The joys of a repressed lesbian in a north korean school
every time we check in with twilight it's a coin toss of if it'll be an adorable gay moment or the slow slide into overarching obsession at the behest of a person eating fae and her spirit overlord, so it's a bit of a mess!
today looks like the latter...
highly irrational she says, immediately after spending time with sunset which would obviously make the malicious presence more interested in her
oh fuck
everything is fine
geeeeez, how much of this is wallflower just being insufferable and how much of this is the school's constant negative magic being a bad influence
as per the previous comment, it's perfectly reasonable for her to be insufferable at the moment, but it doesn't change the fact that she's being insufferable
faint... right...
only one knee??
what
oh well don't answer i'd probably rather not know
why do i have the feeling that the combination of "mass school assembly" and "twilight must attend" is nefarious and horrifying?
probably nothing.
This Is Fine
heh
i don't actually, unless it's partially based on a canon speech that i've forgotten about
there's no way whatsoever that cinch would intentionally manipulate results to get twi on the team, nope nope nope, i'm sure everything's fine
ah fuck, it's friendship games time!! everything's going to fall apart right quick!
Ah yes, the high and mighty "superior" attitude of CPA. Reminds me of Canterlot nobility.
You would think that with CPA winning all the time, they would get bored and want a competent challenge from CHS, but no, a challenge would mean a risk of losing and CPA just wants to steamroll CHS. Well, hate to break it to ya, you stuck-up, arrogant, entitled, elitist snobs, you need 20 CCs of humility and the united strong CHS is gonna give it to you.
For all the talk of what they "deserve", they deserve to knocked down several pegs, not just one.
Looks like giving her soul to a demon is paying dividends already! Wonder if Sunset is getting any hints or feelings about that mental conversation.
Hope the deal with a devil has a greater claim than the fae contract. She'll need all the help she can get.
*steals Majadin's fans and any manure they might have before hunkering down for the impending shitstorm.*
Nice lead in however.
Well, Wallflower is showing CPA's influence a little right now. Of course, the loss of the delicate components to the detector are "problematic," since the loss of that thing would be such a tragedy. Of course, the more concerning thing is that the school seems aware of Twi getting a lot of the darkness scrubbed out of her by Sunset's light.
Twiggles' mind Sunset seems to be growing stronger each chapter. Wonder if there's some actual mystical connection, or if Susnet's influence is growing strong enough for her to have developed a "personality" within Twi's mind's eye. Either way, I'm glad it's helping her.
Also, Twi, there's nothing wrong with finding the individuals you are attracted to attractive, or enjoying the view. Just so long as you remember that they're people, not possessions.

Ayup. There's a definite amazing "Best Buds" friendship in the works. Because while Luna could get it, Luna is...a trusted adult, not a peer. Luna is someone Sunset has come to respect as an authority, perhaps even more than Principal Celestia, for reasons that may or may not be obvious, lol.

I think it helps that there were never feelings on Sunset's side of things, and that Flash is just a really good person all the way around, rather than the type of guy who believes "friendship" with a girl means "maybe someday she'll want something more" (There are an uncomfortable amount of guys I've met that are like this, and I have to be the "not-a-guy guy-friend" to be like "bro, that's not cool."), or the guy who gets upset when a girl says "you're not my type" and makes it about him, instead of just respecting it as a choice. Flash....just respects people. He's a good dude, who wants to help and do the right thing and be a good pal.
His mother...well. She might be a bit of a different story, all in all. Mothers worth a shit tend to remember when someone hurts their kid and they tend to be...a lot less forgiving.
11331626
She sure does. Ten year olds are like that.
11332270
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. *rainbow explosions*
Sure. Lets go with that.
Sunset's finances are well in hand. Hoof. Appropriate grasping appendage. After all, she DOES come from a world where what we consider precious gemstones are so common that several species eat them, and a small town fashion designer can apparently just...shovel them up out of the ground to attach them to clothing in color coordinated outfits. There's stuff ponies throw in their kitchen junk drawer that is worth upwards of about half a billion dollars. Do not ask how many zeroes are really in Sunset's bank account. Or who actually owns the building she lives in. :P
Its not even pop-culture...its just culture. Women grow up with a whole bunch of subtle social cues and pressures around romance and what romance is "Supposed to look like." Guys do too, to a lesser extent, but its pushed really hard on girls. Dinner and a movie, looking for Mr. Right, the idea that you need a "prince charming" for your "happily ever after"...its a long standing cultural thing in most cultures (though the exact manifestation varies from culture to culture) that girls and young women are supposed to get together with and marry a nice young man whom their family approves of, and that if she doesn't she's somehow failed at being a woman or there's something wrong with her. Even the tropes around "the bad boy" or "the fixer-upper" or the "let me introduce you to this nice young man/my brother/my friend/this neighbor boy" are still part of this weird cultural concept that subtly stresses that a woman's value/worth/social esteem is tied to romance and relationships. Its getting a bit better with every generation, but its slow--even in the late nineties, I was treated like there was something wrong with me by older relatives because how dare I still be a gender neutral, somewhat ambiguous tomboy not interested in romance at 16?
