This was interesting. Your interpretation of why they discovered their cutie-marks is very well sustained by the scenes seen in the movie.
Although, I can't help to notice that Human!Rarity's and Human!Pinkie's "discoveries" do bear some resemblance with the way Pony!Rarity and Pony!Pinkie each discovered their Cuitie Marks, while the rest of the Human!Six discovered why each represent their Element of Harmony, whith Sunset standing as the Element of Magic.
Maybe I'm looking too much into it, or maybe it is another thing the writers didn't want to be consistent about

I loved how the reactions were so in character, but not to the point where it seems that you're forcing it. By that I mean in some stories--Fluttershy is a good example--she will be written way to timid and underdeveloped. But yours was good.
The only thing I dislike about this is that all of the ideas here could be made into their own stories, but now they won't be. In other words, the only thing I don't like is that there isn't more of it!

It's implied that Starswirl's spell was a destiny changing spell. The spell swapped the non-Twilight Mane 6's destinies, and that caused likely both the cutie mark swap and the behavior change.
I wonder if they'll get some equivalent of the Cutie Map as well.
