//------------------------------// // Chapter 14: Royal Birthday // Story: A New Life // by arc5162 //------------------------------// July 3, 3991 BBB(Before the Battle of the Bell) About 8 days after volunteering to tell the young children a story, I had reached a very special day. Today was my birthday, and Maple said she had a special surprise planned. “No peeking honey”, said Maple, leading me away, “that includes your cameras.” “Ok, I’m turn them off”, I said, turning the cameras off and covering my eyes. She then proceeded to lead me to another location, making sure I didn’t bump into anything while doing so. After a minute or 2 or walking, she stopped me and walked ahead. “Ok, open your eyes.” As I opened my eyes, what I saw made my jaw drop. “Surprise!! Happy Birthday King Lugh!!”, everyone shouted once I uncovered my eyes. To say I was surprised was putting it mildly, I was not expecting a birthday surprise. Everyone had set up a big banner saying “Happy Birthday Lugh”, and all the bakers had come together to make a huge cake. “I don’t know what to say”, I managed to squeeze out after struggling to find the words. “You don’t have to say anything”, said Maple, “after knowing you for 19 years, you never once asked for a birthday celebration. So I thought we would organize one for you this year.” “She helped organize the whole thing”, said one of the Druids, “although, she wouldn’t tell us how old you were.” “Well, I’m 500,217 years old.” After saying that, everyone gasped. They then proceeded to throw rapid fire questions at me, ranging from “how are you so old” to “how do you still look so young”. “I can answer all of your questions, the reason I’m so old and still look young is because I am Immortal.” “But what about Queen Maple?” “Well, the day before I taught you all magic 8 years ago, I gifted my wife with immortality just like it was gifted to me. Me and Maple will be your Immortal King and Queen.” Once I finished explaining this, they started cheering, excited that their rulers would be with the village forever. “Well, let’s stop standing around and get this celebration started.” So, me and the rest of the village proceeded to celebrate my birthday. I soon found out the Maple had gotten everyone to make my birthday an official kingdom celebration, so this would be a yearly event just like the 8 traditional festivals. Everyone had also gone out of their way to make me gifts, ranging from royal regalia to banners to even a portrait of me and Maple. Yes, this birthday was one to remember, even thought I can’t technically eat. It was the first time I had celebrated my birthday since I turned 100. I had forgotten how fun it was.