Though, regardless, yes. Sunset is just like "is that what you humans think? Your species is weird."
Yes. Much awwww.
Hey, its a different region. Just a different region of space-time.
Yes. More awww. These girls are so soft and sweet and we love them.
11332284
No one in this story ships Sciset harder than Shipper Cady.
Sunset is many things when it comes to her emotions. Subtle is not one of them. And yes, I was proud of that line.
Let's face it, Sunset's a hot mess. She's emotionally stunted, got a lot of underlying issues, and she's an interdimensional teen runaway orphan with some serious mommy issues, and she deals with species dysphoria, and serious culture shock. Its pretty amazing she's doing as well as she is and isn't completely catatonic in a corner. :P
its...well...Culture shock is a thing. It comes in a lot of forms. Sunset was trying to hide her foreign-ness, so she couldn't ask...and didn't know what to ask anyway. So yeah, she tried to learn from the easiest available sources: books, tv, and the internet. ....which might explain why she's kind of a hot mess with large gaps in her knowledge.
Sunset: Oh good, I didn't have to go into it. The perfect excuse!
Sunset has a really solid identity. Let's just go with that.
...I'm...going avoid getting into a can of worms about the police force. Let's just go with the universe of Rubicon is a bit nicer than ours, and leave it there.
Yes. Cadence is pretty fucking awesome.
11332312
All Cadence is missing is the supervillain cat.
And yes. Glamour. We're not done with her yet. She'll be cropping back up here and there. Bruhaha.
Yes. Gay. That's pretty well established that there is gay in this story. :P
Just remember. Its canon that human Twilight tells dad-jokes. And math jokes. and then laughs about them.
I was wondering if anyone laughed about the Sappho joke.
Dream-Sunset certainly did SOMETHING. What is...weeeeeell...you'll see. *throws more rainbows around like confetti*
Heh. Is all that we see or seem but a Dream within a Dream?
Things are definitely going on...but what...well...You'll see.
11332315
*maniacal author laughter*
11332344
Flash is Best Bud. He stands by his weird pony friend.
The punishment fits the crime. She abused power in the school, so now she's not allowed to have any official power. She doesn't really want it anyway. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.
*pats* no need to scream.
Sunset needs some rest. Poor thing.
I mean, its not like being an emotiphage comes with a handbook.
Flash is a solid pal. He's reliable like that. Gives good advice, isn't afraid to call you out on your shit, then does something ridiculous to make you laugh.
I'm glad you find Flash's sister amusing.
Yes, but when faced with the choice of "angry mom" or "broken glass" I think I too would prefer "broken glass."
11336303
Free thought is not allowed. Conformity is encouraged. Deviance will be punished.
11336327
So very true. Its almost like there are two opposing forces fighting for control over her life. Imagine that.
So irrational.
Mmmhmmm.
Everything is not fine.
*spreads hands* you'll have to decide that for yourself. Is Wallflower a bad person, or is the school making her into a shitty friend?
Look, Twilight is bad at reading tone. Also, Wallflower is pretty deadpan in canon most of the time. Which I run with as she's sarcastic, but deadpan sarcastic, as opposed to deliberate sarcastic like Sunset. Or AJ. Who does sarcasm pretty well.
Um...the "one knee approach" is a euphemism.
Its not nothing.
Its not fine.
Cinch's speech here was written using the scene in her office from Friendship Games as the backbone. The scene where she bullies Twilight into competing, spends like five minutes talking about "reputation", has like the ONLY line from EqG Shining in the whole series. That speech.
Because of course the ancient fae wouldn't. No no. Never.
We are headed into that, yes. From here on out the fluff will be...more sparing as plot ramps up.
11336371
yes. They do need to be knocked down a few pegs. Would you like to come up behind and give them a good shove? :P
11336407
*maniacal author laughter.*
11336479
*gives a nice milkshake* It'll be okay. I promise.
11336801
Gladly
Though I'm sure there's a line-up of CHS students waiting already.
Wallflower needs a date. *Story idea pops in my head* Yessssss that will do nicely.
I like mental Sunset as much as I like physical Sunset. So supportive of her girl. And yeah, this shit is about to get real.
did I just call Cinch's nickname
