cliffhangers are evil but thanks for the chapter
Well, it's nice to finally see Rainbow's PoV, and see how she's not being an asshole just for the sake of it

Seconded.

Oh yes. Dash...was never mean for meanness' sake. It's always been about "protecting her friends," right from the get go. But that goes hand in hand with stubbornness, like I pointed out, so...she comes off as a right bitch about it.
And I thought about posting the follow up chapter, but I wasn't sure. I still have like a 20 chapter buffer of material edited and ready to post, but I'm trying not to burn through them too fast. The part I'm working on now is going way slower than anticipated, because its a difficult portion of the story, where I have to map out the psychology of things that will play a major role down the line in the second arc, as well as serve to bridge the first and second arcs together. And give our characters some downtime from "MAGICAL DISASTERS."

And so the veil falls back, and the light shines in. I never got the impression that RD was being an ass to Sunset because she was trying to pay her back. It was always "you have to earn my trust, and that's going to be a long, winding road."
My absolute favorite part of this was Pinkie's comments about her smiles. She's often written as throwaway comic relief but she's more intelligent and insightful than people give her credit for, and I thought that was captured perfectly here.
So while I was rereading, I couldn't help but notice that Rarity and Applejack's relationship isnt playing a big part in the story. Is that going to become relevant in the newer chapters, or was it just a nice little snippet?
Rereading this, I think I spotted a little detail? What is Scootaloo's relation to Starlight House? I know that canon pony-Scoot lives with her aunts because her parents are busy, but that reveal didn't happen until S8 or S9, and before that, the most common assumption was that she was an orphan.
Honestly, I came into this chapter with a bad feeling, knowing Dash's stance on Sunset, but left very pleased, knowing this was her turning point. But the further revelation of realizing this is even worse than they thought sealed the deal for Rainbow.
And the fact that Sunset was protective of the kids of the orphan house, even on her early days as a bully, makes sense considering she's somewhat of an orphan herself.
Ahh my only true weakness, Fluttershy being serious about things like this
up to this point i have been happy and enjoying the story, but this chapter..... it made me cry, your evil Majadin, so evil.... but damnit your writing is wonderful.
