Equestria, the vast land ruled by ponies. But that was not always the case. Long before the rule of the two princesses, the land that would earn the name Equestria was ruled by dragons, and the leader of them all was the Alpha. This is the Tale of the Second Alpha, and how he became friends with the Mane Six. And his fight to defend his home against a very personal threat.

Ebonfallow is a meek changeling who, for reasons beyond her control, was born with the inability to change form. Blackfish is an orca of adventurous qualities both admirable and vexatious, and pines for something—or someone—interesting enough to satisfy an unknown thirst that plagues him so.

When the former leaves her hive for a coastal pony community in disgrace and the latter decided to explore the very same location she dwells by virtue of his unquenchable curiosity, their paths soon cross upon one calm, warm summer day.

And, as both soon find out, their fates may be destined to intersect in more ways than simply a single, freak encounter...

Getting hit by a truck usually hurt's when you're awake during it. Not for me though; I got sent somewhere else by it. A month has passed since Tirek's defeat for Twilight and the Elements of Harmony, but one call changes everything. An invitation made by Lord of the Underworld, king over Tartarus (and last of the Balrogs). Will he be a friend or an enemy of Equestria?

(Displaced without the multiverse stuff, the character does not faithfully represent the LOTR lore, only the MLP chronology will be maintained)

From the day of her birth, an unknown guardian has watch over Twilight Sparkle. He has secretly protected her, assisted her, and been there for almost every significant event in her life, watching from the shadows as she grew into the wonderful and loved Princess of Friendship.

And yet, trouble is brewing, and with Twilight's life is now in danger, her unknown guardian must come out of the shadows and do all that he can to protect her, even if it breaks both their hearts in the process.

But just who is this pony? Why does he have such an interest in the Princess of Friendship? Why does he seek to protect her even at the cost of her happiness and his own?

And what is the force that threatens the young mare's life?
