Yeah, that was as good and blatant as an opening as they could have ever had. Twily's holding herself back again!
My love for you... is like a TRUCK! BERSERKER!
Ah yes. I have used Google translate and "so far" no one has told me the translation is terrible. I'll take that as a win. Sunset has some amazing poker face resolve to NOT look at Twilight after sooooo many openings given. I'm always fascinated by how you handle Sunset processing new human information, especially hard stuff such as convoluted social nuances. Also, don't feel bad, all babies look like Winston Churchill to me.
Finally. Chooooocooolaaaate.
Cady's got the patience of a saint, I tell you.
I suspect at this rate Night and Velvet will officially find out their in a relationship the exact same moment Sunset ends up accidentally ponying up, probably to protect them. Good to know the parents are supportive of aliens however. And Twilight is missing cues again I see.
Does the same apply to your daughter and amber unicorns, Night?
I admit, Sunset having a homemade plush of Celestia is sweet. I wonder if she cuddles that when Twilight's not around...

I've found its best to balance different types of emotion in storytelling, or people get sort of...numb and overloaded to a particular emotion. So by going through things like the build up, or the groups of chapters where the emotion swings in an arc, just like it does in real life, it both makes it more realistic and immersive a story, and keeps my audience from looking like Walking Dead fans after 4 seasons.
Besides, yes, the payoff for it is the cute stuff in these few chapters. And the stuff coming up. And I'm not sorry for the heart-melting. :P

Aww, thanks! It makes us feel good to hear things like that!

She is, but as is often the case with things we are stressed and anxious about, we are our own worst enemies. Twilight isn't much different than most people on that.
She's getting there. Slowly.

*laughs* yeah, google translate is...usually okay, and I know a lot of people will give it a pass if they know its definitely not your native tongue, but at least you're trying? (Just like I'm fully capable of reading stories where English is the second language, and its not quite grammatically right or the sentences are constructed oddly.) But it used to be pretty bad, from what I understand...and this story taking place like 10 years ago (since I used the year EQG came out IRL as the rough start date of the Rubicon timeline) is...during that period where it..wasn't great.
...Sunset had lots of practice acting as the tyrant of the school and back in CSGU. She also learned from the Immortal of the Good Poker Face, Princess Celestia.
...when it comes to Sunset and human stuff, I always ask 'is this something she would have encountered before?' to start. If its something she wouldn't have, logically, then I look at what popular culture and modern media shows of it. Like with the newborn infants thing in this chapter. Because of various reasons, one typically only truly encounters a newborn infant if you are associated with the parents in some way--friends, family, etc. Sunset had none of that. And in popular culture and media, they don't normally show newborns. They show babies that are usually several months old, if not closer to a year or more. From there, its just a comparison of "well what does this thing look like in Equestria for ponies?" and if the answer is drastically different, I use that as the real point for starting in on "how would Sunset Shimmer react?"
I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks babies are kinda gross looking.

Cady is an absolute gem of a person. A lot of work went into translating the "Princess of Love" and "Twilight's Super Best Foalsitter Friend/Sister EVER" into a living breathing human being that felt like she was still Cadence. I'm just glad it seems to be paying off. *cackles in anticipation* There's a Cady Interlude coming up I think people will enjoy.
It might also knock their socks off if they pay attention.

*snickers* We already have the "reveal" planned. I think you'll enjoy it.

..Yes, yes it does. This was Night not being subtle. If he'd said it to Twilight, it would have been basically saying "We know you're dating Sunset, and we don't care." So instead, he put the sentiment out, but targeted Sunset. Its a thinly veiled "I know you're dating my daughter, and I wont be mad if you tell me."
It'll get there. Lol.
As for "Princess Sunbottom" at present, the toy--in pretty rough shape as most well loved comfort toys are after a child uses them for like a whole decade or more--sits on a shelf next to Sunset's bed.
thinking babies r ugly is so true- like why in the wide galaxy and stars would someone think a wrinkly, crying, bald fleshbag is cute
