Well at least her magic killed that damn pen.
Sadly, I doubt getting Twilight out of that horrible place is going to be so easy.
I wanna know if there's anything left in the house or the pen was the only "cursed" object from the school. Twilights still getting effected either way but if Sunset destroyed what was in the house subconsciously that would be nice.
Much like herd animals, pack animals tend to be protective of what they consider their ingroup. Velvet's a good mom, and a good person. I'm glad Sunset, Twilight and Cadance have her in their lives.
The implications that Sunny and Philomena got up to things back on Equs was delightful. I can only imagine the mischief your Sunset and my Sunset from Phoenix-born could get up to with their respective partners in crime.
Also, the evil clinging to the pen and Sunset's own magic retaliating when it tried to get at her makes me wonder just how much of Twi's stuff is contaminated with evil.
The suspense, it's delicious.

*chuckles* like everything else about the story, its something that's been building all along, but slowly...and in this case, picking up steam. Though, as always, I do try to be tasteful. This isn't a smut story, and it never will be, no matter what situations happen. :}

It certainly would be something, wouldn't it?

Her magic did not care for that pen. At all. Now if only she could do that to CInch, hmm?
11046598
You'll find out. Bruhahahaha

Velvet is, like I like to joke, one of the true heroes of the story. She's only a secondary character, but she has such an impact on Sunset that its just....the story would not be what it is without her as she is.
Sunset and Philomena were tiny, impish pranksters. They got up to all kinds of mischief in the palace, most of it harmless, but all of it comical. (It should not surprise you in the least to learn that "violated statue" was actually Discord.) I rather suspect that Rubicon Sunset and your Sunset would get along like a house on fire, and oof. There would be trouble. Bonus points because Rubicon Sunset's actual magical specialty was spell construction and deconstruction. She could pick apart, modify, create, and otherwise engineer her own spell matrices to do exactly what she wanted. I feel like combining that with a young artificer and both of them having fiery tempers and strong *OPINIONS* of certain types of people...well. Disaster in the making, lol.
*suspenseful music* How much is tainted indeed?
So what are the odds Twilight had her magic sensor detector running and she notices the energy surge located in her house, at the same time frame as the pen blowing up in Sunset’s hands? Also, with that previous reveal of Sunset knowing magical formulas and claiming it was too secret research from her adoptive mother... when does Twilight come to the conclusion The reason her adoptive mother was so emotionally neglectful was that Sunset was purely an experiment/test subject in genetic modifications to harness the magical energy?

I'm so glad for Twilight Velvet in this story. But also for Night Light, Shining and Cadence. Any scene where any of them show how much they care for Sunset just makes my day.
velvet really really cares and she's wonderful
i really hope they actually manage to get twi out
both because it'd keep twi farther away from cinch and because it'd put a ticking clock behind sunset's explanations
tick tock sunset! clock is ticking!
more emotion based energy surges, ah the joys of being an empath....
and potentially an emotivore, though with what's happened so far i can't imagine she'd be one to anywhere near the extent of the previously encountered ones, more a powerup than a primary food source
oh wow that'd cause lots more angst

Odds that the sensors were running? High.
Odds that Twilight will pick up on magical shenanigans with them? Also pretty high.
The bigger question is “does she have a way of triangulating the source yet?”
As for assumptions Twilight will or wont make…you’ll just have to wait and see! ;)

Sunset Shimmer has been firmly adopted by the family. She’s still processing the depths of that belonging and the concept of being loved.

Velvet is best mom, lol. She’s modeled in part after my own mother, who was “that mom” to all my friends that didnt judge and welcomed them in with warmth and smiles. She’s even gotten unofficially adopted by one of my “best bros” as “Mom” and he does stuff like call her on mother’s day and stuff. So Velvet (and Night) are reallu representative of the concept of unconditional love and acceptance, something Sunset was desperately in need of.
As for getting Twilight out of that school, Velvet clearly would pull her the next day if she could. The problem is convincing everyone else.
And regardless of where Twilight is going to school, that clock is already ticking for Sunny.
I believe Sunset has already mentioned but magic and emotion are linked, soooo…hooray surges!

*chuckles* i’m an ex-LARPer from the various oWoD orgs, such as OWBN and TGN. That shit’s my bread and butter when it comes to insidious villains. I keep things like Book of the Wyrm on hand for reference material. Believe me when I say theres at least a little oWoD influence in these pages. In fact, the name that “the Master” calls Cinch is basically a Werewolf reference in disguise.
You had me going... Leeeeaning forward much like Velvet and Cadence were likely doing. Juuuust waiting for her to just SAY IT. I aaaaaalmost thought she was going to say it. Not that I'm displeased with the way it went but another part went just say "I'm in love with your daughter.". Death to all evil pens! Long live the Bic round stick!
I forgot what was wrong with the pen but Velvet is probably wondering what the frig happened to the pen. Nice chapter otherwise.
11047408
Got you on the edge of your seat over that, huh? :P *wicked cackling*
And yes, evil pens. Everyone's picked one or two up in their lifetime--little bastards get me every time--they write for everyone but me, or on every surface but the exact one I NEED to write on.
11047829
Not necessarily. I've had cheap pens shatter in my hand before, no magic needed. Velvet may just write it off as "the pen was cheap trash." Sunset, though...who knows?
11053072
I don't think embarrassment was the emotion either of them was feeling at that moment. :P
Ding dong, the wicked pen is gone!
