Yeah, we try to avoid "hand of the author" type contrivances like that. If there's a misunderstanding, it needs to evolve from the actual character flaws and behaviors and personality traits: Like Sunset's fear of being rejected and Twilight's propensity to over think or wind herself up. I HATE the trope of the "Idiot Ball/Stupid Stick." Its boring, its lazy, and its just not good storytelling/writing. If you're an author capable of creating an entire world, you should be fucking smart enough to work out a legit plot reason that doesn't require characters to loose 80 IQ points for no reason at all.

HI NEW FRIEND! *waves vigorously* Welcome to the party, feel free to help yourself to cocoa, cookies, and plenty of character torment.
Flash's Magic Therapy Car™️.
And yeah, if I knew Sunset from when she was a bitch and she shot me a death stare, despite Wallflower most likely being a big bad and she could tell, I would probably get scared shitless and run.
Welcome back, by the way - hope the holidays treated you well!
You're back?!! YIPPY! Now I can get my weekly fix of your crazy messed up mind again!
In all seriousness, glad to have this story back, and you.
This is one of the few best SciSet stories I could find with a great amount of Drama and Mystery. Hope the Holidays treated you well and can't wait for the next chapter.
Also, Pitchfork sales went booming in the market. Racked up a hefty size bag of bits from it.
Welcome back!
I do have to say, the fact that Flash could pick up on how Wallflower was acting and compare it to how Sunset used to act, while Sunset was somewhat blind to it really shows how far Sunny's come. I mean, yeah, she knew something was up, but couldn't put her hoof on it, and that was helped by Sunset feeling guilty, but Flash is right: Sunny you are not in the wrong here, you have every right to feel the way you did!
Also, Flash's allusions to why Wallflower might wanna break Sunny and Sparky up fuel my suspicions to her eventual motivations behind the Memory Stone incident: revenge for stealing (in her mind) her friend and try to make Sunset out to be who she think she is.
So, I guess it's common knowledge in CHS that Lyra's an old Preppie? Oh, the connection between her and Sparky is gonna be glorious, I think.

Question i forgotten friendship gonna happend before or after te friendship games?
He listens, he offers good, honest advice. Yep, psychology might be in your future, Flash. I like that Sunset is beating herself up over this. I feel that is true to character. And while it did not say it last time, i think Wallflower did get her a split second of Demon Eyes. Especially if Sunset’s magic was surging. Welcome back.

Yup, just one more connection on the web connecting the truth between the magic girl and the nerd. Flash knows (pretty much) everything, but now Luna, the Sparkles, and the Rainbooms have a new confirmed contender in the running for second place.

Technically, I was referring to Lyra and Twi's old friendship.
Though, if we're talking contenders for second place, I think Luna's got the most knowledge behind Flash, as she knows of Sunset's background and past (as Sunset's school adult confidant), and she's aware of Sunset's affinity with the Sparkles, without knowing (as far as the readers know) who Cadance's "Ladybug" is.
Looks like our favorite little fireball's getting some much needed external advice. One can only rely on the voices in their head for so long.
Canon Wallflower was a strange one. You can't blame her for feeling the way she did, maybe for the way she reacted. But it never really gets explained why life is the way it is for her. It goes way beyond people not noticing her because she is the quiet type, it goes into supernatural territory. Like she is cursed or something. But it never gets explained the tiniest bit why. Since its always has been like that it's probably not Equestrian Magic.
And in this universe she is also under the influence of the supernatural being(s) that make CP their hunting ground. Although it seems she actually did/does have some friends here as well.
I am rooting for the girl. I think and hope she is going to be ok in the end, but I fear she is going to go through a lot before we get to that point and that she will cause a lot of trouble for the main seven in the meantime.
I will say, I often mix this tale up with two of my other favourite sci-twi/sunset romance stories, Fractured Sunlight and Long Road to Friendship. I had this whole spiel about Moondancer typed out but then I realised that was from the sequel to Long Road to Friendship >_<.

There are just some people who have one hell of a death glare--its like the temperature in the room changes!

Its good to be back! I'm glad you're excited for whats to come! :P
As for the holidays, let's just say I survived and am glad they're over with.

