Welcome one and all to Cowwarr, a sleepy little town in south-eastern Australia. Strange things have started happening, but it's all okay, the new school teacher just arrived and soon the new doctor will be getting here. Just don't mind how folks look around here, something odd happened. Something magical.

This story has a lot of backstory and world-building behind it, as well as a huge plot ahead of it. Sit down, strap in, and relax with a beer (or apple juice for the foals), this will be a long ride.

Jonathan Lockhart feels closer to his fellow fans than his friends and family. He knows magic isn't real, and there's no way he can journey into that fictional world, though that doesn't stop him from wishing. But then, much to his surprise, he falls through a portal. Thunder Strike. Ask anypony who's ever met him and they would probably describe him as proud member of Royal Guard; specifically a Lieutenant of the Palace Division. Always doing his very best to maintain the safety and security of the staff and visitors alike, and never hesitating to do what's needed of him.

Ask those that know him and they might tell you how he's a chronic workaholic who's maintaining unhealthy, unreasonable standards for his own conduct and performance leading him to slowly but surely working himself to death, and who desperately needs a vacation before it's too late.

Like it or not, he's going to learn the hard way that nopony, no matter how dedicated they may be, can possibly burn the candle at both ends indefinitely. And perhaps something else along the way.

In the small town of Rainbow Falls, amid the constant hustle and bustle of the trade exchanges and Equestria games tryouts, a little alchemy shop goes relatively unnoticed by tourists.
The townsponies know better, though. The shop's proprietor has magical power to rival the best in history, and has on more than one occasion gone off to hunt monsters alone for ingredients.
It's a pity that in the crazy world of Equestria, all he wants to do is run his shop.

Cromach is a griffon soldier who, as many young ones do, suffers from being too smart for his own good. He coasts through life until the point when he breaks one of the fundamental rules of Griffon Imperial Legion and gets punished for it. Unfortunately for him, the punishment for said transgression is death. His only choice now is whether his is going to be slow and torturous or quick and painless.

Too dark? Well, it's not that bad. According to books and movies it is possible to survive in the desert and return to normal life, right?

Too bad none of that matters because this story isn't his.
