An unknown force is lurking in the shadows of the city of Canterlot, granting it's residents supernatural powers. These powers are like nothing Sunset Shimmer and her friends have ever seen before as they use a bizarre type of magic, simply know as a "Stand".

The only way to fight these magical apparitions is by obtaining one of your own. The girls must find and learn how to use these Stand powers in order to defend themselves and their home, but just who is responsible for the sudden appearance of these powers and for what purpose?

Soul Writer moves to a new town with his mom while his dad is still in service in the old town they were in and becomes part of the Canterlot High family. He'll be able to make new friends and have the fondest of memories. But right now he faces his biggest challenge: Does he have a crush on Sunset?

Vinyl goes to band camp. She meets Octavia, a shy girl. She puts out the effort to get Octavia to talk to her, and a fast friendship forms. After spending a summer together, one of them may be falling in love.

They also have to play harder music, but that's not what this story is about. This story is about an introverted DJ with an extreme alter-ego who is looking to catch the eye of a famous cellist, a lyrist trying to win over a candy maker at the mall, and something about how love is never easy or straight-forward.
