read more chapters, the whole 2 1/2 million words is starting to sink in, but it's a great story! protagonist suffers from being both a bit of a push-over and a dick but i'm still enjoying his prospective.

I've read the first chapter of the madman story and I remember why I never read past it now. Don't worry, i'm going to keep reading, I just know why I didn't earlier. Stories that start out by claiming that everything you read is going to be a falsehood make me care less about the story. Luckily, this story seems written well so I don't think I'll worry about that.

Have you read mordane stronghoof? It's a alicorn insert story so take it with a grain of salt but if you like development it really gets engaging and exciting.
