I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

Underappreciated Author Spotlight: Orbiting Kettle · 12:23am January 18th

I'd been somewhat acquainted with Orbiting Kettle for a while, so I was surprised when I looked him up that he hadn't published anything before 2015. However, what's there is a parade of good stories. Why you should consider following him, after the break.

It was great getting to meet you, too. That was a solid story you wrote, and it deserved a feature.

It's been a while, but I wanted to thank you again for helping me improve my writing and get my first ever EQD feature!

You're the best and I'm glad I got to meet you at the last BronyCon, awkward as I was haha <3

THANK YOU!!!

(And also, you now have a fancier phone than me. I only have an iPhone 6s!)

Sorry to pop your bubble, but I finally got a cell phone about a month ago. One of my big sticking points had been the cost of entry, but there was recently a deal where I could get a free phone by adding a line to wifey's account. It's only an iPhone 7, but the price was right.

Wow, that's a lot of categories you like (and I'm assuming you don't count EqG as anthro). Of what I consider my better stories, I guess I'll say which ones fit those categories so you can pick and choose for variety or whatever.

Serious badass-ish dramas: Ambergris, Control Freak
...but that don't necessarily have happy endings: If Memory Serves, In Bloom, The Good You Might Do

Comedy: A Hiccup in Time, Ragnarok

Stupid/Random Comedy: Naval Gazing, Wasting Time

Stories with a cool twist: Method Acting, A Wish for the Ages
...but that don't necessarily have a happy ending: Where the Heart Is, Surrogate

Slice of Life: The Gift that Keeps on Giving, The Gift of Laughter, The Joys of Homework on Hearth's Warming

Cute slice-of-life children's style stories: Dinkin' Donuts, How Lily Longsocks Spent Hearth's Warming Eve on the Moon

Worldbuilding: umm... I don't do a lot of world-intensive stories. I guess: In the Moon's Platinum Glow

My personal top 5 faves in order are Ambergris, Dinkin' Donuts, If Memory Serves, Roam-Springa, How Lily Longsocks Spent Hearth's Warming Eve on the Moon.

But if I were to suggest a few to hit multiple of your sweet spots, I'd say:
The Gift That Keeps on Giving (slice of life, happy ending, Ponk, Twilight)
Wasting Time (random comedy, Twilight, Starlight)
A Hiccup in Time (comedy, Twilight)
Ragnarok (comedy, Ponk)
The Gift of Laughter (Ponk, friendshipping, happy ending, slice of life)
A Wish for the Ages (worldbuilding, Twilight, happy ending)
Control Freak (badass, Twilight, happy ending)

I like comedy, I like random, I like badass, I like friendshipping, I don't like alternate universe or anthro though you don't seem to write much of those, I like slice of life, I like Ponkers and Twilight and Starlight and Trixie, I like happy endings, I like cool world building. I also like how you're literally the only person I know who doesn't own a cell phone, but that's not really relevant here.
