There's no need to capitalize "inspiration" there.
In a disturbingly "permanent-looking" way.
6088195 Only two typos? It must be the hundredth episode.
I am not sure if the bracelet is good or bad and what is it doing exactly? Silver has not ben treated vary good when it comes to foreign magic.
I would really hate to have Silver as gelding when he has a huge job ahead of him starting a hole new race of pony's.
Harts Fire
6088314 Entirely appropriate.
What is AmentI up too? Is she trying to take silver from equstria to have as her own? Probably not the best way for the meeting could have been but then again it's silver we're talking about it could have been a whole lot worse. ...wait, could this be a way for AmentI and silver to go at it possibly?
Great chapter, cay wait until the next part
Hopefully if the bracelet can't be removed Silver can at least work his magic (see what I did there) and conceal it to some degree. No need for a neon sign highlighting his junk.
>have a majick thingie locked around your genitals
>can't unlock
>majick your genitals away!
>thingie will get detached
>majick you genitals back!
Problem, questionably motivated feline pharaoh?
WOW
6088555 I don't think that's a very reasonable solution. I think every other male in the room cried a little at your idea.
6089179 but but Silver's secret sex shift spell!
6089243 It's not a genderbender spell. It allows the temporary growth of stallion parts, end. While it might offer reprieve after he's had his bits hacked off, it certainly is far from the ideal way about it, to say nothing of the fact that he has magic alicorn bits that he couldn't be sure he could replicate.
6089260 I was thinking it worked more like "turn my outie into an innie and back!"
6089270 Nope, mares never lost their innie. That was the trick. Actually inverting it would take heaps of magic.
6089284 Uhhh well crap. Isn't he a majickal genius who creates spells for fun? The other way to solve it is to modify the teleport spell so only Silver will move, without any clothing or anything foreign to his body.
6089301 He could try that! He just learned the spell, and needs something else that'd perform the filtering to mix it with. Not being extremely distracted would also help.
6088400
ROFL I can imagine silver screaming like this while Aila was trying to remove the bracelet
6089449 And possibly sliding off the bed, yes, accurate.
BAD KITTY
Only ponies are allowed to force magical changes on silver!
6089347 yeah it kinda dawned upon me that he's not entirely in his top shape at the moment and all. let's just hope that the cocky feline won't get ONE MILLION YEARS DUNGEON! ON THE SUUUUN!!
Jellylestia is something I would like to avoid encountering TYVM.
6088223 Okay, so...Silver goes to talk to Amenti, and does a shockingly good job explaining to her why it's not going to happen, to which her response is to...put a magic ring around his balls? Okay, that was a bit of an odd turn of events.
Focusing on the first half first, I'll say again that I was surprised by just how well Silver handled himself in letting Amenti down. Not only was he very patient with her, and extra careful not to hurt her feelings, he made sure to underline why it was that he was rejecting her advances. He didn't fall back on some ready excuse like "cats don't do it for me," but instead respected her enough to be honest with her...mostly. I sort of doubt the age thing was really anything but an excuse on his part. Still, she brushed that one off quickly enough that it hardly counts. Instead, he reached for the truth; that doing so would hurt both of their political standing, even if she didn't want to acknowledge that.
Of course, while he did manage to talk her down from trying to jump him right there, I don't think he did anything with regards to her feelings overall. The problem with saying "we can't, because of circumstances" is that it doesn't mean that he doesn't want to, which means that she has no reason not to think that her feelings aren't being reciprocated, or at least considered. So Silver ended up leaving Amenti just as infatuated as she was when he arrived, or maybe even more (everyone wants what they can't have, for instance). In this regard, I suspect he'll be okay, simply because time is on his side. The Equestrian delegation isn't going to be in Anugypt much longer - I think five days remaining, now? - at which point he'll be out of her reach, and she'll be left to pine for him (he won't even be able to reach her dreams from Equestria, either).
Of course, five days can be a long time, but it's hard to see how this ends up with anything but Amenti staring wistfully off into the distance as Silver's ship leaves and wondering what might have been...
Ahem. That said, the other major happenstance in this chapter was Amenti's parting "gift" to Silver. In this regard, we have quite a few questions, and almost no answers. That's interesting, but sort of requires that the next chapter or two clarify exactly what this thing does, since there seems to be more than what we were told.
