Chapter 266 - The Evil Castle Rises

And so now, the villains have set the stage.

You were forced to stand there as Tirek focused on the staff, staring at it quizzically, mumbling to himself. He sent Cozy off to the school lab to bring him a few simple supplies. You could see an uneasiness in his demeanor as he continued to gaze upon the staff.

“Hm, how curious. I wasn’t aware the Staff of Sacanas could be mutated like this.” Tirek let out a light chuckle. “To see it now… If only I was aware it could become this way… Hmmm”

“Hey! Asshole, hate to ruin your staff fetish over there, but you’re an idiot if you’re gonna trust her. You’re Tirek, right? Since when did you take orders from a foal?” You growled towards him.

“Hm?” Tirek turned towards you, unamused and uninterested. “What was that, outworlder? Betrayal? Orders?” Tirek paused for a moment, then chuckled. “Oh, I see. Hoping to get into a conversation of either me betraying her or vice versa, an admirable attempt at deception. Were you going to tell me, Lord Tirek, that by the end, we’d have no reason to be partners anymore and that we’d be at each other's throat for control of Equestria? Or perhaps you wanted to tell me how and why my previous attempt failed, and give me an edge on the foal? I’m close, aren’t I?”

What?! How did he know?! Cozy, she must have… How?! How was she able to plan so far ahead?! You were stunned silent.

“Yes, I’m shocked at myself as well.” Tirek said, taking your silence as being correct. “But you see, outworlder, this is different. To the point I didn’t believe it myself until this very moment. Dimensional theory, to think that all this time, that idiot was capable of proving it true. You, outworlder, had knowledge of the going-ons of this world flowing inside your head. That is how you adapted so well to Equestria, isn’t it? Oh yes, it’d take the knowledge of somepony like that to know how to reform the queen of the changelings herself. You, outworlder, hold the knowledge to control fate, to know how to manipulate the world to your choosing.” Tirek then burst out laughing. “And yet, you are an even bigger fool than Discord! Why would you share that knowledge with anypony? How could you let such important knowledge just slip out like it was idle gossip? Betrayal, anger, arrogance, revenge… The ingredients to the downfall of every one of us. Even that monster, Grogar, fell victim to it. Who would have thought that to win, you just had to let it all go. Our heroes will play the game the only way they know how, and one by one, they’ll fall.” Tirek then reached down and gave you a gentle pet. “How’s that? Does that satisfy your curiosity? Consider it a kindness, as you’ll be taken care of once you’re of no use to us.”

You did, you really did. Jimmy, he had nearly won as well, covering every avenue except the one he couldn’t possibly had known about. But how could you have known that it would have led to this? How were you supposed to realize that Cozy Glow would be able to use this information so effectively?! It seems Cozy didn't tell him you knew all this from the show itself, though that may have not been prudent in the scheme of things.

Wait… Information. There was one thing, one thing that could save this. Even Chrysalis, at this point, knew how frivolous being evil was due to it bringing Equestria into a cold death. “S-so you think you got everything figured out? You’re the idiot, Tirek! So let’s say you do win. Then what? What happens to Equestria? What happens to you? You seem pretty scholarly for being a buff asshat. You know what will happen, right? Why would you do this knowing what would happen?”

“Ah…” Tirek rubbed his forefinger and thumb together as he looked at them boredly. “You refer to the windigos. I appreciate your concern, outworlder, but I can assure you that is nothing to worry about.”

What?! “Bullshit! You can’t stop the windigos without harmony and friendship! You can’t possibly think you can just stop them? Chaos magic can’t stop them, you know that, right?”

“More than you know. However, I don’t need to explain anything further to you, it would just be a waste of breath.” Tirek said with a self-satisfied huff. “It is a shame, though. All of this, it just takes the fun out of it.” Tirek then shrugs. “Ah well.”

“Mister Tirek! I brought the things!” Cozy said joyfully as she hovered into the courtyard. She was wearing a blast shield, had large dragon claw-like gloves on her back, and a huge set of tongs between her hooves. “We’re ready for horn fusyusion!” She said with cheer before accidentally bumping into Tirek. “Oops! Sowwy, I could barely see with this thing on.”

Tirek let out a huge groan as he swiped the items from her. “First of all, it is called fusion. And second of all, I am not ‘Mister’ Tirek. I am either Tirek, or preferably, Lord Tirek. We may be partners, but I won’t suffer such childishness.” Tirek put on the blast shield over his face, and forced the gloves onto his burly hands. He then took the tongs, and grabbed the horn with them.

“Golly, can I call you Lord Mister Tirek instead?” Cozy said with a genuine smile. “It’ll help make us feel like best friends!”

“No! It’s either Tirek, or Lord Tirek! How would you like it if I called you scum as your nickname?” Tirek said with a growl.

Cozy thought about it, then gave him a sweet smile. “That’d be alright as long as that’s my nickname. The most important thing about our friendship is that we’re honest with one another and that we trust each other. You do trust me? Don’t you? Mister Lord Tirek?” She fluttered big sad eyes at Tirek.

Tirek grumbled and turned around, holding the tongs up. “Fine, whatever, Mister Tirek it is. The less I have to hear that kind of speech, the better. Now give me a moment, this is a very delicate process.”

“Alrighty!” Cozy said as she turned towards you with an evil smiling glare. “Having fun, Anon?”

“You’re a coward, Cozy. What, you couldn’t deal with me personally?” You said, glaring back at her.

“Gee golly willikers, that would mean I’d have to get nasty and violent! I’m just not that way, Anon. At least, not yet. It’s gonna be fun breaking you, do you know that? You’re only step one to our plan. Daddy Discord is part two. And part three is…” Cozy stopped, and giggled at herself. “Oopsies, almost spoiled the biggest surprise!”

