Dear Princess Celestia,
Over the past week, I’ve gone through a number of revelations, the most prominent of which is the fact that my medication has been giving me strong feelings of paranoia this whole time. It seems obvious looking back, but hindsight is always 20-20.
I had fallen into a cycle of refusing to take it because I felt it was harming me, then starting it up again when I was no longer paranoid. Needless to say, I’m now on a different prescription. The new one is something more mild, so it might not help as much, but the side-effects will (hopefully) be less severe.
My mother will be staying in Ponyville for another few days to make sure the side-effects are manageable this time. She says thank you for funding the trip and her accommodations.
When you see Anon, please tell him Spike and I miss him dearly. I’m only kind of insane now, so it’s safe for him to come back.
Your faithful student,
Twilight SparkleP.S. - In case it was unclear, I was joking. I don’t actually think I’m insane in any capacity.
P.P.S. - But even if I were insane, most sources I’ve checked indicate I wouldn’t be aware of it.

This does sound like a well medicated Twilight, hopefully she stays closer to this for the time being.
*Looks back at all the other chapters*
Kind of?
Thinking and knowing are two separate things-
And that sounds counter productive
My faithful student Twilight Sparkle
Before I think about your request, I need to talk to the doctor who prescribed this medicine. Afterwards, I will talk Anon about it. But know this, your last spell actually hurt him.

honestly i have to say im not liking how far this idea of twilight being unstable has gone at first it was just silliness thing you could see being a lapse in judgment be it from newly learning how to communicate with others or pushing boundaries with magic and the moral grays there, but twilight being a pony so unstable with out meds she not understand really basic norms and she suppose to be a princess/princess in training? it just feels to far off for my liking.
When are you going to call her Morgan Freeman's favorite edible boob toppings?
9902099
Hurt him? How? In fact, I would argue that it did the opposite! Mr Floppy Flippy Floppy not only gained the ability to put his legs behind his head, something I am only capable of when in great need or danger, but also has spare bones in case of emergencies!
9902099
Yeah, I’m wondering if the medication’s side effects were coincidental or intentional. If it was the latter, some unlucky doctor is going to have a very unpleasant morning.
9901951
Strangely, that happens to me too
9902120
I just wanted her to be a vehicle for nonsense. The idea of Twi being on medication kept being brought up in the responses, so I eventually went with it. It’s difficult to do the kind of silliness this fic normally has when the medicine/therapy responses are played 100% straight, and with Celestia taking other steps to curb Twilight’s general behavior, it’s even harder to keep the situations semi-believable while still being funny. It’s partially my fault for not communicating with Snow much, but ces la vie.
Edit: changed some words to more accurately convey what I meant. (It may have come off as being unintentionally harsh the first time.)
9902120
This is implied to be a Twilight who just Defeated Nightmare Moon and moved to Ponyville. I don't even think the fiasco with the Gala tickets has happened, yet.
Eh, sanity is relative.
Also, there's no shame in being on medication for mental issues, which Twilight (even in canon) often seems like she would very much have.
Safe? Well, for a given value of it...
(Awww... I actually rather like this solution to things. It leaves room open for silliness, at least in my opinion, and maybe some... 'relapses' in the future, but lets me keep my appreciation of the adorable bookhorse. Seriously, mind-affecting substances are a game-changer. I think Celestia in the other series of letters will be more relieved than anything else that it was something so clinical, chemical that was affecting Twilight's judgment.)
tell that to DC's Joker
strong meds can have unprecedented effects on those who are unable to cope with said effects. I accidentally OD'd on my meds because I took too much at the same time. Although anon should stay at the castle for a little while longer considering his bones were stolen by the Bone Mare-- I mean Twiggy Shei

Dear RubberEyes
Fixing bones is an easy task.
Regrowing them is not.
There are a grand total of 60 bones in his legs and feet.
And we have to grow them in order.
And regrowing them can be a long process.
And unfortunately, doing so is painful for the patient.
We can reduce the pain while he sleeps, but we can not remove all the pain.
So while Twilight's spell didn't hurt him directly, it will leave him in pain as we get he's bones back in shape.

Oh, It happened...
Chou Densetsu Twiggels Swore Bloody Murderizing for the CelesTroll
9902379
What did Twiggels do to earn the title "Mega legend"?
9902120
oh, it's ok... you have not to worry...
the demented criminally insane Chou Densetsu Twiggels can't hurt you... much...
Now that the excuse for the reply is out of the way, let us go to the meat of the message: that profile picture of yours is adorable!!!
9902152
Ahh.. Sorry

Jump it to the Friendship journal maybe? Or just count on Ponyville wackiness over Twi wackiness. Or even jump it to Anon/Celestia/Luna/Spike for the early ones/Pinkie (they tried to keep her out and it did less than nothing) movie night reactions.
>The townsfolk have built a giant wicker pony in the square and plan to burn it. Twiggles thinks this is a fascinating cultural event, but I've seen this movie.
>Applpone was mean to a pony named Peachy Keen because of obtuse fruit-themed clan warfare reasons and that's bad.
>nevermind, apparently Peachy Keen was a ninja after the apple family cider recipe
>drunkenly scrawled "I want to suffocate under the glorious giant ass of the sun"
>Six hours later, after partially sleeping off the hangover
>"OKAY SO ANON SENT A JOKE HAHA FUNNY JOKE MESSAGE PLEASE SEND IT BACK AND DON'T READ IT JUST A JOKE"