From what Amenti said, the item is meant to be something to give a serious boost to a male's fertility. Okay...but what's the practical impact of this? It's not like Silver was having any problem in that area up until now. True, this does make it seem a lot more likely that he'll be able to knock up Celestia, Luna, and the other alicorns without any particular problems - the story even mentioned that flat-out - but I found myself frowning at that. Having such a convenient solution arise to a problem that's been weighing heavily on Silver's mind (he just did Celestia that morning) strikes me as being much too plot-convenient.
It makes perfect sense that Amenti would be willing to give such an item to Silver, given that his reputation is most forthright about his being a stud. Moreover, I enjoyed the idea that there are various progenitors for more races than just the ponies; that the baastians once had a male going around and "studding" the race into existence was a nice way of contextualizing Silver's role against the background of the world, here; making him less unique, in this regard, helps to tie him into the setting more. The problem I had is that such an item exists at all; from a meta-narrative perspective, suddenly receiving an item out of nowhere that solves your current problem is a little too close to being a deus ex machina for me.
That said, there's clearly more to this thing than meets the eye. As it stands, it doesn't seem to come off, though Amenti's explanation ("It can open, but once it's shut, it's yours, forever.") is a little too concise for me to follow what she means. Saying that "it can be opened," but that once it's closed "it's yours, forever," seems to imply that once closed around a male's sac, it's never going to come off...which raises the question as to how, exactly "it can be opened"? Presumably she meant after said male finally passes away, or under some sort of extraordinary circumstances (e.g. one poster mentioned using a variant teleport spell to teleport and leave it behind, which isn't a bad idea, though I'm dubious that it'll work, considering that thing's energy).
As it stands now, I suspect that there may be other effects that are less obvious than studding alicorn foals. For one thing, what will this do to Silver's normal studding activities? Will he be able to impregnate females now regardless of how they feel about him (e.g. the bit about the mare needing to feel love is waived)? Will he be more likely to sire multiple births in females he claims? Will he be able to impregnate females that aren't ponies (like, oh, say...a cat)? Or, heck, all of the above? This thing is clearly meant to make him into a baby-making machine, so none of these things (or something else in this regard) would surprise me.
As it stands, I confess that I kind of like the idea of Silver having this thing wrapped around his sac and not being able to get it off. That's because this is one of those magic items that's a blessing and a curse...which is to say, it's interesting (this is something I find particularly noteworthy, as my role-playing game background means that I'm used to magic items being an endless array of utterly boring swords +1, etc.). The curse, here, is largely narrative in nature, in that it's embarrassing Silver to death, and has social repercussions in terms of underlining how he's best known for being a stud, with everything else about him not receiving due consideration (that's presuming it doesn't have any sort of literal curse, such as him needing to get off every so often to release the power this thing is pumping into him). In fact, I kind of wish this particular item had a name to highlight it's unique nature.
Of course, Celestia is rather pissed off about this, and is going to confront Amenti, which could very well result in a literal cat-fight! Of course, I doubt they'll come to blows, or even anything more than harsh words, since actually taking up arms against each other could be tantamount to war, or at least damaging their international relationship...and given that Celestia is there to help Anugypt, I suspect that she'll be aware of this. That's the thing about political power; it can protect you just as staunchly as magical or physical power can. Though she has the might to do almost anything to Amenti, doing so would be a political minefield, so Celestia is going to need to restrain herself, like it or not.
...not to mention that fact that she's hardly in a position to scold anyone. Even Amenti knows that Celestia doesn't exactly treat Silver like an equal; if she knew the more sordid details (e.g. a quasi-forceful sex change), then she'd be even more confident that Celestia has no right to talk down to her about forcing something like this on Silver.
6089950 You are right to be suspicious of it being a Dues ex. It's too convenient.
Too. Convenient...
6089950 Now that I'm not running Ponyfinder, more detailed thoughts. Silver's thought on age was not disingenuine, but it was hypocritical as Celestia and Luna both are over 100 times his age.
He didn't send her down in a ball of flames, it's true. He's a bit of a soft touch, and really has/had nothing against Amenti. He wants her to be happy, to win this battle, and go on to be a well-adjusted person. As you mentioned, he will depart, hopefully soon, and she'll find her true love who is unlikely to be a pony. He has nothing against cats. Cats and ponies are equally odd, as he thought before, and he surrendered his human sexuality card like a few stories ago.
To repeat, the bangle on his dangly bits is way too convenient as Amenti described it. 'Here, it's a thing that solves all your problems!' If she had offered it instead of slipping it on, he would have been quite wary of it, but now it's already on, and it's doing... something.
