A newly transformed Rainbow Dash continues her flight east.

Twilight had never really seen fog before. The weather team in Ponyville had always checked the skies and made sure nothing disastrous ever happened. But one day, Twilight wakes up to discover that a omnious fog has enveloped Ponyville, obscuring everything. Worried, she becomes determined to find out the cause behind it.

But what she will discover will be nothing like she imagined...

I didn't have much to live for. Actually, living was my biggest problem. I didn't see much of a point to it. That is, until a certain surprise from the past opens itself up in the present.

Each night I’m trapped in the dark, immobilized. I hear whispers as they operate on me: they say I shouldn’t be alive. Twilight refuses to tell me about the operation. Sometimes she can’t look me in the eye. What did they do to me?

Nothing used to scare me: I kicked a dragon in the nose, defeated gods of chaos and hatred, and control the weather. Now I feel broken. My memories have shattered, I feel wrong, and I’m afraid to tell anypony how scared I am.

I can’t even do the rainboom anymore. Who am I? I’m no longer the best flyer in Equestria, yet everypony assures me I am. Why won’t they tell me the truth?

Twilight Sparkle is lonely. She didn’t realise it for the longest time, but when she met her friends, she began to understand she was lacking something in her life. Over time, she further understood that friendship was not all there was to knowing other ponies. And every year, a particular day comes around and reminds her of her romantic situation.

Even now that she's a princess, Hearts and Hooves day manages to remind Twilight that, once again, she is without a very special somepony. But, unbeknownst to her and those that will be involved, the end of this Hearts and Hooves day will herald the start of something wonderful for the new alicorn. Something strange and altogether new.

In fact, one could go so far as to say it will be quite curious.

Rainbow Dash gets curious of one of Twilight's potion experiments and ends up having her mind switched with a dog's. Curiosity may kill the cat, but there's no telling what it'll do to Rainbow Dash.

The perfect place for Rainbow to practice her stunts is obviously wherever the conditions are right, and the fact that she set up those ideal conditions directly over the cottage? That lets a friend serve as an appreciative audience. The fact that Fluttershy's trying to conduct repairs on part of the sod roof shouldn't mean anything more than 'It's keeping her from spotting the damage to the grounds which came from the last attempt'.

Because sometimes practice goes wrong. This time, the fallout from that last failed spiral left Rainbow partially embedded in the sod, and there's all sorts of reasons why she can't just get herself out. But it won't be a problem for long -- not once her friends get involved. You'd think that the diversity of talents, intellects, and magic represented by the Bearers could solve this in an instant!

You'd really like to think that.
