Tobias has lived in Ponyville for almost two years now. He's been holding onto his secret, even though his friends keep worrying more about him every day. He focuses on the different jobs he does around town, trying to get by one week at a time.

Prince Antares, formerly the human TD Powell, has ascended to rule Equestria alongside Celestia and Luna to form the Equestrian Triumvirate. Taking his residency in Baltimare, Antares comes into his role as smoothly as he can, given the circumstances.

Convinced that he's either dreaming, stoned, or insane, he tries to go along with it as best he can, although the voice in his head, a very angry voice with a hunger for conquest, crystals, slavery, and stairs, isn't doing much to instill confidence in his own sanity...
