To answer the authors note, I think when Cure is in a mare form, he should have his pronouns changed to reflect that. To go further, I think his pronouns should reflect whatever form he has chosen, if for no other reason than to cement what the denizens of the world would be seeing and interpreting.
So yeah, what you did here, and with Celestia's bedroom visit in a previous chapter as Sunny, is fine.
Nice.
He doesn't, Celestia. Considering he butchered 'my beautiful' badly enough to be calling you half Bella, whatever that's supposed to mean, I would think that should be obvious.
Love the chapter. Can't wait for more ♥️
It's a bit weird to see pony racism coming out of a child, and is probably reflecting a bit poorly on blueblood sr right now
11866258
It's not weird at all, children have no filter and say what they know, that said, it does reflect poorly on Blueblood Sr.
To answer the author’s note, there are two parts to this and they both stem from the 3rd person limited point of view of whomever is the lead character in the scene.
1) If Cure is the main character in that particular scene, Cure’s pronouns should reflect whatever Cure thinks of himself as at that moment. If Cure turns into a Mare but still regards and refers to himself as a stallion, then he’s a stallion. Cure turns into a mare and refers to herself as a mare, then she’s a mare.
2) If the main character in that particular scene is anyone else, then at this point Cure’s pronouns are whatever best fits said character’s personality. Amethyst (who was the POV character of the scene) found it amusing to think of Cure as a mare therefore female pronouns were fitting.
Of course that is only valid until Cure makes his wishes known otherwise. IE character calls Cure by the wrong pronouns, Cure corrects said character, character then uses Cure’s preferred pronouns.
One other thing to note: this opens up the possibility for other characters aside from Cure to change their gender. Which opens up a lot of potential story avenues both in the near and distant future.

I assume this is in response to Cure and Celestia's planned "Royal Rumble"?
Burninating the countryside! Burninating the peasants! Burninating all the peoples! And their thatched roof cottages! Thatched roof cottages!
11866258
An old play on the three tribes I suspect. Earth ponies were seen as the 'lesser' if I recall.
absolutely lovely chapter ^^
You mean non sequitur?
I really want to see the alicorn throw down. I think they are both underestimating each other, with Celestia's years of experience and lists of spells and Cure's past life knowledge
and cheat abilities.
Oh~ I am exactly split between the coming fight between Cure and Celestia. It's probably a lot more likely for Celestia to win, but I am itching to see Cure's abilities and skills blossom in an uncontrolled situation. 'Can't have Cure's ego getting cut down a peg at every opportunity.
Thou shalt not defile CAKE!
The femCure pronouns worked fine as is. Understanding who was what was simple enough. I think what 11866270 said is about right, POV perspective should drive the descriptors
oh oh in an alicorn fight, I can't wait, finally Cure will use all these preparations he has made throughout the series, and yes attacking him would be stupid, I can even imagine the ponies imprisoning Celestia to go to war for various reasons.
Is he Linkara ?
I think Cure needs some of that SmackDown™ dispensed onto him by Celestia.
Cure better watch it with the hand grooming or certain eldritch (ha!) mares will be demanding it often.
I think you meant elder as in older and wiser, not eldritch as in weird and sinister.
For the pronouns, one option that I think works well is s(he), or (s)he.
I find it confusing to keep track of characters and descriptions, especially ones better portrayed visually. Even more so when said descriptions are of the temporary nature that comes when the characters are literally disposable. Using s(he) or (s)he is an intuitive way to denote that the character itself is portrayed as one gender, but is another in nature. It is also a clear indicator that the disposable character is Cure, as there is no other character here (yet) that makes it possible to portray as one gender, but is another in nature.
I do not have an idea concerning the use of him or her yet, as using h(im)er or him(er) would be way too confusing. Maybe spelling it out like him(her) would be more acceptable, but other than that I dont know.
Having no attack actually occur but letting Cure grouse and fantasize aloud exactly how he would have responded gives us the best of both outcomes.
We get to see the "attempt" with none of the ensuing consequences in reality.
You spoil us as much as Cure spoils Celestia, letting us both have our cake and eat it, too.
And also like Celestia, it only makes me greedier for more.
Thank you for working so hard to deliver this chapter.
