Ooooooh human magic. Can someone say “game changer!”?
you're a wizard Sunset!
And so the secret is out that there's human magic. Faint as it is, it's there.
Nice to see Flash helping Sunny out. And dispelling any potential rumors that he and Sunset are a thing again. Dash, you're great in a lot of ways, but you have no tact. Sometimes it's charming. Others, it isn't.
Ooooo weeeeoooooh*. Ominous.
Could be a good read. Of course the question is does Sunset take the book to read at Twi's house or not? Probably not knowing it's magic and keeping her little purple fingers off a book would constitute torture.

Pinkie is a character I struggle to write, but I try to stay true to both sides of her as a character--both the zany fun lover and the insightful friend who is remarkably aware of people's feelings.

Rather thought this chapter would get people's attention.
10980001
Yes. *more ominous sounds*
10980052
Technically, she's more a sorceress than anything, given the particular ways she excels in magic.
10980423
Yes. The human world does have magic it seems. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen.
Nice guy Flash is a good dude, and I stand by my "he and sunset will end up total bros in that way only a lesbian and a straight dude can be." He had a thing for her once, but he can recognize and respect that it wont ever happen, and is all too happy to turn his efforts into being a great pal, someone she can count on. (I'm hoping people like Nice guy Flash, because he is set to become a regular character in Sunset's life.)
Dash wouldn't know tact if it bit her on the ass. She is the absolute opposite of subtlety.

Yeeeah, that book wont be going to Twilight's. Sunset is already trying to keep her girl from asking questions she isn't ready to answer.

Nice to see someone new reading the story, though I would point out that, in regards to that particular reader comment, while well thought out, it is not accurate to the cosmology of the story itself. I haven't mentioned much of the greater cosmology yet, for story reasons, but it will be revealed slowly in the story on its own for reasons that will ultimately become apparent. :} I do have to admit, however, that its fun to watch people in the comments speculate! :P Means I must be doing something right!
Hope you enjoy the rest of whats up so far!

Huh, it actually does have this meaning even though usually used in a different meaning like "and this started the industrial revolution". Doesn't really make sense in a context, though, since "passerby" means someone already moving. It makes more sense for them to stare (in bedazzlement) or to be startled.

I assure you, the word choice was deliberate. "Started" was the word I was going for, as there are subtle, nuanced differences in the meanings of the word, particularly in regards to how the person jerks or jolts in surprise. Started, in this case, refers to a very disjointed, jarring movement that interrupted their previous action in a very unpleasant fashion--like when someone gives you a jump scare by coming up behind you and tapping your shoulder. The person on the street was not expecting what they encountered in any remote fashion, and it was so far out there from the norm that it basically derailed everything they were doing from sheer 'what-the-fuck'-ery. Thus, "started." Not stared, which implies blank eyed gaping of non-reaction. Not bedazzlement, which implies a form of wonder or enchantment. Not befuddlement which is a form of dumbstruck confusion.

Hmm. Interesting. It's actually the first time I see this word in this meaning. Quite surprising for me.

"Derailed everything they'd been doing through sheer what-the-fuck-ery" is a glorious line... I'm going to spend WEEKS trying to find a place for it in conversation... I wish I played D&D. That seems like a good place for it.
I'm also very much interested in human magic and cosmology, so I'll definitely be back for more!
Sadly, I'm both ADD and a speedreader, so I'll probably forget to check the story for three months, then read everything new in one setting in the middle of the night, but hey.
Small price to pay for a truly great Sunset story. And as someone who's read FAR too many Sunset fics, I hope you'll accept my claim that this is a seriously top-teir tale! May your merry band of wordsmiths be happy and inspired.

Its not a hugely common word, so that's not entirely surprising.

This actually got a chuckle out of me.

Adge took a lot of stuff down. I think you can still find the comics in question on the old Sciset Diary Tumblr?

I appreciate the compliment on the story, lol! And for the record, I do post weekly updates.
Ok without reading the next chapter yet, my question is :who would give this to Pinkie?" Then I remembered Cranky Doodle has a soft spot for Pinkie and he's somewhat of a magic hunter I think. Then it dawned on me: Mattie = Matilda so it could possibly be Cranky's journal.
Time to read onwards!
