Derry Wilhall; a man having received a large inheritance from his grandfather, decides to live like he's always dreamed: alone and separated from society. A little excursion through the woods for some sight seeing throws him into the throngs of another world. "He" ends up in a body that is not his and will see things from another perspective.

I was hardly prepared for this...

Even though I am an avid reader of the "human finds himself into the equine society" kind of genre, most of those stories which happened to have an average human as the main character were simply.. absurd, biased against humanity or simply illogical right off the bat, mostly picturing ludicrous approaches and results, ranging from resorting to outright socipathy for no apparent reason to instantaneous mutual affinity between two alien beings who had never met before, again, for no actual reason.

As a result, those had little to none useful advices... nothing that can aid me now on dealing with the real thing, just dumb, over-the-top, childishly written perspectives... like a supersoldier's violence-ridden one-track mind, a fanboy's squeamish and annoyingly upbeat vision, a lonely human' sugarcoated dream of making out with equines and so on...

I figure I have no choice but to carry on my own particular approach by avoiding such distorted perspectives... we'll see the results soon enough.

A human enters Equestria. And now he will stop at something to get back home. which is good because he has no Idea what he is doing. He even admits it.

Deep in the Everfree Forest, a brilliant golden light is shining through the darkness of the beautiful night and in its warm glow lay a being not from this world. After a moment the light dissipated and this being began to move. Not knowing what happened, he lifts up his head from the cold earth below and opens his eyes and thoughts of panic begin to rush into his head...

This is my very first fanfic and in all honesty have close to no idea what I'm doing...this should be fun...

After a rather painful wake up, Jackson Hail finds himself in a rather scaly skin. Just what is he? How did this happen? Where is he? What's with the quivering yellow horse thingy? You already know this answers, but let's come along with Jack as he finds out.

(Your standard Human in Equestria story, with some not so standard elements I hope. I came up with the idea after I saw that almost nobody thought of this. Please note that this is my first fan fiction, so, you know, the usual dribble. Also note that I have no idea as to what categories this falls into quite yet, so I'll be modifying as I go along. Elliot Drake, an ordinary young man, wakes up in a strange forest and appears to be suffering from retrograde amnesia. He soon discovers that this forest is a long way from Earth and located in a land known as Equestria. While trying to regain his memories he does his best to cope with the world the he was thrust into. Elliot will make new friends and enemies all during his quest to remember and to find a way home.
