Some among those of you who, for reasons unfathomable to me, have chosen to pay attention to my profile and my stories will have noticed that Binky Pie has, after five years, finally been set to 'Complete'.

As foretold, it's good to see you again. :)

See you next year. :D

Tempting as it is, I shall avoid getting into a "Who Thanks Who More" contest with you. With your talent, I feel that the important thing is not that you finish this story, but that you write again at all. Should you decide to post non-pony fiction elsewhere, please let us know. You would not be the first writer whom I have followed to other websites.
If you feel that you have written yourself into a corner, then re-write it. Think of it as a writing exercise: "How can these characters make different decisions, decisions that drive the story in another direction, while remaining true to their characterization?" Or poll your readers for suggestions. Or, as was suggested by Raymond Chandler, "When in doubt, have a man pony come through a door with a gun wand (?) in his hand mouth."
And do not underestimate the importance of your wife's influence. Without Robert Lewis Stevenson's wife, the world would not have Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, as she pulled it from the fire where he'd thrown it, believing it not worth saving.
I'm going to stop here, before I mistakenly start to claim some sort of authority over how an author should write. Disregard all else that I have said, but remember this: You are already the writer that has touched and inspired so many.

Your correspondent,

A Pony Of No Importance

Thank you! I do feel quite guilty about abandoning this fic so close to the end (there's what, three chapters left?), and as empty as the promise may seem I do intend to finish it. Life indeed has been busy. I started this story at university, since then I've graduated, been working for two and a half years and three months ago got married.

In fact I probably will finish this story if just for the reason that my wife will nag me if I don't...

I've also been doing a lot of original writing, trying (very slowly) to hash out a proper novel. I was about a fifth of the way through it when my computer deleted it all. And like an idiot I didn't have a back-up. But I'm picking myself up and carrying on with that...

I don't have much to do today (oh joy of joys a day without chores can it be true), so I will try to write a little something on Binky Pie. To be honest I'd written myself into a corner in that last chapter, which was a large part of why I stopped.

ANYWAY I could just carry on making excuses or could actually go write something.

Good morning.
I see that you haven't made any additional progress on Binky Pie since your last blogpost. That is... understandable. The world spins. Our lives change, and sometimes circumstances no longer allow us the privilege of indulging is pursuits that once brought such passion. WE change, as people, sometime such that we no longer recognize the person who first picked up the pen, so long ago.
But know this. Should you never touch this story again, I will remain happy that you granted the portion of it that you did. For myself, I keep a text file of inspirational quotes, and buried in there is this one: "WHAT HOPE DOES THE HARVEST HAVE, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN? IF A PART OF THE CROP IS SICK, SHOULD WE NOT TEND TO IT? IF A PART IS TRAMPLED, DO WE NOT ATTEMPT TO REVIVE IT? IF THE CROP FAILS, DO WE NOT MOURN ITS LOSS? OH, THERE'S NO JUSTICE. BUT THERE IS ME."
Your story has touched and inspired me, Miyajima. Whether you finish it or not, that will never change.
