I enjoyed seeing how everybody in town ships Naruto with Rarity. I also found the appearance of NM in the story to be more epic than its canon counterpart.
My favorite part of this chapter was Nightmares fight against Celestia, hands down. The fact you brought the Alicorn amulet into this story, and gave it a backstory to is what I loved the most. I always wondered where it came from, but unfortunately they didn't give us one so it's nice to see this story gave it one. I do wonder where Ombra plays into this though, guess I'll have to read on to find out.
I wonder if they like golf...I mean, they do fly and all...
You know after watching the show from season 1 to 5 I have too say that Nightmare Moon's depiction in the show is probably the weakest out of all the villain roster. Heck, Sombra's 15 minutes of fame was more engaging and that two-parter is a mess as an episode. Of course this was the beginning of the show but Nightmare Moon really just came off as a blowhard with some illusions here or there. Definitely not on par with the backstory's of Discord, Sombra, or Tirek who were basically dictators.
Pinkie's flashback of meeting Naruto was a charming read and just about what I would expect when meeting Naruto during his first day in Ponyville. After that Twilight's party itself was definitely more fleshed out then the episode itself and giving some cameos to the background ponies was nice. Coming back and rereading Naruto "play" confessions to Rarity was a funny experience since they were a perfect setup for when they finally hooked up together and was such a refreshing main pairing to begin with.
Now for Nightmare Moon and Celestia's battle I will say that it was actually nice reading about this confrontation instead of the old, "ta-da here's Nightmare" routine that the show and other authors seem to use when they redo the first episode. I feel that by not showing the confrontation is actually one of the factors that pushed fans into seeing Celestia as either worthless or a manipulative troll. We're talking about the ruler of the country who is a freaking goddess basically going along with Nightmare Moon's plan of exiling her to the Sun with little argument. Sure its was probably bad foresight but after that slight against her record the writers have yet to improve her decision making when threats pop up.
Anyway, Nightmare Moon's introduction here was quite well done and the characters response to her arrival was way more realistic then, "le gasp evil pony princess!" One major detail was having the guard actually do something rather then stand there stupidly waiting for the Mane 6 to act. I felt that from just the hints we have here that Nightmare Moon is still better then the mouthpiece from the show since she actually gives off the evil vibe instead of the child friendly version we have from the show.
Crap, things just went downhill fast!

Exactly how you would expect a first meeting between Naruto and Pinkie would go, happy and playful on Pinkie's part and confusing and embarrassing on Naruto's part. Good practice proposal for the real thing later on. Nice job explaining Naruto's view on Friendship with a small nostalgic glimpse into Naruto's past. And speaking of nostalgia Celestia visiting her old castle for who she knew was coming probably stir up a lot of old good and some painful memories. The fight between the two was epic and amazing and what you expect from two goddesses even if Celestia lost on purpose. Here Nightmare Moon's first appearance is more menacing and what you'd expect from an evil goddess but at least the royal guard actually put up a fight. It makes a lot since that she would use her power over dreams to amass a army over the years large enough to help her takeover equestia.
