Twilight needs "more" guards at her castle.
So why not bring all the princesses and tell them to hide. There is no way that those ponies will know that they are there.
Ok things are going Wong very quickly now. I would like to kill the group that decided to do this! Keep making more please!
Would this story burn to with the typos that are found?
Stupid ponies. So you managed to somehow force Silver to burn the letter. Cute. Unfortunately for those morons she is more than capable of sharing her memories with Luna at the very least...
6633425 Sure, though flying off to Luna would take time, and let them know she didn't come straight to the house, which could have consequences.
They've been treading upon a domain that was doomed for failure from the start. Now they cannot turn back and have sealed their fate.
I think Silver has run out of mercy. Hope they don't turn in to too many bloody pieces.
6632966 Actually, I think that they might have some ambient magic detecting spell or a pegasus or Lunar might be spying on Silver right now. Atleast, if they were as smart as they were before.
6633461
True. By this point though it might be a safe bet that if it is a spell she can learn then Twilight might know it as well and she is just a few rooms over. If for some reason Silver knows the spell (or can learn it in a couple of minutes) though, the better idea would be to share the memory with Night and let her explain things while Silver follows the letters instructions. Besides, sharing a memory is not telling someone anything, it's showing so it will still be following the letter of the letter. Actually, on a re-reading of the letter it only said to bring nopony and nothing but the horn ring. Nothing to say that the others can't follow just can't be with her. Crud, it doesn't even say to come immediately or to tell nopony.
6633625 We will discover, soon!
Getting real tired of these...traitors.
Oh great, another hostage situation.
Probably the worst thing to do is immediately rush and follow their demands. If instead Silver announces the kidnapping to the public, how are they going to respond? By harming the foal? Since they have no proof that they made the demand (thanks to their stupidity in self-destructing the note), the public opinion on them can only decrease if it is found out.
If they do indeed go through and harm the foal as implied, then they are the heartless ones and cannot shift any kind of blame onto Silver.
Masked gunmen can't play the victim, after all...
Keep going! ;)
I am feeling at some point Silver needs to come clean with Rough Tumble about there time to gather in that she was faking it but at the same time she needs to show him what she is like now with all of her passion.
as to there foal being foalnapped I say tare every thing apart it is time for heads to fall no one messes with a foal and walks away.
Harts Fire
6634989 Well, sure. If you don't care about the child, this would indeed be the most logical thing to do.
6635605 one does not need to be heartless in order to do the right thing. In fact, it's probably the most loving option.
http://www.truropolice.org/On%20Line%20Manuals/Hostages.pdf
The primary goal is to prevent loss of life. Keeping control of the situation is consistently the best option, and if the aggressors screw it up it's on their heads. Even if they at bat sick insane they will be susceptible to manipulation.
6635775 Your example assumes right from the start that it is a 'hostage'. There's a huge difference in someone held to allow escape, and someone held as a political prisoner. They aren't escaping anything. The situation's wildly different, especially with the 'hostage' already reportedly on their hate list as well.
It's far closer to someone being held for ransom, but again, not exactly?
6635863 even if they don't intend to release their captive, doesn't make it not a hostage situation.
According to Wikipedia, A hostage is a person or entity which is held by one of two belligerent parties to the other or seized as security for the carrying out of an agreement, or as a preventive measure against war. It doesn't mean they intend to release them if their demands are kept (though that doesn't preclude the option either). A ransom is merely a specific type of hostage situation, namely give is some material benefit for the release of thing.
So far they haven't made any demands with promise of return of anything, so it's not quite a ransom hostage situation yet. Indeed, if Silver were to do as they say, it's merely obeisance and indicates he will fold under the mere threat of harm. Granted, we've seen that this is indeed true, but it's not the best situation anyways.
6635927 That's great, but your ENTIRE guide is made with the assumption you can approach a place, which has a hostage, and a hostage taker, and how to react to it.
We have a place that has, maybe, a hostage taker, with the hostage likely not in the same place. Trying to emotionally manipulate what is likely not the actual hostage-taker is going to get a lot of nothing done.
Charging in and murdering everyone in the building, would also not get the hostage free.
The situation is different.
6635949 exactly my point! There are too many unknowns to do much of anything, but at least some information can be gained even if it's not the main boss (so to speak).
Your rebuttal that speaking with anyone less than the head guy is useless is strange and unfounded, especially considering the most recent events involving our star characters, since without their henchmen conversing we would not even know as much as well do now (though it may be very little).
6635961 I'm not saying talking at all is useless, it never is. However, coming in with a police negotiator attitude, hoping to de-escalate the situation with this guy and solve it all? That isn't going to happen. You may get a clue though!
6635982 it's a bad situation no matter the approach. Just another Tuesday, amiright?

6636006 Welcome to Silver's life.
6636101 yes, there should be a field guide or something!
I think that "their" should be "her" (unless is referencing a point in time when Silver was male).
There are two spaces between "down," and "to."
6949927 Damn you double spaces!
Okay, at this point I'm going to go ahead and ask, who exactly is "judging us all harshly and quietly behind our backs," as Twilight put it? Unless I'm seriously misremembering, the only negative popularity Silver and her herd have experienced since becoming official is some rather mild paparazzi activity, and the current group of malcontents (who are little more than domestic terrorists at this point). Human-Silver experienced a "proud to be a pony" mob, but besides that I really don't see what Twilight's talking about.
Simply put, while Silver has experienced some prejudice, the current arrangement of their herd - and the proclivities therein - haven't been shown to be the source of any sort of social scandal that I can see. They had one, just one, noble make a stink at that state dinner a little while ago, but that was eclipsed by Fancy Pants speaking up in Silver's favor. The idea that Silver's herd is being widely viewed as the incarnation of debauchery seems to be limited purely to these new bad guys (and Fleur). To that end, the story hasn't done a credible job of establishing that social norms are a serious problem that need to be addressed.
Beyond that, the entire herd is pretty well assuming that the new plan - for Luna to stud Silver - is a viable one. It's worth remembering that this is just a theory at this point, particularly in light of more than one failed attempt to breed alicorns prior to this. Getting into who's getting pregnant by way of who is kind of premature, even if they are having quite a bit of fun figuring it out. In fact, that part was quite a bit of fun, and it was nice to see Night having to weigh the sexiness of being her hero's broodmare versus the unpleasant realities of pregnancy, to see Fast's jealousy flaring up (she's used to getting to do what, and who, she wants, the poor dear), and to see Twilight's discomfort with the entire idea of her doing it with Celestia. I have to admit, the frank discussion was a good bit of characterization amongst the herd.
I'm also glad they remembered about Tumble; this is the sort of situation where he'd be able to play a part. I still feel bad for him though; he's clearly made an effort to transcend sexual preferences the way Silver and Fast (and most of the rest of the herd) have, but in all honesty he shouldn't have to in the first place. I suppose using that gender-bending spell will have to be enough.
As for this nameless group of pony-supremacist...they've now sunk to foalnapping infants. At this point, they've managed to thoroughly obviate any claim of righteous intent by way of their underhooved tactics. You can't save a society by transgressing all of its values. Let them reap what they've sown.
6949958 Some things don't quite line up right, it's true...
Silver means to prove the pony way is the right way, even if some ponies went and forgot that somewhere along the way.
Awww! Come on!!

Good thing you haven't left their gliph in the end. I like my phone.
