Everyone knows what horrors lie behind floor two of the Rainbow Factory, but has anyone ever payed attention to the other factories? Rainbows aren't the only thing made in Cloudsdale. Recent occurences in the Thunderstorm Cloud Factory have caused it's bankruptcy, and it's up to one pony to restore the factory to it's former glory. But he has other plans for the new factory, and his ideas aren't any better than the Rainbow Factory's.

I do not intend to copy or steal Aurora Dawn or anyone else's work and have written this as an unique fanfiction to expand upon the Rainbow Factory theme.
That being said, this story is dark, and when I say dark, I mean it. It contains blood, violence, swearing, and potentially disturbing content. I've rated it as teen since it isn't immensely violent or bloody, but it does contain swearing. (If you think that I should rerate it to mature please let me know.)

And with that my story begins.

Nearly two thousand years before the founding of Equestria, the mortal races of the ancient kingdoms rose up against the Alicorn Imperium that had ruled over them, treating them as little more than slaves for millennia. One by one the alicorns of the Imperium were hunted down. Most were executed for their crimes against those they considered 'lesser' ponies. But a few of the most powerful were imprisoned for all time. They should have killed them all.

After nearly three thousand years imprisoned, one of them has broken the bonds of her prison. Now she seeks to reestablish the dominance of the alicorn race, and overthrow the disgraceful excuses for alicorns that are currently in power.

It's been five years since the Rainbow Factory was shut down by Princess Celestia, and what information was released to the public, was heavily censored. The factory had been abandoned and, with specific instructions from Princess Celestia, still loomed over Cloudsdale. You are currently undergoing your first year in flight school. Your father had worked at the weather factory before it shut down but after it was condemned, you never heard from him again.
Today at school, your history class discussed the factory in as much detail as was permitted. However, today's lesson gave your classmates an idea.

They had been patient. From a distance or in a crowd or at her window when she slept at night, they watched. The target had been selected, her fears uncovered, and, now, was the time to split her from the pack. In the Forest, the wolves waited.

Twilight Sparkle learns that the trust and goodwill of the Princess isn't always a good thing as she's given the trust of an important assignment. When that assignment turns out to be long-term, how will she handle taking care of a filly of her own? How will she handle this strange new filly, who proves to be much more than she appears. As a matter of fact, she seems to be from an entirely separate universe.

Meanwhile, Second Chance has kept only enough of her memories to know that she isn't what she should be. The wonderful world of Equestria has its own dangers, and she seems to have a knack for attracting trouble. The more of her memories return, the more she wishes she could just forget. But you can't forget when all of Equestria depends on you remembering.

Only one thing's for sure: The longer Twilight keeps this strange filly in her care, the stranger her own life will become, and things she thought she knew about Equestria will unravel before her eyes. Strange ancient devices, an eccentric mint unicorn and her so-called "Equestrian Precursor Society" are only the beginning for Twilight Sparkle as she begins a journey of her own. She too may wish she could simply forget. Unfortunately, it's too late for either of them.

THIS IS A SIMILAR BUT DIFFERENT UNIVERSE. I wrote this, starting during late Season 2, so I had to make judgment calls based on the information I had. As such, certain episodes thereafter do not match up, or fit in different places. Consequently, it is a very similar alternate universe. Many events happen in both this and the show timeline, but do not always match. I tried to stay consistent when possible, but certain things were lost to disagreements in interpretation. I like how I wrote my story and will not force it to match what came after I started writing. I've also decided to consider this fluidly finished. I still seem to make updates, but I no longer guarantee them.
