Kinda like this "reform" program actually.
Keep going! ;)
That should be "the only source."
The "already-quickened" mares first.
This isn't an error per se, but this should be "she has secured her freedom."
I am wondering just what Luna has in mind and just what the huge amount of magic will do in quickening the mars??
When she's receptive, I want you to give everything you have to spare to her."

Luna what are you up to?
great chapter and this reform thing is more then meets the eye me thinks. Lulu is up to something but what it is is still very much a mystery. Looking forward to the next chapter.
6142084 The sexual hijinks come back down to earth in this aptly-titled chapter, as Silver reconciles what he's done, and what he wants to do, with the situation around him. After talking things over with a number of other ponies around him, he continues on with his quest to breed lunar unicorns into existence.
I'll admit, the first thing I noticed about this chapter was how incongruous it was for Luna to release Silver from his pledge to single-handedly (hoofedly?) breed the new tribe into existence. That just makes no sense to me...well, no, it does make sense, but it still feels like a very odd decision from her, especially right now. Silver just told her that he not only played the part she wanted him to - that of the mighty warrior, conquering his enemies and then filling their mares with his seed - but played it to the very hilt. This is the first time that her wishes for him are coming true, and her response is to...say "forget about the whole thing"? Huh?
Okay, it's wasn't completely out of left field. Silver had made it clear he wasn't sure if what he did was right, and Luna clearly heard that, even if she was certain that he wasn't wrong - her releasing him from this task (thirty foals notwithstanding) was obviously done because she knew it was making him uncomfortable, which was sweet of her. But it still feels so abrupt as to be a very sudden change of heart for her. Silver wasn't beating himself up over what had happened, he was just a little uncertain; moreover, Luna was doing a credible job assuaging his troubles over what had happened. So why suddenly give up on the verge of victory?
And make no mistake, she did give up. Her plan of "just thirty foals, and then we'll push this burden to the next generation" is not a good plan. Simply put, thirty foals aren't going to be anywhere near enough to make this happen, not just in the near future but in any conceivable future. To be sure, pony genetics don't work the way things "normally" would - the traits between different tribes remain distinct, even when different ponies mate; a unicorn and a pegasus that have a foal together will have either a unicorn or a pegasus foal (notwithstanding another tribe somewhere in their ancestry), rather than having any blending of each tribes' traits going on.
My presumption, in that case, is that a foal will have a % chance of being of a given tribe equal to how prevalent that tribe is in each of its parents' ancestries. In other words, a foal born to a unicorn and a pegasus will have a 50% chance of being born a unicorn, or a 50% chance of being born a pegasus. Now, if it's pegasus parent itself has an earth pony grandparent, then there's actually a 12.5% chance that the foal will be an earth pony itself (and thus a 37.5% chance it will be a pegasus, and a 50% chance it'll be a unicorn...presuming the unicorn has a "pure" bloodline). I don't know if it actually works that way, but that's the best explanation I can come up with.
Given that, the blood magic that Luna used on Silver to make him into a lunar unicorn was likely notable because it "reset" his pony genetics to be 100% lunar unicorn, so that he'd always have a flat 50% chance of making lunar unicorn foals (though this entire idea runs counter to the idea that he could breed any other kinds of lunar ponies). That means that even if they aren't born as lunar unicorns, their own foals will have a 25% chance of being born that way. Those odds will only degrade further with each successive generation.
All of this is my long-winded way of saying that Luna's modified plan, to have only thirty foals from Silver's loins until the next generation, is a poor one. No matter how you slice the genetics, it's simply not going to be enough to make any sort of noticeable impact against the overall population. Even if she did say that this would make things take "a little longer," that acknowledgment drastically understates the problem. While we don't know the total population of Equestria, I can guarantee you that at this rate, it would be millenia before lunar unicorns would exist in notable numbers...if they ever would at all!
Also, this seems like it removed the impetus for more sexy hijinks. I know that Silver still needs to breed roughly two dozen more foals into existence, but still...it's no longer an open-ended ride, and that feels like a shame. That's particularly true with Silver's current experiment of "filling her up with more than her body demanded" when it comes to breeding. Presuming that has any effect at all, I can only imagine it would result in multiple births to some degree, which means that he'd end up with the requisite thirty even sooner. I acknowledge that Silver was never much of a stud up until now, but it's a shame - and an ironic one at that - that he'd be essentially freed from this duty just as he's getting good at it.
Moving on, it was nice to see Shei weigh in on things. Her presence was a sober reminder of their recent loss, and I liked how she was handled here. She's trying to move on, and be involved in what's happening now, but it still hurts, and it probably will for some time. This was exactly the right way to acknowledge that without letting it overtake the tone of the story. Kudos there.
Insofar as Celestia goes...I understand the nature of her concern, but for reasons mentioned before, I disagree. Silver's pheromones have never been shown to be anywhere near as potent as the consciousness-destroying ones that Celestia created; in fact, hers were specifically stated to be enhanced with magic. Certainly, Silver's are as well due to that bangle that he's wearing, but those are enhancing his natural abilities (that is, they're simply increasing his sexual potency of his own accord) rather than magically empowering his scent in-and-of itself. In other words, I don't think that he's necessarily bordering on doing the same thing that she did. It's nice that he's restraining himself, but I think that both he and Celestia are more concerned than is necessary.
Still, it was a nice gesture on Silver's part to let those mares that have significant others reunite with them. I admit, the idea that he's knocking up mares that might already be in relationships hadn't occurred to me, but at least their stallions aren't jealous or upset that their women lifted their tail for another stallion, and are bearing his child. While I'd normally say that that was unbelievably egalitarian of them, this does fall in line with pony values as we've typically seen them (even if this isn't Equestria proper).
Ah well, even if this is his last hurrah as a sexually-conquering warrior, hopefully Silver will end up breeding the lot of them before they reach Saddle Arabia.
6143740 Luna is playing the psychological game. As always. She has Silver in a good place, where he's learning to just enjoy his role, and if he's told he'll be free of it, perhaps he'll think about that while he's going about the business. The best kind of worker is the kind that wants to be there, and maybe he will want to be there by the time he's done with these pirate mares, or in Saddle Arabia, since none of them will pop with foals before he gets back to Equestria.
Is there risk? Surely, but the potential reward is great, with enhanced relations between herself and Silver for being the generous one, and increased dedication from Silver if he is the one that decides he wants to do it.
Worst case scenario, Silver takes his out when the 30th foal is born, which likely means more than 30 were sired, and they have a good relationship on a personal level, and when she asks him to help her support the next generation, he'll do so willingly, as her proud husband.
