Damm that math problem rd has brings back some bad memories. at least she's better oof then i was could not do multiplication till i was 18
Fancy Unicorn Shit sounds like something sold at Spencer's in the mall. And yes, RD, depending how deep you want to dig into the internet, unicorn horns are used for aaaaalll sorts of 'baaad' purposes. Fun little change of pace.
Love these little slices of life.
Yup, that summarizes a Lyra/Bonnie relationship right there.
Dash you don't need to be an egghead to pass math (or any class), you just need the right teacher and the right learning method. Some people suck at certain subjects (English for me) but as long as you put the effort in you can just squeak by.
I wonder if Sunset will be as successful as Twilght teaching her Rainbow Dash about Wonderbolts history.
And of course, when talking about ponies, we never got to the part where the only alicorns are female. I mean, the higher proportion of mares probably has something to do with that.
This is where they learn that if Dash sees something she remembers it. Now she just has to learn how to use what she sees.
Don't question it, Sunset. It's Pinkie Pie.
Also, Rainbow deserved that bit at the end. Big time.

Math is bleh. Lower end math is not so bad, and you do use basic math as your average adult, so...totally get teaching that, but...ugh. Higher end math is probably the most pointless mandatory part of high school. Pretty much anything beyond basic algebra, if you're not going into a field that uses it (like the sciences or actual mathematics), you pretty much never use it. I don't know anyone outside of those kinds of fields who ever uses anything more than basic math in their everyday life. (This is made more hilarious with the added fact of when I was in school, we got lectured about 'You have to learn to do this in your head, because you won't always have a calculator.' As you can guess, that was before Cell phones were a thing that everyone had.)

Lol. Bad Dragon, is that you I hear calling Rainbow's name?

Can't play with your hearts with EVERY chapter, now can I?

Honestly, this entire chapter was really built around that beautiful line as the centerpiece. We needed a way to introduce them and showcase their relationship easily, as well as their personalities. I'd say it worked.

What's that saying? 'C's get Degrees?' Hopefully Sunset can manage teaching Dash a few things to pass.
As for that....Well. The 'all the alicorns are female' thing is more a 'luck of the draw' and 'because of the population spread' than anything. The way I run it is that alicorns Acend for a purpose, something needed to help their world with a vital function, and the one who gets it is ultimately the pony best suited for the job.
But that's lore for later, lol

Dash is not stupid, and her friends know that. Dash is perceptive and clever, but book learning has never been her forte. She needs to feel something is applicable to her activities or life for it to stick. Sunset plans on taking advantage of that.

Do not question the Pink One. Ever.
On a more serious note, I love just...leaving it ambiguous as to whether or not what Pinkie does is MAGIC, or just...zany Pinkie antics. Or both.
And yes, Dash deserved to get dumped on her ass.
ah geez, sunset being self aware is kinda hilarious, at least it's hilarious when she's not using it purely to put herself down
heheh
hmm yes, she can totally use the horn she hasn't figured out how to properly manifest, to draw in large amounts of magic through her body's atrophied magic circuits, causing pain, just to setup a foolproof illusion just to cheat on a test
sounds like a plan to me!
it's pinkie, she's good at shenanigans
oh my GOD lyra
heheheh, oh lyra
reasonable response!
oh, poor flash
he's surrounding himself with tons of good friends, but has completely bombed dating if that's a thing he wants to go for
ah well, he'll figure it out eventually
Y'know, I dont know if I connected the dots in my first read but I realized Lyra was one of Twilight's old friends at CPA and now she's at CHS, plus I recall it being mentioned (from Twilight's POV) that Lyra moved away. Does she even know Lyra transferred to CHS? Is seeing seeing her at the Friendship Games gonna be a surprise for her? I could see Sunset and Lyra asking the same thing about Twilight to each other and vice-versa: "You know her?"
Maybe Lyra's superstitious mom saw signs of what was going on at CPA, had similar concerns that Sunset and the Sparkle family had about Twilight, and yeeted Lyra outta there.
Actually now that I think about it, if Lyra was friends with Sparky, then she must've been confused when a Twilight Sparkle showed up at CHS last fall out of the blue...
