James Alvera, age 18, former Brony, and currently living alone on the second floor of an apartment complex. His life started smoothly when his parents enrolled him in private elementary school; with good grades and lots of friends. Along the road were a few road bumps, but James always climbed back up. Well, all of that changed just as soon as he graduated high school. After the big ceremony and family celebration, he was unfortunate to hear the news from his parents at the dinner table. They would have to leave him for their workplace.

Saddened and dejected, he struggles to find a job and sits all alone in his apartment; remembering he has until summer vacation to find a job for his college fees. But that all changed when a strange letter offering a quick salary arrived at night.

When Twilight and Rainbow Dash are invited on an expedition with Daring Doo, the two are beyond overjoyed. A tomb has been discovered, it's definitive features beyond the comprehension of Ponykind. Who knows what adventure will lay behind it's doors. Fame? Fortune? Death?

Secrets will be uncovered. Revelations will be made. But most of all, the trio will realize that some things... are better left buried.

Will be three chapters in total.

Carter Johnson: a man lost to the darkness that consumed him. He had grown hatred towards the man he became. He never wanted this life, but somehow it seemed to him like no matter where he went, his dark past would follow. And now he is at his breaking point. His past haunts him every day, making him feel like nothing in this world can help change him to become the man he wants to be. Perhaps he is right. Maybe there isn't anything... in this world.

With one chance left for redemption, Carter is sent to another world unseen by humans and tasked with the goal of finding those who can help him restore his humanity and restore him back to the man he once was: a man who could love and be a friend to others. But amongst this simple task is an evil more powerful than anything anyone could imagine. For a certain princess and her friends in their world, this will prove to be their most difficult task yet. To Carter, it's his life on the line; to everyone else, it's theirs. Everything that would follow would depend on their choices.

Notice: This takes place one year after the events of Season 9, between "The Ending of The End - Part 2" and "The Last Problem," sometime after Twilight's coronation and becoming the new leader of Equestria, along with the Royal Sisters' retirement. None of the "Equestria Girls" events took place, meaning Sunset Shimmer does not exist and that no one from Equestria has seen a human.

This is meant to act as a continuation of sorts following the end of the MLP Series, building upon where the story left off and telling more about what happened after the coronation. However, there is a more adult rating, as the purpose is to convey dark themes with the otherwise light-hearted world of Equestria, bringing the story into a whole new direction never seen before in the actual series.

Warning: This story has parts with moderate gore, profanity, as well as death/suicide. If you are easily turned away from such content, reader's discretion is advised.

This is the retelling of the original UTF. The changes needed to move story where it was originally meant to go and clean up all the plot holes that the original just couldn't fill in required an entire rewrite, meaning there will be lots of additions, removals, and major changes to the story in comparison to the past edition. With that said, this is now the true headcanon of what happened in the first UTF.

The Kingdom of Equestria is world-renowned for its teachings of peace, harmony, and friendship. Whole schools were built on these principles, to spread the message to all races in every corner of the globe. Yet, how could Equestria hope to teach peace and friendship to a species that had once been driven to the edge of extinction by pony hooves?

The Terran Nation has spent the last three millennia living in fear of the ponies and of all other races. Paranoid and alone, their reality is a never-ending cold war. One that exists only in their own minds as the rest of the world had almost forgotten them. 

After a sudden and quick war with the cat-like Abyssians, the Terrans have grown bold and decided that the time to re-establish themselves on the world stage has arrived. To determine if Equestria is still a threat to them, they've sent one of their best mages to integrate into pony society. To talk, to spy, and to report back on possible weaknesses in Equestria's defenses.

Whether through peace or war, the Terrans vow to never allow pony hooves to tread on them again.

Equestria Girls and the IDW comics are not canon.

For this story, I have drawn a lot of inspiration from many different genres and sources such as sci-fi, fantasy, anime, books, etc. However, this is an original story and not a crossover.

Cover image is from the Undertale AU "Underplayer." It is a temporary image, but I found it quite fitting for the main protagonist if a little misleading.

Set between "The Ending of the End" and the flashback in "The Last Problem" The Main 6 are called before the princesses to discover the mystery of the world's first friendship, by solving the world's first friendship problem. In the distant past, the ancient ponies were defended from the dangers of the untamed world by the humans: the mightiest warriors the world ever saw and users of powerful elemental magics. However, something happened between them that drove the humans underground to the very heart of the world.

Down in the cavern our little ponies find a vast but treacherous city, and must work to repair the bonds broken by time through facing dangers untold. However, several unsavory parties seem to want them for their own agendas.
