Aurora of hellfire that rains from the sky? Why not something nice looking instead of dragons?
5567885
Type 4s and Type 5s are already capable of nuclear reactions, I believe.
Does anyone else notice that Omnicorn Galaxia Creatorpants favors ponies, and that we now have lost the griffon and minotaur homelands/capitols, forcing the griffons and minotaurs to effectively be absorbed into the Sea of Grass and Equestria? Not being bound by petty temporal constraints like decades or centuries or even millennia, how likely is it that Omnicorn's devised all this and that -everyone- is still dancing to Its tune?
5569551
The minotaurs still have their homeland. Just Labyrinthia is gone.
5569530
Type threes of exceptional skill can do it.
5569471 Because their enemies are apparently too stupid to see the sense of anything that isn't straight up and simple.
5569530 i believe ut was mentioned in the story that even stronger type 3's (such as lyra) could manage it when they were discussing hte possible repercussions of their actions and Celestia's REACTION to the things they did in the Shetlands.
edit: slow reaction is slow. need sleep.
5570000 I really don't see how you can say they're stupid here. It's not like they showed any direct actions that said they were unintelligent.
5569471 function over form this time. I agree however, tis' a pity a more... eloquent method was not employed. Symbolism only gets one so far.
5570242 But symbolism means so much more. Dragon attacks meld together after a time, and eventually who's to say it really was Luna, Scorch and Bucky who razed the city? It could all be dragons they sent, or it may be allegory about their actual destructive power, but dragons are so trite that stale crackers have more of a crunch.
5570249
I'm not seeing how a dragon attack is stale to beings living where they can be attacked by dragons. There's a reason that almost every fantasy continuity has the concept of "dragonfear". But bland? This is about getting the job done and sending a message.
Making an arts and crafts project out of it shows the world that you are insane and unstable and have no concept of the love of life. That should be horrifying on the level of "I don't want to piss them off, but I also don't want to be anywhere near them in case they decide my head looks tasty." Which is counter-productive to the long-term goal of global harmony, where everyone is at peace with one another and can trust one another because that peace is damn near unbreakable. The last time Bucky did something similar, Pinkie got laid. ... I mean, they had to fix Pinkie, what with his mad murder-giggling.
None of which I'm saying is a bad thing. Personally, if I had a choice of how to do it, I'd make a festival of the damn thing. But I can put aside my personal interests for the sake of far-reaching political and tactical acumen.
On extended thought, this is more personal for them. They're killing these people themselves. Claw and fang and breath. This helps ensure that while they are doing this thing, they understand the loss being incurred in the field. It helps to make sure that the people who are signing the orders to wipe places off the map aren't just seeing enemies as 'enemy casualties' but rather that these are people who gave their lives for whatever they believed in, be it evil or just sheer misguidance. You can hate the person, but at least honor the life that is being spent. The best way to do that is to meet them personally, and end their lives as such. Otherwise it's just... numbers on a report.
I am really dissappointed in these minotuars. For a race that I seem to remember was blessed with the knowledge of engineering they sure didn't think about this battle very hard. I mean at least bring out something that will make a God flinch! Jesus crisco what did they expect? The puppy brigade?
But most of all I'm dissappointed in the three Equestrian combatants. Blood and ice can be cleaned up, but do you have any idea how hard it is to get melted city out of carpet? Impossible, it'll take up your entire weekend!
I can't wait to see the political implications of melting a damn city. It's one thing to say you are going to raze a city, and another to reduce it to sheet of volcanic glass...
And with that, 3 of the most powerful beings on the planet let lose Fire, Ice, and Lightning upon the foolish residents of Labyrinthia, Pure and unmatched power prevails once more.
