Twiggles, you are in for a very rude awakening when you find out.
Place your bets everyone. Is Twilight going to remember this conversation by the end of the day? And is Wallflower Bitch going to cross the line from bigot to full on mind-rapist?
Uh-oh. That's gonna be fun to explain, lol. Don't worry Twi, I doubt you're a Changeling. And hey! Of course Sunset is extra attracted to you. Unicorns love virgins from what I hear.
Memory Stone and "This is for your own good" in next chapter.
INCOMING MINDWIPE!
You know, if Twilight's parents tore Cinch a new one in the last chapter, I'm convinced Twilight tore Walflower an even bigger one. Go Twilight! Seriously, I'm glad she's not backing down on this.
A real friend might worry about the target on Twilight's back, but they'd have that back covered themselves (like Indigo).
Poor Sunset indeed. Let's mix the magical unicorn with the supposedly crazy occultist family member.
I'm more intrigued by Twilight having read about Changelings and her fear of being one even if she mostly got over that (maybe not completely though, seems like emotion can win over logic there still for her). Having read that book might actually help her in the future?

My bet is probably not if Wallflower has anything to say about it. Also yeah, Unicorns exist here Twiggles. You're dating one.
As for keeping the old, I doubt Twilight will do so.
If you think it's fun telling relatives you're a pagan try explaining to your highly religious father in law you're a Taoist and believe that if God is real he tired of his toys and moved on elsewhere. Oh, the looks and sputters!
Anyhow. Yeah, old school Fae and fairy folk lore. That stuff is fascinating and scaaaaaary. Try to imagine people of old trying to explain puberty and hormonal imbalance as "my child is a changeling!"
Also, now I'm curious how many languages Twi is fluent in.

Yeah, I think there was a deliberate attempt to cast most of them as something like literary foils, in the same way Sunset Shimmer is a literary foil of Pony Twilight. They just...didnt have enough time or space to do all of it. But it was with that concept in mind that I approached Indigo as a character...that she's...kind of like Dash, but different in some key ways. Like this Indigo...doesnt quite have Dash's outspoken confidence or sheer defiance of people's opinions.
There is the matter of the magic Cinch and the Master are exerting on the students of CPA. What would that do, if push came to shove? How would Indigo react? Time will tell, I suppose.

*chuckles* I told you it would start coming together. We're getting there. >:}

*cackles wickedly*

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to make the "unicorns and virgins" joke. You know RD is going to beat that horse to death eventually.

You can only push a person so far. Everyone has that breaking point where they push back. Seems like Sunset might be Twilights.
And yes, there's a joke in the whole "crazy occultist family member" interacting with "actual sorceress."

Its one of those things that happens more than gets talked about, with smart kids (especially early and voracious readers) who are socially...different than the societal norms and standards expected. This sense of feeling "Other" and like an eternal outsider, and the fact is, fairytales, folktales, myths...those things can actually be a case where they draw parallels to their own Otherness and the ones the stories talk about.
I dealt with it in a fashion--for me it wasn't changelings, but it was in this incredible desire to seek out the fantastical, the Other, the Macabre and bizarre. (I was a huge fan of Tim Burton's work as a child, and Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice spoke deeply to me in both live action and animated form. "I myself am strange and unusual," after all.) And as an adult, I've talked to plenty of people who could be or are classified as neurodivergent, queer, hyper-intelligent, and/or social awkward, etc, who have all shared similar stories of being drawn to something that felt it echoed their own feelings and innate knowledge of "I'm different." Twilight's minor flashback and worries there were more a representation of that alienation that so many people go through as children and teens...and even as adults.
Though, yes, there may be knowledge left behind from that. Let's see if we get to the point where it will be useful.

Ah yes. Conversations like that are...something else. Sometimes I have to juggle the "Which is harder to come out about: being a filthy dirty heathen pagan, or being a queer, gender non-conforming polyamorous individual for whom there aren't any concrete labels?"
Ironically, the second one usually gets a better reaction than "I dont worship your god."
Look, there's a reason there are rules about not offending "The Good Folk." Seriously. There are just reasons not to. To this day, when I go out to old forests and very wild places, I bring some kind of food and drink to leave in offering on the way in, just as a "better safe than sorry" thing. Because *shivers* I'd rather be wrong and be feeding the wildlife, than be wrong and run afoul of the Third Race.
As for Twilight's linguistical abilities...
She learns languages for fun. Human languages, programming languages, eh. Its knowledge, and often useful. At this point in the story, she is obviously familiar with English, and is well versed in both Latin and Greek because those are the languages associated with scientific fields, in particular, nomenclature. She's the kind of person to learn both, simply because she likes knowing what all the science words mean. She's taking Italian in school because Cady is actually fluent in Italian--her family is Italian in origin, much the same as Luna and Celestia's family. Twilight also might know just a smidgeon of German, and a few words in Hebrew...mostly because Velvet's...grandmother? Great-grandmother? (I've got it written down somewhere) was a German Jew who fled with her family across the ocean before they started locking them up. (The family isn't practicing, obviously, but its one of those "odd tidbits of family history" that Twilight might take interest in at some point.)
There is this loose plan that in the future (post Rubicon) that Twilight and Sunset take to learning languages as a hobby. Sunset herself is fluent in about half a dozen Equestrian languages after all.

Hi! Welcome to the story! I’m glad uou seem to be enjoying it so far!
Yes, theres few comments in a lot of the early chapters. Part of the issue is that I showed up…late to the party, as it werr, and started posting as FiM was ending, and EqG not far behind it. This, coupled with the story being preemptively rated M for long term content reasons, means that it has had a much smaller audience than other tales.
While its a little disappointing at times that some of the names I normally see commenting on every Sunset story have never been in my comments section, I am content with the knowledge that I have a modest but dedicated readership, especially since quite a few of them are extremely vocal and chatty—and very enthusiastic—about my little contribution to the world of fanfiction.
I hope that you continue to enjoy reading.

Friendship? Fiendship? Eh. One letter difference.
11621967
Yes. Your daily dose of adorabetes in literary format.

She’s not really human. Ponies have so little in common with humans that it feels…arrogant and ignorant to assume that every aspect of their culture, psychology, and history would mimic ours. That was enough for my word building brain to run with.
11622034
*Dun dunn duuuuuuunnnnnn*
11622118
Like with the world building, my brain asked “why? Why did she do it?”
11622134
Pretty much. Sunset never stood a chance with someone that cute.
11622168
Looks like a textbook case of “beeeest friends” to me, your honor. Maybe theyre roommates. ;P
11622227
We all know Cady ships it.
11622250
Hehe.
11622272
So glad you liked it! :) theres plenty more great scenes to come, i promise!
11622321
*chuckles*
11622843
Hope you never find out.
11623380
Thank you. We now have another kitty, who is a rambunctious sweetheart. Wont ever replace my little cuddle buddy, but he is sweet.
11623394
She'd have to fight Mama-Velvet first.
11623412
SURPRISE! Cranky fought monsters.
11623436
*tilts head and squints* Hmmm...maybe. Cant remember if I wrote that before or after I watched the new She-ra.
Twilight having a backbone, color me surprised
