this is a vary caring chapter bonds are re forged and strengthened and fast has a plan to help Silver but I think in this case fast needs to go super slow I am thinking around 2 chapters slow.
Harts Fire
Is it still Eve? I thought the last chapter had them waking up on the morning of the actual Hearth's Warming.
She was "shielding" Fast from the cold.
I can understand the use of the gender-neutral "they" here, but it still seems a bit odd.
There are two spaces between "but" and "I've."
6580052 Typos fixed! This is the evening of the day of the last chapter.
6580153 What a lovely chapter! This is the sort of heart-to-heart I expected to see in the wake of Fast's reappearance, and I think that the story, and their characters, are stronger for it. Seeing how the characters react to changes, and each other, helps to make them feel more fully fleshed-out.
With regards to Fast, her reason for doing what she did was simple, but that simplicity was an asset in terms of explaining her mindset. Simply put, being part of an "official" herd - that is, being married and part of a real family - gave her back her sense of self-respect, something she lost when she earned the reputation of being a slut. That was entirely believable for her; even leaving aside that Canterlot is the sort of snooty place where that kind of gossip would flourish, Fast is exactly the sort of person who would fall into that trap. More than anypony else in the herd (with the exception of Silver) Fast has self-esteem issues (springing from her disability). Trying to get away from that by being "loving" with everyone she meets ended up only making the problem worse, since no one respects a slut, so it's easy to understand why she'd freak out when Silver died...she just lost her beloved, and her sense of self-respect all at once. It's easy to see why she'd try to run away from that.
I'm a bit bemused that Night has decided to punish her, particularly since hearing that word quite clearly got Fast's motor running. Most of the reason that it's funny though is that the issue of "the necessity of punishment to be forgiven" is based around the idea that the transgressor will feel a powerful sense of guilt for what they've done, and require punishment to achieve catharsis. Fast, while she does feel bad for what she did, is clearly not tormented by her own actions. It's enough for her to be forgiven, since she's mercurial enough that she doesn't dwell on the past...something that makes sense, given that she doesn't seem to gain anything from doing so (I'd imagine that she regards her past, prior to meeting her loved ones, as being mostly painful, and as something to escape from rather than dwell on).
What really made this chapter, though, was how the conversation suddenly turned around to Night's own feelings of inadequacy. That really struck a chord with me, because that sort of back-and-forth - where the conversation suddenly inverts, and the person being examined starts to examine the other - is very realistic for how such intimate conversations tend to go between people who love each other. It's a way of saying "I feel like I'm doing all of the sharing; I want you to open yourself up to me too," which makes things less one-sided, and thus less frightening. Fast was sharing her own fears, and so it follows naturally that Night would start to do so as well.
Making a contribution has always been Night's fear, whether it's due to her not being able to work due to her pregnancy or Ponyville being too podunk a town for her to do anything. Now that she has something that she feels gives her intrinsic worth, rather than having to earn recognition, I wonder if those problems will start to fade away for her. I do still think that she'll want to do something - that level of work ethic doesn't vanish overnight - but it won't be due to underlying fear of not being valued if she can't.
As for Fast's plan to try and sex Silver up good enough to get her libido back...well, I think that will go about as well as Cadance's therapy sessions. Scratch that, even less well; at least therapy seems to be helping Silver come to terms with her current state - Fast's plan really offers nothing to be gained. I also still remain convinced that only magic will fix Silver's problem, so it really doesn't matter how proficient Fast is. Perhaps a more useful angle would be to try and see just how close she can bring Silver to sexual pleasure now? That is, would she still appreciate the (quasi-erotic) feeling of a massage, for example? (Do Lotus and Aloe offer "happy endings" I wonder?)
Ah well, let's see how it all goes after Hearth's Warming ends.
6580482 It would be very un-Fast-Like for her not to try a fix, especially one involving canoodling with her spouse. She will do whatever she has planned with extreme passion and drive, we can be sure of that.
Night's really enjoying her outfit, even if it came at such an awful price. Can it even be removed? There was a theory that it could be, once all the pieces were together, but she hasn't wanted to remove it since putting it on, so that theory remains entirely untested. She likes that power. Who would want to give it up?
Poor Silver, you have no idea what's coming for you. Also, you weren't even in this chapter! Clearly a typo of some sort.
Glad you liked it!

High is my bet. Enough to make you think he was touched by all the gods and goddesses of luck and fortune in a Vegas cassino... He and everyone around him seems dead set on giving him a harem ending, He has unintentionally set himself on probably the smoothest possible path to male alicorn-dom short of wishing for it. He is managing to keep his lost foal. Making friends with all/most of the enemies/opponents. Being essentially given free reign by his herd to impregnate any single mare that won't say no or even probably giving couples a foal or two if they ask. Speaking of his herd he technically has two and one of them has all the princesses in it... And to top it off he probably has the most broken special skill imaginable for a cutie mark. So yes. I think it is a fair assessment to say he has really high luck.
6583947 I like how you filtered every bad thing that ever happened to him. :D
She'll suffer one disharmony per caster level, and again each round after she breaks it, per Humanway.
6579880 I know I'm weeks behind (computer crash didn't help) but I agree about Fast, can't help wondering about the armour though, maybe it retains the drive Silver is missing?
Well, that answers part of my question.
I'm getting more and more curious where Starlight disappeared. I mean if she went on her time travel revenge and created parallel timeline then she effectively committed suicide in this one because she can't come back, but still!
