Oh, of course she went for the greenhouse, thinking of Wallflower and the "mutated plants" thing. Wonder if she'll try one of the berries and realize it has a similar taste to the tart Sunset gave her. Wallflower would have a field day with those fizzle berry plants.
Interesting how the magic kinda lingered enough to leave a trail for Twi to follow, even leaving echoes. Friendship Games seemed to indicate the device only picked up active magic.
I would have thought Crystal Preps greenhouse would be better because of Wallflower. But Celestia herself playing around in the CHS one does seem like it would give it a boost. Fun chapter, another!
The fact Wallflower is in CP instead, would someone else find the Memory Stone since it is buried somewhere in the CHS greenhouse.
Twiggles, you are skirting dangerously close to the linnorm's lair now. Especially when you found the echos left on the amphitheater.
And, why do I get the feeling that Sunset distracted Twi while she was at the berry bush because she didn't want her messing with them.
This is definitely setting up for an exciting friendship games.
Limp Lizards. Just... Gah. What a name. So, magic leaving a ghost echo of what had happened. Seen that in other stories and it's a good/spooky phenomenon to use. And mmmmmmm, so much kissing. Naughty girlfriend distracting the science!

It was where there was an energy signature to track, after all. The fizzleberries are magic. :P And yes, Wallflower would likely have a field day with "mutant plants." ...creepy little wretch. As for her tasting the berries, well, we'll see.
There's a very good reason for the difference, hahah. One which will become clear in due time. *cackles and rubs paws together*

With all the toxicity in CPA, I can't imagine plants growing well on the property. Or 'horticulture' being a popular class because its so niche and not involved with the typical areas that rich kids would be going into. At best, its an elective for kids who need that extra credit. So probably not as much funding is going into it. Whereas CHS not only is a public school, but it also has a population that includes kids from local rural farms. Horticulture is probably in higher demand.

Its not in the greenhouse, its in the woods behind the school. Don't worry, I have plans.

If I had to guess? Radium. Radium was used to make glow in the dark things like clock hands and such once upon a time, and Radium glows green, particularly under UV lighting--a green very similar to what we think of when we think of "radioactive green." See here: Radium watch hands exposed to UV (While discontinued in the 60s, it was as early as 1920 that its radioactivity and toxicity was made known to the public). So while the "blue flash" is common in runaway nuclear reactions, the color green is what we think of in radioactivity from another source, that over the last hundred years has been reinforced through pop culture in all manner of places (the Simpsons, Fallout, various novels, comics, etc.)

Curious how the device is not picking up on Sunset, like she's a big walking talking magic signature, unless she's managed to mask or cloak her magic signature.

How do you know it hasn't? There was a "big source at the school," but...on school grounds, surrounded by magic, Sunset isn't the only source. >:} Twilight wasn't scanning her gf when they were in the loft. She was too busy making out with her.

True, that's a fair point.
uh oh!
out of context: "oh maybe it's a crystal or something"
in context: "oh no, 'sample' is just 'one whole sunset, please', hmm"
oh geez, the first source of info is completely stoned! this is hilarious!
oh no, poor twi, her second source is vinyl!
oh damn, the siren battle left behind an imprint
AHAHAHAHA HELL YES
finally she has pieces of the puzzle, not enough to figure it out yet, but she has a few pieces!
oh dear, yeah that amphitheater is probably not the best place to be when in a vulnerable state already...
HAH, the CHS minefield is overriding sunset's local field
sunset: "i have to help my girlfriend with a thing, despite the shady legality, and also the high chance of magic being the source of the readings (but there's not quite enough hints to put that together yet), best evening ever"
did
did she just leave the scanner in the greenhouse?
uh oh
