This was great friend bonding time. I'm enjoying all the Flash/Sunset friendshipping
I've probably said it before, but I've long gotten over my initial dislike of Flash in EG canon, because I realized I didn't dislike him, I dislike the tropes he represents. I think its pretty telling that the fanfiction community has done a better job characterizing him, giving him depth, and making him likable than the actual show.
In any case, glad Sunny-buns got a chance to destress and hang out without having to worry about mystical nonsense for a bit.
Well this was a nice chapter and it gave Sunset a clue-by-four upside the head.
I was really not expecting Mama Sentry in this chapter. She took the seeing of the girl who hurt her little man very well. Better than my mother. My mother threatened to gut my brother's one ex with a sword if she ever saw her again. Anyhow, I LOVED the idea of Batter Up! I want to eat there! As it has been stated, your fleshing out of Flash has been spectacular. He is a good guy. He got used and abused, had to deal with the heartbreak of teenage puppy love the hard way, but in the end he did not let it taint him bitter. Also... little sister. LOL! Kids really do shout stuff like this from age 5-11. A LOT.

There is nothing quite like the "best bro" friendship between a lesbian and a straight man.

Flash felt like he was originally created to check a box insisted on by marketing who said "What, a movie with a target audience of 8-12 year old girls?!" and demanded certain things based on a list of "what preteen girls are into" created by people who were never preteen girls (and thus don't know their ass from a hole in the ground on the subject.) I've repeatedly referred to him as "A good character with a lot of potential who was hated by fans for all the right reasons." When you remove him from the enforced romantic subplot and strictly into "friendzone" territory, the story and Flash himself, are suddenly way more interesting and engaging and tolerable. I quite like "Nice Guy Flash" in the role of "another member of the friendship circle," and the idea that he's actually best buds with Lyra and Bon-Bon too. It fits what we do see: a goofy but kind hearted person who genuinely wants to help people and do the right thing.
My thing that I don't get--although I have this problem with a LOT of shipping--is the people who think he and Sunset should "hook back up." Like...dude...That's....that doesn't seem healthy. Or practical. Even if Sunset's gone through some real strong effort at personal change, they have this history of toxicity and unpleasantness between them. Its super easy to get hooked back into old patterns, and it....feels like it totally disregards their personalities that would, from where I'm observing, actually contribute to that negative potential. (Sunset is, despite her efforts to not be a bitch anymore, an assertive personality. She takes charge, she leads, she commands. Not speculation--we see it. As we also see what happens when she is presented with a situation she cant control, like a day with Pinkie.)

Look, horses are stubborn animals sometimes. In this case, Sunset needs that Clue-by-Four. Probably will need it more than once.

So will Twilight probably.
Ah yes, more Sunset-Flash moments. The one person Sunset can be open to about, without hiding anything. Must be a relief after hiding magic from Twilight and her family and hiding her relationship from her friends (and the rest of the school). Really, the only one who comes even close is Luna, what with connection to the Sparkle family, but not knowing the exact identity of Cadance's Ladybug.
I really like Flash and Sunset’s friendship. I know how hard it can be to stay friends with an ex like that (although admittedly, Sunset had to get over the hurdle of having hurt him really bad, not the hurdle of having had feelings for him) and they really just demonstrate what a good friendship is. I actually really liked the scene with his mom, I feel like I had never really thought about how either of Flash’s parents would react to Sunset having done what she did. She’s reasonably upset, but Sunset is a good person now, and she definitely knows that what she did was awful.
Poor Sunset, though. Human emotions are hard, I don’t think many of us have it all figured out either. Definitely not an ex-unicorn. Another great chapter :D
Flash's sister got sass
yes! go flash! be the friend that forces sunset to take a damn break!
for PRESTIGE?! people care about you!!
hell yeah!
oof, but also a very fair punishment
just because she's changed and we know the extent to which she's changed doesn't mean she should be allowed to put herself in situations that make it easy to backslide
that's also valid
AHHHHHHHHHHH!
she needs some sleep
not that it's easy, but by god does she need some
sunset, having a bunch of emotivore foreshadowing: "i have no idea why thinking about my gf might temporarily remove my metaphysical hunger, nope, none at all."
flash gives good advice
hah! oh flash
oh my god i love her already
oh noooo, sunset, jumping out of windows is not a good way to deal with your problems
especially when they're closed
oh my god she's the best!!
awwwww!!
