Blunt force trauma is sometimes the best option. You do not have to watch her poop, but I would advise making sure the door is unlocked when she goes in, should things go south.
Where Spike goes is up to him, although he would most likely wish to stay with Rarity, knowing him. You are also in the running for continuing to live with him; I think he appreciates having a paternal figure in his life.