11866837
Eldritch here is "ancient" and "magical".
LFOD has used that world multiple times to describe Celestia.
That boi is gonna get such a woopin’
Good chapter. I take great joy in Cure being a pest, and greatly look forward to the Spar.
With his growing emphasis over his domain, I hope the Death Mare would introduce herself to him in the future - especially to remind him the important of Death in the Life Cycle.
Nice
Once Cure is proficient enough, I do hope he shows off by performing a popular musical number involving treadmills.
Pronouns are a matter of perception and perspective. It should be based on the perception of the current perspective. Amethyst saw Cure as a 'she' in that time and was the primary perspective, therefore Cure has feminine pronouns in that section.
Love the chap thx for the update we the comments hope we can help with brain storing ideas for you.
Hehe well maybe it's a good idea to show off those dancing natural skills.
He should have popped his head off cleanly, not just twisted it around LOL. But we suppose the effect was poignant enough for by demonstration. He wasn't the chest? Darn, surely had some puns to make but alas, disguised mare it is.
While disguised as female it makes sense to refer to female pronouns, similar to how referring to the pegasus and unicorn disguises are described as such as well. We know it's Cure and so that's really enough, unless he's questioning his own internal gender or something. That's for later if ever though.
I guess when Celestia got excited over Cure's first proclamation, I should have realized he could and would do it again.
I like how Cure has been giving himself Pinkie-like abilities through clever use of existing publicly available magic and his own talent.
Hammerspace? Just bags of holding, hidden in his mane and under his wings.
Offscreen teleportation? Literally invisibility and teleportation, which an Earth Pony can do with crystals.
Toon physics? Skillful use of his talent. Also, really disturbing outside of a cartoon and presented as such.
He's literally done the Big Gasp before, using his talent to inhale longer than ponyly possible. He could definitely do the Excited Breathless Rant too.
The only thing missing is Pinkie Sense.
...Cure, put down the divination textbook. That wasn't a challenge.
I enjoyed this chapter
Celestia up in arms over theoretical cake defilement was hilarious.
Also can't wait to see Cure get the ego check but also scare Celestia with how durable and frighteningly close he manages to get
11866756
Probably more in line with Lord Dona'tor. Shoutouts to TRG Colosseum.
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
XD
Celestia is gonna fold him like a camping chair.
...Also, now I wanna see him dance his tail off for all those stuck-up unicorns just to make them shut their tribalist muzzles. >.>
Having Cure moan about the lack of an attack, is just as entertaining as the attack itself would be, at least for me it is, with the added benefit of no actual consequences. Much like artofwar77 says in their comment.
Regarding the pronouns, both Cure and Amethyst considered him "dressed" as a mare. It makes sense to me that he then gets referred to as a mare. Pronouns are a matter of perception and perspective. I believe theillustriousq states it better than I would have.
I honestly want to see the Alicorns fight. If not for anything other than to see what true capabilities they both have. I kinda want to see Celestia surprised at Cure true capabilities, perhaps with a drawn out fight. But then again, Cure might as well be asking to fight against a living Sun.
Also, wasn't Cure's Dance routine a family and close friend exclusive activity? Or is he thinking of making an exception for Misty?
If Cure has any of his germs on her before the match, I expect him to take advantage of it. Tia may be smart enough to clean herself up beforehoof, but if she forgets…
I’m so excited for the guard games and to see if any of the officers will back out of the examinations!! Very interested in seeing Cure make some diplomatic contact with the changelings.
Has the new Minos ambassador arrived in Canterlot yet? I imagine he may stop by to say, ‘hello.’ I can see Cure happily entertaining some griffons, too. I hope Lt Spear isn’t too traumatized to have some more fun escorting our guy.
I look forward to Cure busting out his moves for Misty’s class. Will it be classical again or will he slip in some moonwalking styles or punch dance? I’m glad Amethyst is having fun and assume she’ll watch for a laugh.