She's beyond cuckoo for cocoa puffs nowadays, she's almost cuckoo 5 cocoa puffs now!
besides, it kindas sorta rhyme according to 5 of every 4 versions of me that managed to get that thought
9902152
Lol random with no end that ties things together is very hard to make funny/enjoyable. The wholesome/serious Celestia has been a rather refreshing and enjoyable contrast to me. In contrast to the criticism. Write what you love and love what you write~
9902400
Don’t apologize, you didn’t do anything wrong lol. If anything, I considered it a challenge as a writer to make it work.
9902431
I’m gonna be honest with you, I have no idea what you mean with that second sentence. Whose criticism of what?
I kinda like the medication explanation. Assuming that this happened after the Poison Joke episode, it could be that the plant altered her DNA even after getting the cure, thus causing the medication to affect her in a drastically different way, or maybe something happened at the pharmaceutical and they switched her meds with Pinkie Pie's.
9902472
>Pinkie's Meds
The last time they gave her adderall she rewrote the entire Equestrian tax code. I mean, it works better, they're just scared to see what she'd fix next.
Otherwise she self-medicates with an obscene amount of candy, smiles, and hugs.

THANKS FOR MAKING ME CALL HIM OUT SPECIFICALLY-

AND I’M SORRY OKAY

P.P.P.S - I can send Anon's leg bones by mail if he wants them back right away.
9902369
Dear ANW
I hope this letter finds you and your bones well.
It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to the magnificent world of modern medicine!
With recent developments in alchemy due to Equestria's efforts to establish healthy relations with Zebrican tribes, many pain dulling potions have been discovered, imported and put to use in most of Equestria's hospitals!
I know what you're thinking now, "But what if the patient is not a Zebra, Pony or four hoofed mammal? Can you guarantee its effectiveness?" Rest assured that, although not all potions are compatible with non equines, there are plenty that have the ability to affect almost all beings of the Animalia Natural Kingdom! Sometimes, even thaumically compromised patients!
Like the small but potent: Poppy Seed Extract! This wonderful little medicine can soothe away almost any pain a being can suffer, up to and including: Burns, Bruises, and the so feared, Bone Pain! And most wondrous of all, it its completely magic free! Perfect for beings with little magic, like our dear Anon.
Before we end this letter, allow me to correct some of your innocent, through no less problematic misconceptions.
Yes, bone regrowth is indeed a involved process, but it's never meant to be done in a sleeping patient! The process require the individual to be as still and relaxed as possible. While sleeping, they might attempted to 'roll over' or adopt a more comfortable position, both of which would make things rather messy for all involved. If you or any relatives have been advised, by a medical professional, to sleep during the procedure, be sure to report them to the competent authorities as soon as possible! The process is meant to be done with lucid patients under mild pain relievers.
Although the legs have more than 60 bones, that are arranged in complex patterns, a medical professional would hardly be expected to grow each bone individually without a guide. Fortunately, all beings come with a neat little instructions manual called DNA. With DNA, the medical professional can safely provide all the resources a body might need to regrow any and all bones, while at the same time providing a magical 'push' to accelerate the process.
It's also good to know that fixing bones is not at all a easy process! Even small fractures can lead to complications and require surgery in some cases. I would know, I still have the scars. Bigger fractures or, dare I say, multiple fractures can be painful throughout the entire recovery process! And many times, no pain relievers are administrates during the entire process due to cost and or the safety of the patient.
With muh love, Rubber Eyes, the man with rubber bones.

I think he means the criticism that Celestia gives to Twilight whenever she does something ridiculous or foolish. I found wholesome/serious Celestia refreshing as well, BTW.
9902131
Huh.
Well...
Is there a story there?
9902152
Ignoring Snow's story for a moment, the deal really is that this is potentially becoming a different story with a different tone. This is in part by virtue of length - since your original tone isn't one that typically handles character relationships and development very well - and in part by giving in to how a small vocal portion of the audience re-frames and attempts to reshape what you've written. Of course, make Snow's story canon to this one and you compound the second issue several times, but even without that...
Is that a problem? I don't know. I'm curious to see what you do, since you didn't mark the story Complete yet.
9902853
Well, the user is apparently made of rubber bands, so forming legs to put their ankles behind their googly eyes - especially emulating enough of a body to make this sort of impressive - takes a lot of work and isn't something they do casually. Being as they are mostly made of rubber bands, the bending is obviously not the hard part here.
This actually makes a lot of sense. I've seen and heard my share of prescription horror stories. Twilight on the wrong one would explain much of what we've seen. Here's hoping the new meds help more than harm.
9902152
C’est la vie
That's live
9903487
Oof, yeah. Two of my siblings have had their share of horror stories. Neurophysiology is not something to be tweaked lightly.
9903487
My sibling is a prescription horror story.
This is kind of sad to be honest.
If you know what is insane and what is not no matter that they seem more or less equally viable choices you can choose not to do insane things. Twilight is smart enough to know what is and is not considered crazy or otherwise messed up. She chooses not to use that knowledge.

A med I took once for helping with my inability to pay attention in third grade caused me to stare at a wall.
The. Entire. DAY.
this chapter hits personal for me as I had Severe ADD as a kid, and tried a bunch of different meds to try and treat it.
several of which had various side effects. cant remember them all, just that one gave me horrid migraines and a second made me even more space-headed.
I do recommend a prescription of haloperidol for our dear Twilight. It's the only prescription that, without significant side effects, keeps my own mother from gauging holes in the ceiling and scaring off the SWAT team with a single, empty bottle of water*.
I was only three years old, but I still remember that.
*: Disposable plastic water bottle.
10223894
a medical analysis of my brain after reading this comment shows all my braincells are occupied thinking about how the god damn SWAT team was scared off by an empty plastic bottle.
