Very relatable chapter. We look back and see the monster we were running from wa always ourselves. How do you feel about that? How SHOULD you feel? Do you regret your past? Do you miss the freedom (because if we're all honest with ourselves, the monster years were fun times)? Friends and family are always quick to say you were naver THAT bad, but if you saw it from the outside would you agree? Deep thoughts man. Keep it up. I'm not even gonna be a smartass this time.
Silver meandered "through" the tower.
Using her wings to cradle and secure "her" as she trotted slowly back...
Replace "Ya" with "Yer."
There are two spaces between "that" and "bad."
There should be an ellipsis between "or" and the question mark, to indicate that this is a leading question.
Okay, I'm calling shenanigans on Silver's speech to Rainbow at the end of this chapter. What's going on with her right now is not her simply having grown/changed as a person. This is her being unable to reconnect with an intrinsic part of who she was, and still should be. It's entirely possible for people to become less sexually active as part of the ever-present process of changing and reacting to the circumstances of living life, but the sudden and complete absence of sexual desire, especially as a consequence of a major traumatic event (and if we can't call forcible resurrection, done while overriding the natural flow of the universe, "traumatic," then I'm not sure what could be called that) is not normal, healthy development.
Silver is being entirely disingenuous here, and I'm more and more suspicious that she lacks the ability to even realize that. What's happening with her right now isn't the same as finding out that you don't like your old hobbies and pastimes anymore. It's more like there's a part of her that simply didn't make it back from the afterlife. Moreover, I'm concerned about the thematic implications of her lack of a sex drive - sex is reproduction, and reproduction could very well be called two souls merging to create another soul...is Silver's lack of procreative desire some indication that part of her soul is missing?
At this point, she needs to be taken to someone with esoteric knowledge. Zecora would be the ideal person to consult, but she's currently been all but banished from the castle (if not Ponyville), and Night Watch is currently in no condition to proffer the much-needed apology. My next guess would be Nefertari...given that Silver is completely lacking in warrior spirit right now (and indeed, seems to be lacking anything that could be called "passion," which the Anubians seem to prize highly), it's a sure bet that the Anubian shaman will not be pleased with this development.
As it is, fixing this problem is going to be an issue for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that Silver seems to have come to the conclusion that it's not a problem in the first place, and so will likely resist action being taken (though I imagine if somepony she loves pleads with her to fix this, she might go along with it). This is almost like a reverse-addiction ("no, really, I can start doing it again whenever I want, I just don't want to").
6534167 Silver is working with what Silver knows. She wasn't 'there' for the bending of the universe in half. She wasn't there, then she was there. She was told she was gone, then was returned. She feels whole, and is ready to live. She used to do things that feels confusing to her current self. She struggles to piece these parts together into something sensible while being a good person.
How well does she succeed? Up to debate!
Frankly its sad that Silver's become such a shell of his former self.
6753390 There's one thing that doesn't change in this fic. Something'll change.
Silly theorizing: Rainbow Power, being innately tied to Hasbro's for-children toy marketing scheme, cannot tolerate the presence of sexuality.
Not while editors exist.
The Ship of Theseus and the inability to step in the same river twice are nice and all, but hardly apply here. A better philosophical approach dictates that they created a philosophical zombie, or would have had they not had an actual shred of consciousness to draw from. Even so, that bit was from his colthood, and has no memory of the internal experience of stallion lust. And really, the internal-experience issue could be gotten 'round with clever application of Lunar fangmagic, but would have had to have happened premortem.
Replacing puzzle pieces by photocopying the box isn't going to give you a good copy. of course, the Matryoshka narrative problem rears its head, too.
I'm going to say that Silver's attitude is a product of the group that cast the spell. Sure, he was a hornball, but during the casting everyone was focused on how nice he was, and nobody thought about his sexual side, so it was simply left out of the pony they brought back. If Fast had been there...
Which makes me think that the solution is to find Fast fast. The cure is clearly the raunchiest roll in the hay to date in this story!
7789971 Would that be a cure, or rape?
Why you rob silver of all of his sexuality now his mates will feel neglected also I'm pretty sure that they had a stallion less herd earlier in the story also why couldn't there be a stallion less herd filly foolers are just hung out to dry
7963305 Things will get worse, and better. Life continues.
So is Silver going for the complete set of sexualities?
Straight, bi, gay, pan, and asexual . . . I probably missed a few.
Does him being resurrected mean that he is a reverse-necrophilliac?
