It had been one year since Twilight Sparkle vanished in the battle against the evil unicorn Xander, and her friends were still trying to overcome the grief of losing her. On the anniversary of her presumed death, her friends gather at her memorial. What was suppose to be a day of remembrance was shattered by a strange metal object that landed right beside them. Their anger quickly turns to shock as a familiar unicorn emerges... and boy does she have a story to tell.

Ever since the Twilight Time incident, Twilight has wondered why the foals in Ponyville would be hesitant to approach her without an introduction, and learning that she is apparently the most popular princess from Sassy Saddles - despite not having seen evidence of it herself - only served to reinforce her concern that ponies were avoiding her due to her status. Her suspicions are confirmed when she attends a royal function and notices guests getting nervous as she draws near.

Twilight decides this needs to be addressed. Wacky hijinks ensue.

The Wandering Physicist is a mysterious traveller who just arrived in Ponyville. After establishing himself in the video game shop, he begins his encounters with the denizens of Ponyville. This sets off many ongoing adventures with his new friends. With a constant stream of visitors from around Equestria, friendship, family, twists and turns and legions of nerds are on the horizon.

Setting: Approximately a year after the end of the series.

To new readers: These were written as an ongoing serial. The individual story does not necessarily carry chapter to chapter, but the continuing story and events carry over. Feel free to skip around the chapters without losing too much continuity. If you do not wish to start at the beginning, Crossroads is a good starting location as it lays down the groundwork most of what follow.

Five years ago, Nightmare Moon returned to Equestria and took it by storm. She imprisoned her sister in the moon, and Equestria fell into an Age of Darkness. She ruled with an iron hoof; her word became law. The Mare in the Moon became a grim reminder of what happened to those who opposed the new tyrant, and nopony dared oppose.

Except for one aspiring unicorn.

Twilight Sparkle, a mare shackled by the failures of her past, prowls the ruins of the old capital Canterlot, praying for a spell that can right what has been so horribly wronged. Buried beneath the rubble of the Royal Library, she finds a tome that might be the answer to her prayers.

A "Warrior of Sunlight"; surely he will be able to overthrow the wicked tyrant and restore Celestia to her rightful throne. Twilight can almost see the sun returning over the horizon. She just didn't expect this warrior to be so... jolly.

Set in Starlight's "alternate future" where Nightmare Moon reigns.
