AAAAH! This is just so adorable! *squeees*
...
So how long until the other shoe drops? Because as well all know, the Universe can't allow Sunset Shimmer to be happy.
Can't really fault Sunny's line of reasoning here.
mmm, that *is* odd. Could it be a culprit that starts with "W" and ends in "indigo"?
Aah, so *that's* coming up. Wonder if we'll see a certain trio show up.
Oooof.
'Bout time she began to see a return from her good actions. She really needed it.
Ok, i'm a tad confused here. Is this about the incident where she saved Twilight? Because I believe this was supposed to be a secret between the two of them and I don't remember any mention of someone else witnessing. Or is this about some other time? Was it mentioned previously? Sorry if it was, while I'm keeping up it's easy for some of the finer details to slip my mind.
D'awwww
There's a reason it's such a big fodder for fix fics.
I think she was fine. It reminds me of a "guide to characterization" I read some time ago that stuck with me: It stated that Pinkie (at least pony one, but it could possibly extrapolate to human!Pinkie) suffers from Depression and I couldn't help but think of comparisons between her and Robin Williams, and when I did a lot of her quirks began to make sense.
I thought it was a reference to the other Starlight for a bit there, heh.

The shoe is a very big boot, and believe me, its on its way.
...You might be on the right track with an emotiphage being responsible for the sudden change in temperature. Or not. After all, temperature changes and cold spots often go hand in hand with all manner of supernatural or psychic phenomena.
Yes. The Showcase. I will say now that Rainbow Rocks will be the most similar to its actual movie version, for several reasons. 1. The story for it is good. Straight out. It has some flaws, but the story is good and enjoyable, and it really shows us Sunset's growth and a real measure of "Yeah, she has to work at redemption." 2. Timeline Divergence. This story will be fairly close to the point of divergence from actual canon, which means less choices and actions to further separate the them from one another. 3. Because I picked the movie apart, frame by frame, scene by scene, and the actions and things we see from Sunset work really well with the narrative I'm telling. Seriously. The movie might as well be "Sunset's Emotional Rollercoaster" because holy hell, her emotions are jerked all over the map, often in very rapid succession. That does not mean it will be exact, since for starters, its an internal perspective for Sunset and focuses more on her emotions and feelings and behaviors off screen...and well, I wanted the Sirens to be a little more than just power hungry teenage cunts. 4. It actually is huge source for some of the divergence, and major plot points that will be manifesting later.
Your confusion is...not entirely unfounded. I hinted in the chapter where she fights the thugs and saves Twilight (and in later chapters) that she has encountered them before, a number of times. She's familiar with them, they live in the same part of town she does, and there's a history that will be...touched on periodically as part of the extended story in future chapters. For now, I beg your patience.
Pinkie is...a very complex character, I feel, with a lot of important points to her character. However, that competes against the nature of cartoons, particularly with young children as their demographic. Its not impossible to have good characters, but censorship often limits just how you can present things about a character. However, I have no such restrictions, and I put that M rating at the start because I know I'm going to deep dive into shit that wouldn't be out of place in a World of Darkness game. In the case of the main characters, I'm trying to really flesh them out into real people, and Pinkie has some...special and unique traits that I find vital that have little to do with the "Rule of Funny." In a sense, her element isn't just about Humor. Its about Hope and Morale and the things that make us keep going when Darkness and Evil would see us drown in Despair--look at the FiM pilot. She revitalizes party morale when they are the closest to breaking and running that they get. That's important, and its what I was going for here, because if anyone needs that morale boost and a little hope, its Sunset.
And yes, I realize some people would assume its a reference to Starlight Glimmer, but I will always associate "Starlight" with Jem. Besides, Jerrica and her sisters all look like they belong in the Equestria girls universe anyway.
I don't blame Sunset for not wanting CHS to know about her and Twilight. What with the witch-hunt going on and all. Still, its nice she's got a little slice of happiness to keep her going. Sometimes, that's what you need. At the same time, I can imagine Sunset going Violently Protective Girlfriend the instant someone starts giving Twiggles a hard time in her presence.
Yea, cyber-bullying is often as bad as the physical, if not worse. Especially if its a horde of people. One cyber-bully is awful, but it gets so much worse when there are dozens of them.
The little bit at the end with the Starlight house was a nice touch. It gives Sunset a little light beyond Twiggles that maybe, she's not as terrible as she believes herself to be.

Well, Sunset does have a temper, and she is protective of her friends...and she did already throat punch a dude to rescue the girl, so... Yeah, I wouldnt mess with her girlfriend in her presence.

Hey, when she's your anchor, you do your best to protect it.
As an aside, would you be okay with me putting Cross the Rubicon into a few of the SunLight groups? It might help get it the exposure it deserves.

I wouldnt mind at all. :)

👍 Hey, this story deserves more attention, so hopefully it'll help.
Lots of great things going on here. Sunset needs to get to a point where she doesn't feel the need to read the hate mail every time. I know she feels it's a kind of penance, but that level of self hating is baaaaad. I know from personal experience that one of the best ways to deal with that kind of bullying is to not let them get a rise out of you. Still, Pinkie to the rescue. And yes, even for rock stars the Misfits got away with everything short of murder.

The path to redemption is not a short or easy one, and its a journey with as many internal hardships as external ones. Our girl will get there, eventually.

Thank you so much for the compliment!
As for Principal Celestia, you'll get more pieces to that puzzle in due time.
Pinkie really is a hard character to write but I think you got her right.
I agree with about that comic. It has always confused me.