It was Easter holiday, a time when everyone likes to visit family, not just religious folks. Nobody should be having an issue with that, lol
great chapter as usual, haven't commented on the last few ones, but I always enjoy Cure X Celestia chapters, more so when Cure is in his "creative" mood like scaring the shit out of 2 guard by doing a 360
I just realised that Cure's mega plant could potentially be turned against him. Magic canonically isn't immune to being 'hacked.' Although this has only been shown as due to Discord. Still, the plants in the Everfree are dangerous. Discord's plundervines (while currently dormant) have been shown capable of taking over a unicorn's magic. (See the scene where Rarity's magic is hijacked and used to spill hot tea on her cat).
As such, it could be potentially hazardous if Cure were to attempt to expand his plant into the Everfree and have it infected by some magically charged Everfree superplant. But then again, that much biomass would have a lot of magic to fight back against that sort of infection. But how big can cure's plant grow and does it have any sort of tamper alarms to let him know if part of it is attacked?
Also, is he going to lose access to the plant he left at home if he stays away too long? He only has full control over it because it is magically him. But how would he deal with one of his mega plants once it's stopped being him? He'd only have free access to any pre-programmed functionality at that point, with a higher magic cost to modify things once its no longer part of him.
So the entire guard detachment from Golden Hills is now in Canterlot.
Cure’s family has only one royal guard assigned to them while his royal pestness is in Canterlot for two weeks.
Speaking of, Cure is now in Canterlot for two weeks.
Chrysalis is a power loving moron but she’s not completely unintelligent. Changelings feed on love. And while Cure isn’t the Alicorn of Love, the possibility of feeding on the love an Alicorn has for his family (and especially his dam) has got to be extremely tempting.
And Chrysalis is just smart enough to plan and execute a really stupid idea.
Possible scene:
Cure Wave: “I don’t know whether to be relieved or annoyed.”
Amethyst: “Ponies can feel more than one emotion at once.”
Cure: “Not a single changeling in the higher ups of the royal guard.”
Celestia after taking a sip of her tea: “Yes, it must be incredibly vexing knowing that our nation’s primary means of defense hasn’t been compromised.”
Cure gives Celestia a look.
Celestia: “Secondary line of defense.”
Cure raises an eyebrow.
Celestia: “We’ll discuss the effectiveness of the Royal Guard as our national defense forces at a later date.”
Cure: “I just want to scan one of those love suckers so badly!”
Amethyst: “Well they eat love Cure. Probably not a whole lot of love to be found in the guard barracks. And if they’re trying to keep a low profile, they’d want to feed in a place where love is freely available and easy to obtain on the regular without raising suspicion.”
Cure and Celestia both stare at Amethyst mouths agape as they come to the same conclusion.
Cure: “Celestia…”
Celestia: “No Cure.”
Cure: “But it would be the perfect—“
Celestia: “I said no Cure. We’re not summoning a brothel to the castle. And you’re not scanning everypony inside one from outside it.”
Cure throws up his hooves: “Fiine!”
A green unicorn with an orange mane—one of the palace servants Cure has seen 100 times since he first came to Canterlot—enters the room with a cart full of treats.
Servant: “More blueberry scones, your highness?”
Celestia: “Thank you, Crackle. This is just what I need.”
Crackle: “Of course. And a slice of apple pie for Lady Amethyst.”
Amethyst: “With a dollop of whipped cream on top! I absolutely love these!”
Crackle: “And freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for the prince.
Cure huffs in annoyance, still looking at the ground.
Amethyst: “Cure. Be nice.”
Cure looks up at Crackle and accepts the tray of cookies she’s levitating and grumbles out a thank you. As he starts to lower his head, Crackle turns away. Out of the corner of his eye, Cure spots the green mare’s cutie mark.
A ladybug above three leaves.
Cure bolts upright in an instant. “Uh Crackle?”
Crackle: “Yes your highness?”
Cure: “This is probably really late to ask, but what is your last name?”
Celestia facehoofs while Amethyst chuckles to herself.
Crackle chuckles. “It’s perfectly fine your highness. My last name is Cosette.”
Cure Wave: “Your name is Crackle Cosette.”
Crackle: “That’s right.”
Cure Wave: “That’s a lovely name.”
Crackle: “Thank you your highness.”
Cure fires the strongest stun spell he can at Crackle, causing her to slam into the far wall.
Both Celestia and Amethyst react accordingly to the colt who just blasted a servant for seemingly no reason.
