Now that would be telling.

Flutter-bear is not something I'd want to tangle with.
And yes, Sunset is trying to get what help she can, but there's just some things she can't rely on others for.

Ah yes. Cinch is certainly going to have a great deal of trouble when everything goes to Hell.

To quote someone in a discord I was in... "Remember the three i's: Teenagers think they're immortal, invincible, and infertile."
Interesting theories about what "non-standard pony" ancestor Sunset might have.

anywho, unto the road to the Friendship Games then, ahoy! May Cinch burn forever in the firey pits of hell
you are such a dork
Twiggles, you are a glorious mess. As someone who has suffered from a lot of social anxiety, I can relate.
Why do I have a feeling we know just how that image looks?
And once again, Sunny lets out the closest thing to the truth, omitting anything directly Equestrian. So close now...
Twi saw that Sunset was trained, or at lest trained herself, to respond formally as crown princess, eh?
Unless there is a missing or runaway royal somewhere that's not going to "help" but I can see the Sparkle's running with it.
Still, that is quite the little factoid. IF Sunset was taught that, and they mean the same things cross universe, then Celestia has some explaining. Heck, even if Sunset did do it herself, Celestia not correcting her it's almost the same thing.
Just realized that Lyra probably needs to inform Sunset that Bigfoot isn't a yeti, a "relative" but Yetis and Sasquatch are different.
Yeah, that lady was totally reading you, Sunny. Makes me wonder if the doctor asked Twilight about where Sunset is from. People don't generally talk that formal, especially teenagers to adults, without extensive and often repetitive reminders of manners. Hell, its's hard enough to get kids to say please and thank you let alone curtsey, bow, and articulate enunciation of words. I loved how Sunset's presence and touch shut down the impending panic attack and that the doctor got to bear witness to it. You can guarantee she was analyzing the shit out of that interaction.
Great work.
I really like Sunset's fallback straight into formalities.
Between the military and originally being from Scotland, I have a lot of niche fallbacks I do in various situations depending, like my accent slipping through when angry, tired, or in a more formal setting, and then just general physical mannerisms.
Which reminds me, I also really liked that old reference of bringing something to one's house when inv8ted to a holiday or similar event. It was something my Grannie and Gran and more than a few aunts and uncles instilled in me, coupled with the whole 'always enter someone's home with a small gift" on New Years. One of my older Aunts and my Gran lived directly across from eachother for decades and new years was spent between the two, and so often an apple or orange would make its way back and forth across the street, gifted with whoever was going where.
Needless to say, loving her random formality quirks
Nice chapter.
hah, sunset "what's therapy?" shimmer, everyone
(note that "what's therapy?" comes with a heaping side of "decently effective coping mechanisms" so while it's not catastrophic, it's still pretty bad.)
twilight is getting very good at navigating sunset's half answers
villains have standards after all!
twilight's imagination: mediocre high school bully
reality: mediocre high school bully (seriously? cut and paste?) with a fuck ton of charisma and a- oh wow that's an actual demon huh, weird
heheh, of course everyone knows about rarity and applejack.
i think the interdimensional doppleganger thing is a bit more than the usual romcom trope, heh
hey hang on, her doctor's name is "gently soft-spoken"?
i love mlp naming sense
the primary problem with getting sunset therapy
is the fact that the therapist would by necessity need to believe magic is real
because oh boy trying to therapize sunset with her sanitized backstory? while some of it may be helpful, so much of it would be way off base that it would be completely useless
oof
oh my god
i love it when sunset utilizes her high-class equestrian political mannerisms
it's so well fitting and also completely outside of the expectations of anyone around her
oh my god i love this bit
"heir apparent" is such a phrase
awwww
