Dontcha just hate it when they can see how messed up your itineris system really is?
And we were so close too!
Keep going! ;)
O my the kind of chapter I love so much to think about and with a mystery at the end.
Harts Fire
6163483 Your what now?
6163493 awe heck, we used another's made up word, didn't we?
As defined in Law Abiding Pony 's A Chaotic Touch Of Harmony, an itineris system is the suite of routes, pathways, and objects/organs in a pony that defines how they perform, use, generate, and gain Magic energy with their bodies.
I honestly don't recall if you've given your version a name (though we're sure if you had it would have been mentioned no less than eight times to date), so I just blurted out what came to mind first.
Curse those pesky auras. That's why I had mine surgically removed.
6163520 Aetheric Net, is the term I've used.
6163542 oh yeah!
...
Great, now I can't hide behind ignorance, thanks!
Hmmm, do we have a lucario turned pony? Silver can't hide his Aura/Aetheric Net from those that see with aura.what will the tangled Web of life throw at silver next? Cool chapter and again with the cliffs?
Sorry for the pokemon thing been playing mystery dungeon lately.
6163666 Cliffs, I do them. It's true.
You know, I would get irritated with your cliff hanger tendencies if it weren't for one thing. I don't believe that I have seen more than possibly seven days between updates at the most.
That last line now has me wondering if there are any humans (former or otherwise) in other regions.
Looking back often

6163741 7 days? It's rare that we have a day without an update. Sometimes two updates in one day when I'm feeling cheeky.
6163894 Maybe between stories there may be a few days.
Bottom's name needs to be capitalized.
Also, that should be "the red carpet that floated in the air in defiance of gravity."
This should be "that wears the form of an Equestrian prince?"
6167060 Typos deported.
6167085 They arrive in Saddle Arabia, with a surprisingly muted start. Oh, they rolled out the red carpet and had an official welcome, but then it all just sort of petered out. I confess that I'd expected things to get promptly down to business, or at least underway to the capital city without undue delay.
It's small things like this that make me worry that the political aspect of the story is slipping. That is, the locals were clearly expecting Equestrian royalty, even if they weren't entirely sure who would be showing up, and were prepared accordingly. But those preparations have apparently amounted to a statement of welcome, and then...nothing at all? I would have thought that there'd be transportation made available to bring them to the capital, or at least accommodations made for them in the meantime. It seems weird for them to be formally recognized, and then to have Silver wandering around the city on a pet project for his servant.
I suppose it's possible that Celestia is taking care of all of that, but still...the pacing seems decidedly personal here, which is odd when Silver is still a visiting official in a foreign country. Where's the pomp and circumstance? We've seen visiting dignitaries coming to Equestria before, and it was made into an event, with parades and banners, etc. What's happening in this chapter could not be anymore low-impact.
Instead, this chapter focused more on Silver and Bottom, which wasn't uninteresting. Celestia very cogently picked up on the difference between how Silver related to Tumble before versus how he's treating Bottom now. While Silver seems to have been surprised by her insight, it's not really news to the readers; Silver has long been homophobic, which for men is the fear of losing their masculinity due to egregiously transgressing it via sexually submitting to another man. Despite some brief experimenting with being transgender, Rough Tumble is still entirely masculine, and thus Silver was worried that he (Silver) might be the one to have to "give up" his own gender role if he was in a relationship with Tumble (an understandable fear, given how passive Silver is normally, though as Silver noted here, he never actually confirmed who'd be doing what if he and Tumble were together).
With Bottom, however, that fear isn't present, because Bottom has already preemptively surrendered, not so much his masculine identity (he didn't want to become a mare, after all), but rather anything that remotely resembles his own sexual authority. As such, there's no chance of that happening to Silver, and this no threat to him...which is what Celestia noted. As such, it's not surprising that Silver is comfortable with Bottom going down on him so much; indeed, he's more concerned with repairing the long-term damage to Bottom's identity than he is with any homosexual act between them...though it's a little odd that Bottom hasn't offered to lift his tail for Silver more often (as I recall, he only did so once).
With all of that said, Silver had his own moment of insight in answering Bottom's question about why he was doing all of this for him. He was right not to phrase his answer in personal terms, which would have cemented Bottom's feelings for him, and even made sure to reference Bottom finding "his own" stallion or mare. That was smart, but only delayed the problem, since the natural response - which is going to come up, eventually - is going to be Bottom saying something along the lines of "the stallion I've found is you."
But for now, an odd twist abounds, as somepony has recognized that Silver is more than he seems...
6167719 There are reasons for all things, including their warm but not extravagant welcome. It went over well with the both of them. What would prompt them to keep it low-key? Questions!
Silver was dismissed by Celestia, who also rarely does things without reason, but he accepted it as presented. He did want to do some things, and to see this place that was foreign and exotic, but promised to be far more kind and less menacing than Catro proved to be.
should have seen
opulence
While there is some truth there - Bottom is certainly a much less intimidating personality - I think Celestia is outright wrong.
We've been shown time and again how Silver will bend over backwards to make others happy. It's pretty much his way of life. The only thing Bottom has in his life to this point is the momentary pleasure he provides to others. Even if Silver hasn't actively acknowledged this, he knows that rejecting Bottom's one source of pleasure is going to hurt Bottom now - even if it's better for him in the long run - and Silver would much rather put up with mild discomfort himself than cause pain in another, especially one that already has so much. And so far as I've seen, Silver has more or less put up with Bottom rather than embracing their dalliances. Though the comparative lack of intimidation certainly makes it easier on Silver.
I will note that Silver may not be as homophobic as it first seemed, since there's something to be said for getting used to a situation through exposure, but I've seen little to suggest that getting over it is really the main impetus for Silver's actions.
To me it seems like I would be stopped by that too. Since my OC is a complicated magical entity.
