Chapter 31: Prophecy

October 31, 1000 BBB (Before the Battle of the Bell)

Today was a special day, for today is the festival of Samhain. A time of celebration and remembering those whos spirits have crossed into the otherworld. Every year on the festivals of Samhain and Bealtaine, I meditate to focus on the future. Usually, I'm able to see brief flashes of the future. This time however, I get a whole lot more.

"Looks like everything is set up Maple."

"Good, I'll go help the citizens prepare the ritual for tonight. I'll be back in a few hours."

"Ok, have fun."

With that, she left to go help set up the ritual.

After she left, I began to meditate to focus on the ritual I was performing.

"A Spiorad na Saoghal Eile, éist liom agus taispeáin dom cad atá le teacht." I said, calling out to the otherworld.

As I said this, my antlers began to glow with a beautiful golden light, shining with the intensity of 1000 stars. I began to levitate inside my room, magical energy radiating out as I began to focus that energy into a very powerful spell. A spell powerful enough to see into the future.

After about a minute of gathering energy, my eyes shot open with the same golden light, and I began to see what is to come.

However, this time was different somehow.

I began staring off into the distance, the branches of time appearing before me, I could see its infinite complexities and possibilities. As I began to look at the branch I knew has guaranteed to lead to what I saw in the other times I performed this spell, I could suddenly sense much more clarity in it this time. The other times I looked to the future, I could only ever see brief flashes of the future. This time though, I felt like I could get a proper glimpse, so I reached out to grab hold of it so I could see what lies ahead.

As I grabbed it and held it in my hoof, I could feel the familiar feeling of the timeline's energy pouring into me. I then focused that energy to try to get a glimpse into the future, but as I did, what I got was way more than just a glimpse.

As the future began to show itself, I started to see a field. It was next to a small town which I could see was heavily damaged. I looked over from the town into the field, and I could see the six ponies that I had seen only in brief flashes.

I knew they were very important in the future, for they were destined to redeem many villains, including Discord and Luna, and keep the peace in Equestria. Then, I noticed that they all had frightened looks on their faces. I turned my head to see what they were looking at, and what I saw surprised me.

I was looking at myself.

I was there in front of them, attacking Grogar with a magic beam, who was trying to attack the six ponies with his own magic beam. I was protecting them from his attack. We were both at a standstill, both beams meeting in the middle, neither one going forwards or backwards.

Then, as quickly as I had started, The vision vanished.

I gasped as I was pulled back into the waking world, having seen more of the future then I though I ever would. I took a moment to recover, but then Maple came in with a very worried look on her face.

"What happened? Everyone could see that light from miles away."

"I saw the future. I saw Grogar's return."

"You did?"

"Yes, and I saw myself fighting him."

"Really? What does this mean?"

"It means that I need to make preparations. I need to accelerate my research into this crystal's capabilities, I need to learn to master it's full power."

"Do you think you can master it in time?"

"I don't have a choice, I need to stop Grogar when he comes back, just as I need to stop the humans."

"How are the humans by the way?"

After doing a quick check, I responded.

"They've spread out to colonize the entire centauri star system, their numbers are up to levels I haven't seen since before the war. From what I can tell with the brief scan I did, they are close to discovering light speed travel, but the only thing holding them back is finding a suitable power source."

"They are really advanced though, shouldn't they have found one by now?"

"Normally yes, but in this case fusion energy just isn't enough to hold that speed for 4 years straight. They are going to need something more powerful than even fusion."

"Let's hope it takes them a while."

"Agreed, the last thing we need is to deal with Grogar and humans at the same time."

I sigh before finishing, "I just hope that I can deal with the humans when they eventually come back."