Cure Wave: “It’s her.”
Cure barely has time to put a shield up between Anethyst and Crackle before a green blast of magic is launched from Crackle’s horn towards this mom.
Celestia turns to look at Crackle in a new light. “No…”
Green fire erupts from Crackle while the mare laughs. After the fire disappears, Queen Chrysalis stands before Celestia and Cure.
Chrysalis: “Yes. Hello Celestia. Did you miss me?”

Cure will either do the final dance to dirty dancing or he’ll bust out one of Michael Jackson’s dance routines. Possibly Thriller.
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!
You heard it here first folks, the first inaugural ALICORN DEMOLITION MATCH!
Our glorious rulers will be having a duel, but at the same time they will also be competing for the prestigious award of MOST COLLATERAL DAMAGE!
While our Princess seems like a ringer for that prize (at least) due to the raw energy of her legendary sunfire projection, many hopefuls are putting their bets on the new Prince, as Mother Nature has reliably demonstrated her own wrath across history, and Serpentus is no wayward son! Theorycrafters across the nation have been predicting what biological horrors our newest Alicorn will project with the most wide-area destructive potential, and apparently the best odds are on wide scale growth which then produces a gas or liquid spread over the area. Either by directly causing harm or punishing an ignition stimulus, these ponies earnestly believe that the Prince will lay more waste in the end, even if he personally gets wasted by the Icon of the Sun!
Remember folks, tune in for live coverage and live odds!
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!

Oh Celestia is definitely underestimating Cure. But probably not anywhere near as much as Cure is underestimating Celestia.
I do wonder if the fight will be taken seriously by Celestia. Cure will probably give it everything he’s got from the get go, which might throw Celestia off guard.
If I remember the prior chapters correctly, Cure doesn't need to physically touch someone to affect them with his special talent. He just does that to keep folks calm whenever he uses it, and I don't recall if Cure ever told Celestia that; so he just might get the jump on her at the very beginning of the spar if she gets too cocky.
Celestia seems oddly unaware of the scope of his abilities. Who's to say he can't just command your heart to stop beating, Celestia? I have a feeling he's gonna give her a wallop.
While I can foresee some tactics such as a surprise poisoning having a temporary effect, and if it works fast enough it may be effective enough, I cant think of anything organic surviving a fraction of the temperature of the sun.
The only effective tactic I believe Cure would have is if he directly starts altering Celestia's body with his magic which would not be... pleasant, even if he shuts off her nerves first.
All and all if they were to go all out with actual kill moves it would be down to who could pull the trigger first. In a direct open duel Celly would most likely win 9 times out of 10, but in terms of stealth and surprise Cures got a major advantage, at least aspect wise. Say what you will about the sun, subtle it is not. Not to say she doesn't have other things up her sleeve.
All and all most likely cures gonna get trounced, but gonna pull out some surprises before he loses that will pull lil miss sunshine though a loop. Or hell maybe Cure will pull a fast one and set everything up before the duel officially begins. A "ready, set... and she's down." Kind of deal.
Though I doubt either of them will be bringing their big guns, cant imagine celestia stopping by to cures family and say "hi, sorry I kinda killed your son, but dont worry he'll be back by this time next week". Or cure having to explain why he's standing over Celestia's body when guards turn up for training or when wondering why she's late for her scheduled appointments.
11867578
He might not be able to directly affect her with his talent and he likely doesn't bet on such possibility either. As I recall, magic of other ponies resists his intrusion passively to an extent, so it may completely block his ability when used actively. Celestia should be able to block it. So, he'll have to actually do something to attack her from outside. Something tells me that incapacitating her won't be trivial. She's very likely immune to poisons and may hold breath for hours. There's obvious vector of attack on eyes, but not sure he'll use it.
He may end up with a choice of using something excessively nasty on her which may damage her brain or forfeit to avoid subjecting her to that and potentially turning her into a vegetable (for a while).
11867711
He's already shown capability to alter her body's bloodstream to delay the effects of alcohol with no resistance on her behalf. We won't know for sure but I have a feeling the alicorn of LIFE will probably be able to do a number on her biology even with her resistances. Guess we'll find out!
