Can I just say how much I love your characterisation of not just Twilight and Sunset, but the entire cast? Because you and your team have done a brilliant job.
I believe I'd have trouble finding another work even approaching the quality of this one, especially with your unique takes on the cast that I can actually believe keeps them within previously established characterisation.
My only problem with this fic is how I'm too empathetic with the characters that reading emotionally charged chapters sap most of, if not all, my motivation to do much more than lay on my bed wishing too curl up until the end of time. Although I imagine that just means you've done a good job too portray how the POV character feels, so do take that as a compliment.
I, for one, am with Twilight's parents.

HOW THE HECK DOES THE SCHOOL THINK TWILIGHT INSTIGATED A FIGHT WITH A GUY OLDER AND HEAVIER THAN HER?
*Breathes out*
Anyway...
I sense dark magic afoot. How else could you explain the fact that this guy when psycho and creepy on Twilight. I still hold onto the fact that Sunset's magic is protecting her to a degree via the hijacked conscience. Those self-defense lessons sure came in handy too.
I honestly have a lot of sympathy for Polaris here. It sounds like his lab was destroyed by Cinch, and now she's manipulating him deeper into a spiral of despair. It seems like he's on a trajectory for either suicide or sacrifice, under her auspices.
MC Escher believed that Art and Math were closer related and had more in common than Math and Science. He was an interesting fellow.
Like you said, lot to unpack here. Like a horror movie moment with body changes, animalistic growling, and exploding lights and shadow tendrils. I'm glad Twilight was able to defend herself. The alternative would have likely broken her mind if not her body. There is truth to muscle memory repetition cutting down reaction time. Being able to move on instinct when rational thought has failed you. I remember many years ago my friends and I were on a car trip and we ended up having to dodge a deer in the middle of the dark Texas highway. I was half asleep in the passenger seat when the driver swerved. After we jackknifed a few times and ended up sliding to stop backwards in the ditch my instinct took over because the driver was in shock and unable to move or think. (My dad was a firefighter and both my parents were Air Force veterans) Knowing how to move and stay in control in an emergency is something that was drilled into both my sister and I. Practice. Repetition.
Anyhow, yup, you and the team got us good on that title. I think we were all expecting an ultimatum showdown with Wallflower. Sunset is going to be conflicted when she hears about Twilight's week.
Huh, that was not the confrontation I was expecting from the title.
For what it's worth - I at least thought that was fairly clear. Wally's taking the shot because she's a Crystal Prep student and the environment demands you take those shots. It's been abused into all of them and is probably reflexive. Plus this version of her is just a plain bitter girl - her nature's acerbic. She couldn't not.
Breaking this complex and info packed chapter down to one of its base points all I have to say is, Go Twilight! About time you kicked some ass, lol!!!
Looks like the darkness that is shadow got into that boy. Glad Sunset's training paid off.
Well at least Twilight is learning and yeah that was a different confrontation than expected. I wonder if Wallflower destroyed his lab for Cinch.
Twilight has magic in her. Whether from being who she is, Sunset's companionship, or Demon Sunsets sense of ownership. I can't wait till we see Cinch's reaction to the video footage. I expect part of an upcoming explanation to include a mysterious damage to the cameras in that hallway.

Thank you for your words. It means a lot to hear you think so highly of our characterization--we put a lot of work into every action and choice the characters make, and I've been over the canon content with a fine tooth comb on numerous occasions to double check and make sure I've not missed anything.
As far as the chapters and the emotions of them leaving you emotionally wrung out...
I'm not sorry, lol. That tells me we are doing it right.

Mmm. They have a point. But people whose minds have been fucked over by manipulative magic and faerie non-sense don't always see the obvious.
Something definitely seems up with Twilight, with magic, and with the fight itself. Hmmm...

It DOES seem that way, doesn't it?

Monkey hind-brain can be trained pretty good. Its useful in a pinch. Especially for people who don't always remain calm under pressure.

I'm glad its more clear than I believed. I've...gotten a few messages in regards to Wallflower's characterization in the story that were...less than pleasant, shall we say, and a number of them revolved around her personal motivations and her words, and I wanted to make sure that I was providing clarification as a hope of reducing some of the unpleasant messages I've gotten.

Its nice to see the girl hit back for once, isn't it?

Don't worry, the conversation with Wallflower will happen. Eventually.

*cackles* YOu have proposed some interesting thoughts, friend. It will be interesting to see how things progress. *gives a cookie*
Twilight's evolving too