Amenti is naive, especially when it comes to this love thing. Who gave her this bangle and its romantic tale? Of course she tried to impress Silver with it, but it's not likely to be what was advertised.
Celestia is unlikely to blast Amenti to dust, or even strike her, for many reasons, but angry words may be exchanged while trying to get information. She wants to know what it is, where it came from, and how to get it off. How successful is she likely to be?
Been gone all day but I gotta ask, is this right?
Allies would suggest more than one ally would it not? While an ally's husband would suggest the husband of a single ally?
6090477 Sure, he means all of Equestria, and Celestia.
6090483 Strange way to consider Tia and Equestria, but in the end as long has his family jewels don't explode I think we'll all be happy.
He has jewels on his jewels.
6090169
Well it has been a while since he was last altered. I did kind of wonder if it was supposed to make him fertile to cats or maybe into a cat himself, but then he has been changed alot now (5 times now I think) so maybe a bad reaction/unforseen consquences?
I really wish I could draw because I now have an image of a gryphon but with alicorn rather than eagle features (I think Nightmare Moon would look pure bucking metal).
6090362 That's a good point, and one that I meant to bring up in my review, but ultimately forgot about: namely, how does Amenti know that this item does what she says it does?
That's a rather salient point, when you stop to consider it. It's not like she could ever have used it herself, and she made it sound like the last time it was used was a very long time ago. As such, it's entirely possible that she's mistaken with regard to what that item will actually do to Silver.
EDIT: It's also a bit romantic to presume that Amenti will find, let alone marry for, true love on her own. As a member of a dynastic bloodline, she's going to be expected to produce an heir. That, and the need to marry someone who will shore up her family's political power, will largely decide who her husband is. Given that, sleeping with someone purely for love (or infatuation) right now could very well be something she won't be able to otherwise do (though, to be fair, having quiet affairs aren't that rare where spouses who don't marry for love are concerned, so if she's discrete Amenti might be able to have some sort of fulfilling emotional relationship after she's married).
Anugypt isn't Equestria, so there's an argument to be made that Silver is being naive when he presumes that Amenti is just a girl with a crush; maybe she's aware that she's going to have a loveless marriage, possibly in the near future (maybe even to that very cat that she hates, the one she talked about being her opposition when Silver was in her room? But if not to him, then to someone else for whom personal compatibility will be incidental, rather than central).
6091079 I am gently against more gross body adjustments that would render his picture invalid. He's had plenty of those, as you mentioned.
My mind is far from stone though, you can try to convince me.
6091538
Haha no it's okay, it was a flight of fancy rather than a suggestion. I get seriously bored at work and my mind wonders hard and fast.
The mental image just started out wondering if part of silver would be worried about that possibility.
Which then lead to the idea of his form changing in a dream, would his dream state panic?
That lead to the idea of it supposed to change him into a cat but stopping half-way, and since it would start at his jewels his front/top would still be pony, hence kinda griffon.
Of course now I really want to find a griffonised Nightmare moon for a desktop back ground, and while writing this started wondering if they'd be called griffons or something else and would they get some kind of hand/claw set up at the front like "normal" griffons.
Yeah my mind is strange.
That thing better not have a sterilizing effect on him.
6091566 The claws up front are due to bird being upfront, and thus talons.
Being a pony/cat would probably not score fingers.
6091598
Now this is why have have to ask that question: The front leg on a griphon is a bird leg, and the bones are arranged as you'd expect in a front leg. Except birds only have rear legs, the front limbs being the wings... So while the rest of a griffon is a cat rear stuck to a bird front, the fore legs have to be re-designed separately and then stuck onto the body.
What dictates the design of this limb?
Magic, flight, immortality and hands too OP?
6091625 The least romantic answer is early people not realizing that wings = arms and just about everything above insect/spider has 4 limbs, not 6. A properly evolved griffon would be far less cool though, with a cat bottom and no arms at all, just wings.
Little late to the party here but I just realized something. That bracelet's effects so far sound like how they castrate bulls. Tie up above them so that the balls swell and eventually they kinda fall off due to not getting bloodflow. Minus the lack of bloodflow this looks so far very similar. Really hurts thinking about this.
6901417 What a load of bull...
Would that?
I thought this was going to be your typo joke for this chapter but I was wrong.
Upon his bedazzling, I just picture Raity tackling random ponies screaming that if they wouldn't be fabulous on their own volition, then she would forcibly accessorize them all!