Flash is not a fool. He learned his lesson with Sunset. Sunset, on the other hand, was way too close to the situation, and so focused on the "what did I do wrong" aspect that she didn't see the forest for the trees.
Wallflower is definitely one to watch out for.
Lyra having transferred from CPA at the beginning of sophmore year (10th grade) is...not a secret. And Flash, as has been shown, is actually pals with her and Bon-Bon, so he's a bit more aware than most. However, not common knowledge is the whole fact that she knows two different Twilight Sparkles....mostly because Lyra is a bit of a kooky conspiracy and cryptid nut, so...most people don't pay attention to her if she mentions something like that.

The...events of Forgotten Friendship will bear very little in common with what ends up happening eventually in Rubicon. Though they are not slated to happen any time soon. One world shattering crisis at a time, lol!

Flash is Best Bud. He's a good guy, and I really do stand by the fact that the canon had a good character they used in all the wrong ways, and did pretty dirty in the end. He makes a way more compelling and fascinating friend to the girls than he ever did a love interest for any of them. And yes, Sunset has an absolute tendency to self-flagellate, and see things as being her fault, even when they arent.
As for the rest...who knows exactly what Wallflower saw?
Its good to be back!

Are we running a betting pool yet? I feel like this is a conversation that leads to a betting pool about "who is gonna find out next?" :P

Depending on who you ask, they might tell you that you shouldnt be listening at all to voices in your head. This is usually followed up by some nice men in white coats wanting to show you your nice new room with all the padding.

I'm not going to go too much into my thoughts about assigning blame to Wallflower's feelings. I'm a bit touchy on the subject of "giving someone a pass" on their "feelings" that lead to shitty behavior. As someone with a temper (read "berserker like rage"), I have never, in all of my life, been excused for my feelings, especially when they cause harm to others, and thus get a little hot under the collar when that concept is used to excuse others' bad behavior or inability to cope with whats going on in their head, be it in real life or fiction. But I also recognize that it is a personal opinion, formed by how I have been punished by society my whole life for my feelings if I fail to keep them in a neat little box.
As for the why never being explained in canon, that is why we're putting effort into Wallflower. Because people do not do things like that in a vacuum. There's a reason, even if its a bad one. Its a lesson I learned from Hey Arnold! of all things, lol. And yes, there's a little magic involved here, but...a great deal of it is Wallflower's personality and circumstances, and that will be a driving force throughout the character's arc. What will happen to her, all remains to be seen, though I will remark that her design here actually sets her up as a literary foil to one of the girls, and also as a bit of a reflection of who Sunset used to be.
I will take it as a compliment of the highest measure that you confuse my story with both Long Road and Fractured Sunlight. I've read them both and enjoyed them immensely, and I will freely admit that Long Road is, in some ways, responsible for the origin of this story. As for Moondancer, well. She'll make an appearance eventually. She is Twilight's friend, after all!

Heh, I think I made a similar comment about Wallflower (quite) a few chapters back and got a similar response :). Kinda forgot.
All three stories are great, I have different scenes/things I love about each one. For Rubicon pretty much any scene with (a member of) the Twilights. I'm not counting Twilight Sparkle there simply because there are so many scenes with her. I also really love the chapter with the response from Celestia and Luna to the (cyber)bullying done to Sunset. Extremely satisfying anytime I reread this story (which is easily 10+ times by now).
Nice chapter and hopefully Twilight takes this well.
Hello, I just got caught up and I absolutely adore this story, so I just wanted to understand it updates every Saturday right? If so I'm looking forward to the next chapter and future chapters coming!^-^

We try to update once a week. Usually goes up sometime between Thursday night and Friday afternoon in the USA. I am not sure what that translates to in your local timezone. But yes. Weekly updates other than when I take holiday breaks like we just got back from.

I am glad you feel comfortable in voicing your thoughts here. And I agree with your assessment that people’s go way too far with internet arguments sometimes. Unfortunately, Flash is a touchy subject for a lot of individuals suffering from “But my waifu!” Syndrome, and they tend to drown out the voices of more reasonable people.
I prefer constructive dialogue, even for dissenting opinions, rather than ugly arguments, snd do my best to help encourage a place in the comments that allows for respectful conversation.
canterlot's unicorn superiority complex, oof
riiiiiiiiiight no angry magic eyes here!
