I'm starting to doubt the "completeness" of this story. Not complaining. I was okay with the end. but I'm glad to see the story moving on.
Maybe the complete tag is the grandest of typos this story has seen.
I'm glad to see the story moving on. Come on Silver Stars.
You don't need "a" twice in the second half of that sentence; delete one instance of it.
Night wrapped her "forelegs" around Fast.
She hadn't hopped "far."
Now they just need to use the other him as blue print to fill up all of Silver's missing pieces.
6516001 Typos located and taken care of with all due diligence.
If they have a piece of his soul ,what's stopping them from using that to guide the rest of it back?
I'm not sure I accept Fast's departure at face value, there's gotta be something else here...
Keep going! ;)
I am having mixed feeling about the ending of this story and how the family is excepting the loss of Silver Stars and at the same time watching how it is tarring apart a herd / family that really should be puled to gather titer with this loss.
I have complete trust in David Silver and his ability's. is was it time for this part of Silvers life to close to be honest I think it was. if there is a new story to be born out of Silver Start's life only the text knows for sure.
to be honest this is painful to watch this wonderful family rip it's self apart like this.
so I think at this point I am going to steep back and see ware this is all going.

When i wrote that i dident like the ending that Silver died it wasent becuse he died per say, but i felt that Twilight, Celectia, Luna and the rest of the characters that Silver has bonded to wouldent youst roll over and say "owell hes dead time to move on" when there are ways to bring him back that are within their power (stable time paradox ala Twilight) .
And Silver always being doomed and not having a rainbow, sure i can take that,,, but the rest of the chars that Silver has been bound to is protected by destiny, so if they deside that Silver is a part of it Silver should bee safe, until he messes up and lose their favor/love.
And yes, I should have explained mayself better than saying it felt rushed or slapped on.
So thx for addressing what i felt like huge plot holes in the "original ending". More chapters or not i feel like this ending is complete (even if I would like to see it continue ).
6516047 I'm quite impressed with how the story is rebounding from what seemed like a surefire ending. The way these chapters have been going about it is exactly the right way to do it, showcasing various individuals in turn and spotlighting how they're reacting to the news of Silver's death. Between that, and that the majority of the reactions are refusal to accept this lying down, this is a clever way of putting character drama and plot progression forward simultaneously. Hopefully the perspective will keep jumping around for a little bit; I can only imagine how devastated Shei will be from this news, and we haven't seen Nefertari or Tumble's reactions either. Heck, I have to wonder what some of the other ponies (especially the mares) who knew him will think, such as Rainbow, etc.
The bit with Discord was very well done, in that he kept up his role as a trickster while still giving a light rebuke to remind Celestia that he had feelings too. Given that I think that less is more where Discord is concerned, his hinting that Celestia should coordinate her efforts with the others was the right way to go about it. Likewise, having Jake make a quick appearance here as background dressing was the right way to handle his character, since he is.
I also liked how rapidly Night Watch is acclimating to the power that those artifacts grant her. Given her analytical nature, and that she has all five of them, that just feels right for her character. She's always been the sole member of the herd that didn't have anything special in terms of what she could do. Yes, she was insightful and smart, but she was the only one that didn't have some sort of superior power or ability to set her above "normal" ponies. Fast Change is a shapechanger par excellence, and Silver and Twilight are alicorns; only Night was missing something, and now she has it. Even better, this change plays in existing materials rather than needing to introduce anything new; it's exactly the sort of new take on her character that she needs, and deserves.
But once again, the one who stole the scene was Fast Change. I've said before that she's my favorite character in this story, and she just keeps proving me right time and again. Some of the cast have reacted to Silver's death with despair (Celestia and Twilight, initially), others with anger and denial (Night Watch), but Fast Change is reminding us that some people don't react to heartbreak with simple sadness, nor try to attack the underlying problem. Rather, some people react in ways that make things worse, lashing out at those around them or simply running away. Here, Fast Change is doing both.
This fits so well with her character that it's surprising that this course wasn't obvious. Someone who was so quick to accept and embrace others when she feels good would naturally flip-flop on that position when she feels bad. Just like when she pushed Silver and Night Watch away when she went to mother the changelings, only to realize that she was incomplete without them later on, Fast's nature is to pull away from those closest to her when she's hurting. This is not at all a surprise; in fact it goes right back to how she was originally presented to us. When we first met her, she was hiding her true self from everyone, trying to lose herself in false bodies and one-night stands so that she wouldn't need to be her crippled self...and very nearly became a changeling for it. Now, she's reverting back to that behavior, hiding her heart in a (futile) attempt to stem her hurting.
That's why I don't believe the words she said to Night Watch. She's not being honest in her grief, and she's running in exactly the wrong direction. Hopefully he herd-sister won't let her go so easily, even if Fast can be very hard to find when she doesn't want to be (since she can disappear into other identities). I do wonder how Fast knew that Silver didn't mention her in his last moments though...I'm guessing Rainbow had a moment of tactlessness.
So far Night Watch has been holding things together very well, but with her herd crumbling around her, does she have what it takes to keep things together? Or is she just denying the inevitable?
6516892 I agree that Night Watch feels 'right'. Perhaps, in a sense, she feels right too, and is trying to exert her new position. She flexes her newfound physical power, trying to fix this very not-physical problem, or at least keep ponies pointed at the problem, even as other not-physical things collapse around her.
Fast Change deals with things in her own pained way. Perhaps she will return in time, or they will find her and drag her back, but is there time to run after her right now?
Discord said what needed to be said, and no more. I think he did his role quite nicely. He really did get along with Silver nicely, through all of Silver's life stages.
But what does Celestia have in mind? Will Twilight find any answers in her friends?
The desire to buck destiny in the face is rising, but a blind thrashing will change little.
6517470 ok, then should you not change the story status to incomplete then?
6517525 Not until/unless destiny is deemed so.
>.> This will move to private tracking cuz I'm not quite back to this story...
It seem hopeful but also futile.
I have no problem with the main character dying but Silver's death is just...sigh...
I recently read a story about a Mary Sue character slowly un-Mary Sue and become a real character. She eventually died for those that she messed with with her Sueness but it is acceptable because it has meaning, it has acceptable conclusion.

What?
6517670 Have you read up to here?
6517685
What are you waiting for, a back-woods-satanic-black-metal-animal-sacrifice? Because I'm geared for that!
In the name of all that is Profane, Silver Stars.... Rise. From. Your. Grave.
You should all trust in David Silver. nothing happens in the Silver Vers without a reason.
If it is meant to be at some point it will.

yes, i am just not sure what the current chapter content has to do with the status of the story being complete or incomplete.
At this point, I really don't think I'd blame Fast for leaving even after Silver comes back. This herd is just way too much trouble.
any more
Odd I thought Clear Twilight was Twilight's daughter and Morning Glory was Night Watch's son.
What happened to trixie and the other one ( I forgot his name) shouldn't they have been told or a funeral held or something