“Fuck you and your surprises! What, you’re gonna use me as bait?! Even with the staff, if you’re using my horn to power it, Discord can cut it off in an instant! And you can’t tell me chucklefuck there can take him on, he isn’t even near full power. You’re fucked!” You shouted at her.

Tirek looked back, lifting the blast shield, and giving you an annoyed stare. “He’s starting to annoy me. Why don’t you just gag him?” He then went back to his work, carefully holding the horn towards the staff.

“Aww, then it wouldn’t be any fun! As for your daddy, it’s true, we won’t have enough chaos power to stop him. And it is also true Mister Tirek isn’t strong enough to stop him either! But there’s more than one way to skin a draconequus.” Cozy said with a creepy snicker as the staff began to glow and spark an ominous red.

“Ngh, it is giving off too much power! Even when I get the horn on it, he’ll know much too soon! We’ll need to have an alternative plan, and make way to the forest!” Tirek yelled as he pressed the horn onto the staff, the staff screaming and sputtering as it began to spark. “I told you we should have experimented!”

Cozy just stayed silent, staring at you as her eyes seemingly glowed along with the staff’s spark. She kept staring until the sparks stopped.

“There, the staff has been fused to the horn.” Tirek said as he removed the blast shield, looking at the staff with pride. “Truly a marvel. Now, let’s get going. We don’t have any t-WHAT?!” Before Tirek could grab you or the staff, Cozy immediately grabbed and hugged onto it.

The ground immediately began to shift under all of you as black stone pillars, walls, and turrets of a castle began to twist and rise from the ground. Tirek looked upon the filly, who stared back at him with a maddened look. “What are you doing?! Forget Discord, everypony is going to know we’re here! We don’t even know how stable that thing is!”

Was she fucking crazy?! She just dove into it! She just went and grabbed it without a second thought. But even as Tirek called out to her, she just hovered along as the three of you were rising on a stone platform, the school bursting and breaking as a castle began to rise. She was just staring, with a cruel smirk, until finally the three of you found yourselves in a pink throne room, with two plush thrones, a ton of dolls of various ponies found in Ponyville, and dolls of the alicorn princesses hanging above like hanged men, with smiles on their faces. The walls were lined with various pictures of Cozy and Tirek, and you found yourself suddenly stuck in a cage, hanging beside the thrones.

“There we go! Our very own castle! Don’t we have the cutest throne room?” Cozy said as she happily hugged onto the staff.

Tirek growled as he snatched it from her, and pointed at her in anger. “Are you insane?! We haven’t prepared for this, we haven’t tested if the staff has any ill effects on us! And now everypony within miles knows we’re here!” Tirek pointed towards the windows of the throne room, as banners hung from the sides of the ramparts. “You have my insignia on those banners! You’re practically advertising our plans!”

“Well, for one, thankies for worrying about me. But as you can see, I’m fine.” Cozy said with a giggle as she span around to show she was okay. “And for two, that’s exactly what we want.”

Tirek was heavily confused by this. Even you were.

Why would she d-. Ngh! Your codec, it was going off. He was already trying to call you. If only you could reach it, you could warn him. As you tried with all your might to move your hoof, Cozy just turned to look at you.

“Looks like Daddy Discord is already on the move.” Cozy said as she swiped back the staff in Tirek’s surprise.

“Of course he is! What are you thinking?! How does this, in any way, get us to our goal?!” Tirek yelled, demanding answers.

“Mister Tirek, all that testing you wanted to do is reeeeaaallllly boring. And besides, we already have everything we need. You’ll bait Discord when he arrives, and after we’re done with him, I’ll bait Pwincesssssss Twilight! See, if you’re confused, how do you think they feel right now? The less time we give them to figure things out, the easier it’ll be to control them.” Cozy looked up, staring at the hanging Twilight doll. “Trust me, I know how these things work.”

“So you’re using me as bait, then?! How exactly does that work in our partnership, hm?” Tirek asked, demanding answers.

“Well, the more time we spend arguing, the less time we’ll have to make it work. You’re the big bad, Mister Tirek, the scariest one of them all. I’m just a little innocent filly. Discord will be too busy thinking that flux of magic was you before he even realizes it was the staff.” Cozy explains.

“And what about him?” Tirek pointed back at you.

“What about him? He’s bait, then trash. You don’t mind being trash, do you, Anon?” Cozy said, looking back at you with a cheery smile.

“Discord won’t fall for it! You’re an idiot, Tirek! She’s going to let you take the fall! This is how she’s going to get rid of you! You can’t be this idiotic, right?!” You shouted at him, trying to get him to make a move on Cozy, to distract them long enough for Discord to save the day.

Tirek looked back at you silently, then back at Cozy. He was fighting with himself, he felt that instinct, the instinct to take everything for himself. But then he stopped, and sat back on his throne. “...I suggest you switch the decor to something of my liking, or else he may pick up on what is going on.”

“Awwww, okay, I guess that’s true.” Cozy said with disappointment as she waved the staff "Now remember! Trust! Trust and we'll make our way to fun!" Cozy then disappeared as the throne room became dark, with the inbetween of the now growing bricks being red as the thrones became foreboding and cruel. The pictures on the walls sank into them, as torches began to spring out from a red carpet that rolled out from the center to the door.

Her control over the staff, it seemed she had the ability to work out the chaos in her mind. The horn was protecting her from any ill effects of the staff itself. Dammit...

“And now she’s gone.” Tirek leaned forward as he rested his head on the side of his fist. “I don’t even know what she’s planning, and she already threw us into the thick of things.” Tirek then stops to look over at you, seems you had been gagged in the blast, as you try to say something to Tirek, anything, to get this shitshow to stop. He just silently grinned at you, then looked forward, preparing himself for the arrival of Discord.
