Twilight does have a lot on her plate in Equestria, yes. Part of that is the map-table, but...don't take the Episodes in the show as Gospel. There's things going on in the Rubicon universe that play into things diverging on both sides of the portal, Whatever reasons she has for speaking to Luna...they will come out during Supernova, but for now, its just...that she's super busy in Equestria.
The comic books would remain unaffected. There is a rule for what changes and how and why, but I don't want to give that away. It is fairly safe to say though, that non-magical, non-living objects are mostly unchanged by the transit. Comic books, photos, gemstones, gold coins, books, rocks, things like that would be fairly unaffected.

Now you're getting it!

....I'm now picturing Spike trying to read Inuyasha. Thank you for that.

To be fair, she knows WHAT therapy is...just...not the details of how it works. :P And I'm not sure her coping mechanisms are...the healthiest.
The pair of them are pretty good at reading each other. Scary good sometimes. >.>
Some villains do have standards. In this case, its part "standards" and part "Culture clash." The fact is, a lot of modern western homophobia is rooted in religious origins, a socio-cultural push for "reproducing early and as much as possible," and a few other societal-cultural events/contexts...much of which is non-existent for Equestria. Without those things as an impetus, what we see as modern homophobia, and the associated anxieties for the queer community just...didn't happen in Magic Pony Land. To Sunset "Being Gay" is...literally a non-issue--she doesn't stop to consider people's sexualities pretty much at all. They are into what theyre into and it has nothing to do with her. (Even in the early chapters, she never even considers the "what if Twilight doesn't like girls" conundrum that is at the heart of a lot of queer-romance drama--Twilight does. Sunset is more fixated on the whole "I'm a unicorn from another dimension" issue.) Thus, Villain-Sunset was weighing what for her was a non-issue-that-made-no-fucking-sense against a concept that is (World-Building Spoiler) one of the greatest punishments in Rubicon's pony society: Someone being cast out from their family. She was a lot of things, but the whole concept of family (which she has always longed for and been denied) is a very powerful thing in her own culture, and the act of casting someone out of a family was never something done willy-nilly. Kinda in the order of "killing someone so you can have the last chocolate pudding in the lunchroom for the day"--extreme and unnecessary when shoving them out of the way works just as well.
Expectation: Sunset was a bit of a Mean Girl (TM)
Reality: Sunset was a Mean Girl who turned into a literal demon.
Twilight's reaction to finding out: "...oh. Wow..." *develops about a dozen new weird fantasies.* (its always the quiet ones)
Rarijack: The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
DO NOT GIVE THE HALLMARK CHANNEL IDEAS. They'll somehow make it a Christmas movie. And a Romcom.
Yes. Her therapist's full name is "Gently Soft-spoken."
And that is a big problem for Sunset ever getting therapy. She has to start with "I'm actually a magical unicorn sorceress from another dimension..." Things like that are often followed with "And how long have you been a magical unicorn?"
We draw on what we know. Hers are pony manners. (and when you compare horse mannerisms to human etiquette, you get some interesting things in where they overlap.) Hence why Twilight draws some very interesting conclusions.

Eeeeeyuuuuuuuuuup.
No, most adults would regard that as a 'fish story,' at best.
Sunset is trying to be a good friend. She's learning! Its not really helping Flash not feel awkward, but...
Also, yes. Princess Twilight didn't really think about that...although once again, this is actually cultural--schooling in Equestria is very different from the modern American model. Partially because beyond a certain point, its not mandatory. That comes from the fact that many young ponies have cutie marks that guide them into careers. Education beyond basic knowledge for ponies is often highly specialized academic fields for extremely difficult skillsets: Magic, medicine, chemistry/alchemy, hard sciences, etc. And even those vary from each other in how long it would take a pony to obtain mastery in their field. Plus...well...she's not great at guessing human ages. Until she gets to know them a lot better, all these monkeys look alike.

*Thunder rumbles ominously*
Hey Jay. :P Glad you're still with us!
Wooo boy. That was interesting. From a stress induced, PTSD panic attack to Street Fighter sparring session. What Sunset should find interesting, in addition to generating magical fire is the location in which it manifested. Instead of funneling it through her horn it came to her fists. Learning to channel it would help with surge control. Or so I would think. Rarity's shields and constructs were always cool. As far as next week, oooooh you tease. Can't wait.
I have been traumatised.
Also, yay for Sunset getting a power rework. The whole peeking into people's mind thing was cool and all, but she is definitely more the type to commit unintentional arson.

I will keep that divergence in mind going forward. I look forward to Supernova as well as Memories of a Little Sun. From what I gather, the latter is going to be a prequel of sorts to Rubicon, possibly Celestia reminiscing the good times and bad times about Sunset leading up to her departure, while the former runs parallel to Rubicon (a paraquel if you will), dictating events going on in Equestria while our unicorn-turned-human is living her life in supposed exile.
As for the recent chapter...
Glad to see Rarity's keen eye is picking up on Sunset's distress and willing to talk things out.
And now Sunny has a capable sparring partner (besides supposedly Shining).
Good thing Sunset was restraining herself when teaching Twilight, otherwise the whole fire thing might be hard to explain...
Sunset is always a pyro at heart hehe.
i enjoyed reading that sparrin match
So Sunset's a pyromancer? Hopefully she learns to control that before she accidentally torches something, or someone.
Oh yeah. That was good stuff. Very nice job on the descriptions in the fight. Not that it matters much, but since Rarity's dad got her into self defense does that mean Sweetie Bell is next? I could see could see the other Crusaders getting a real kick out of her being able to fight.
that's an interesting switch in powers and again who knows what formerly demonset will do if/when she escapes.
That was an epic battle, I must say. I like how everyone’s powers (at least the one’s we’ve seen) have been showing themselves. It makes a lot of sense for Rarity to be a hidden badass, actually. She does seem like the type to want to be able to protect herself, if needed. I always liked the idea of Sunset having pyrokinesis or really just any sort of fire power. The telepathy will be missed, though.
Nooo I hate being up to date on a story. I always hit the end wanting more
11420098
*smirks* There was certainly a lot going on in this chapter.
And if you think I'm awful this week, wait til you read the chapter next week.
11420134
*maniacal laughter.*
11420136
Yes, Rarity is...pretty good at picking things up.
And yes, would have been awkward to explain the pony-up AND accidentally setting her girlfriend on fire if she didn't hold back with sparring with Twilight.
11420147
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire!
11420242
I really enjoyed writing it, so I'm glad people liked it.
11420284
Haha! Sunset and Control have a...love-hate relationship, at best.
11420287
Sweetie Bell likely has had lessons, but as she is not really a focus, that won't come up much. The CMC are, at best, minor side characters.
11420332
*cackles* That is a question, isnt it?
11420363
No seems about it. Rarity is a hidden badass if you pay attention. (In the FiM pilot, pony Rarity full on bucks a manticore in the jaw without hesitation.) And yes, Sunset is very Fire-aligned, so pyromancy is something that seems reasonable for her to be good at.
*chuckles*
11420930
Well, there's an update next week, then I'll be on hiatus until after New Years. Then It should be back to the weekly updates.
11420649
*smiles* oh I have many plans for her.
11420942
Thats a very interesting theory you have there.
oh noooo
sunset's gotta learn about demons eventually, but even reading the table of contents leading her into panic is not great...
heheh, they're not subtle
awwww!
oooooh
