After leaving Ponyville, Tempest Shadow's travels have led her to settle down near the edge of the Crystal Kingdom - for now, anyway. She currently works at the Arctic Patrol office with her old-yet-new friend Glitter Drops. Together, they keep an eye on the border of the kingdom and look out for ponies living in the tundra of the Northern Wastes. It's a sedate and oftentimes lonely sort of place, but Tempest doesn't mind - in fact, she thinks it suits her.

This fragile peace is disrupted when a local pony complains about some sort of prank being pulled on them. When Tempest investigates, she's confronted with something much more concerning - and annoying - than she could have anticipated.

This story is a sequel to Why me?

It's that time of year, and Tempest needs to find the perfect present for Twilight. Little does she know that this Hearth's Warming is going to be crazy, but amazing.

Celestia feels as though she isn't as intimidating or helpful in a fight as she once was, and neither is her sister, so she devises a plan to become formidable again. The four Princesses will train intensely for six months, and Rainbow Dash of all ponies will be in charge of the whole thing, the powers of some of the greatest ponies in history at her hooves, including a former commander of the Storm King's army and the great sorcerer Starswirl the Bearded. What could possibly go wrong?

After learning about an upcoming friendship celebration, Ash’s Pikachu and his beloved Nica agree to pay their old friends a visit, once again stepping into the land of Equestria. With their love blooming and eggs close to hatching, they want nothing more than to share their wonderful experiences with their pony friends.

However, Tempest, a self-exiled unicorn, is leading the Storm King’s army to invade Canterlot after months of planning and preparations.

As the clash between Storm's forces and the Thunder duo occurs, Pikachu and Raichu are about to prove that the friendship the ponies shared with the other races isn’t a weakness, but their greatest strength.

Note: This story is set between Seasons 7 and 8, and makes use of the Tempest Shadow AU established in Reformation... It's a Pony Thing. (However, this story provides the necessary background, so it can also be read on its own.)

With the Bearers of Harmony sent on a friendship mission by the map, Applejack asked Tempest Shadow to help Granny Smith who’s alone at the farm. Of course, as soon as she gets there, Granny tells Tempest that something important to the Apple family has been stolen, and she needs Tempest’s help to get it back, sending them both to a den of scum and villainy to do so.

Tempest was hoping for a simple day of bucking apples, but it seems Granny is the boss, and she has other plans.

What everygriff said about ponies was true, Gelfand mused—they were some terribly confused creatures! If it wasn't friendship this, it was forgiveness that. Gelfand didn't presume to understand any of it; but what he did understand, was to never look a gift horse with a guilty conscience in the mouth!
