Nice. The Monday update. Just in time before I need to head off to work.
A grade A, Rockefeller...
Yay! The update is here!
Now to read it.
803k words in less than a year thats over 10000 words per chapter thats more than 1 chapter each week thats about 1500 each day this Is a Man of Focus, Commitment and Sheer Goddamn Will.
thanks!!!
awesome chapter ^^
why do i have a feeling that this marcis maryland ore his son will make trubble in some way
phe noble's -.-
Got a spelling mistake or two, though looking for the second one I can't find it. Batlimare is the one though, you want Baltimare. Unless the city is indeed populated by bats.
Every single time I write that, I need to look up if it's each other’s or each others'.
great chapter as always with new Cure shenanigans, more so with his innuendos

There's always at least a couple. I fixed some just shortly after publishing, so maybe I beat you to it. I'd be surprised if Baltimare isn't wrong several times throughout the story. Obviously autocorrect wants to make it Baltimore, so I have to watch for that. Any other misspelling is easier to miss as a result.
In this particular instance, though, perhaps it should be Batlimore. Cure and Song are clearly conspiring to take over with his eventual reinforcements from Hollow Shades, after all. It's no wonder Merryland is being a jerk; he recognizes the future threat while it's still developing.

I haven't mathed it all out, but the per week count through the end of the Canterlot arc was... well, "unhealthy" comes to mind, frankly. It's not much better since I started doing one chapter per week, but... yeah. There are points where I'm pokin away at the story and look up to realize it's like three hours later and I've written like twenty pages.
I blame the voices that are compelling me; I'm fairly confident if I stop at this point several vessels in my nose may rupture and the eldritch entity that's taken refuge in my brain will happily keep typing away with sanguineous hands despite my slumped body.
11634566
we thank the voices in your head for giving us Cure
on a side note... i think we should pull a small fundraiser to get the story a proper cover
Thinking too small, Cure. Gang a bunch together, send the power through a transmission to get higher gears and more speed. Or spin a generator at a constant rate, charge up capacitors and batteries, and power an electric motor. Or even keep the transmission idea, go for high speed, duct it, add a heat crystal, and hey presto you have a jet turbine.
Hah, that get a giggle out of me : )
Yeesh, Cure is scary. He's like a cute and fluffy eldritch horror : )
11634601
well he did do bunny cure and the horror on the train... that is the power of cure

Heroes among us
I feel like given his earlier jab at Solar, this comes off a bit too much like double entendre.
I think this might be the first typo I've seen in a while
Feuding, got the eu the wrong way round
Awesome chapter! Cant wait until next Monday to see what’s next.
What? No AN

Not to mention some art of a few characters would be nice, I always have trouble rembering what they look like
Why hasn’t anyone thought of an automobile yet that uses a magitech motor?
Also, I wonder if props are what he should use vs superheating raw air via magic and using that for thrust?
(I really REALLY want to see him build an aircraft for his filly friend)
I feel like Cure's date plan could backfire in a way that he doesn't consider as a possibility: one of them could potentially like the constant limelight.
Misty is going to talk to Crosswind’s sister. Not sure if that will endear her to his friendship or not.
Baltimare’s mayor seems cool. Marquis not so much; not a good tone to set with an immortal pony.
Our hero’s first date! That will be very informative for everyone.
Birthing Season soon!! I hope the family will be safe traveling.
11634516
Ponies/people like that are just opportunities for us to see who Cure really is.
He isn't, we see, a pony who would turn them inside out and then heal them back to normal just to prove a point.
He elects to do better, to be better.
He would rather flirt with cuties and amuse us with ribald humor and innovative applications of his knowledge & talent.
11633397
I mean, Cure doing the things he always calls cheating.
Awesome chapter!
11634767
For the same reason a fair few of Cure's simpler innovations weren't a thing before. Magical research had long stagnated in a progress-strangling mire of preconceived notions. New spells were being made of course, but nothing was being done to further the understanding of magic. Either they found themselves subscribing to the real-life notion that 'it's magic, you ain't gotta explain shit' despite magic being an actual force that actually effects the world around them, or unicorn scholars convinced either themselves or the world that they knew all there was to know about magic.
I don't think we've learned yet if the standards of magic from before Cure were due to some kind of conspiracy or not, have we? Celestia might have denied it at one point, I forget, but even if she did I wouldn't be surprised if we find a cut to some cliché secret meeting in the dark at the end of some future chapter.
11634566
Yeah, found another one -
> His sire, sensing his the colt’s distress
I bet Cure could make an equivalent to capsule corp in scroodge mcduck earnings and societal impact
11634566
"provide thrust with sthe gears or something." is the second one I found.
And yeah, when I was trying to point out the errors, the autocorrect was changing my suggestions to just Baltimore twice. Good ol' phone autocorrect, at least my pc doesn't do that.
As for a population of bats, I am all for that, I love those ponies. And Merryland can live elsewhere if he has a problem.
11634789
I think they know him and are smart enough to know that doing anything to endanger his family by drawing undue attention by blowing his plans for a bit of fame is a sure way to get on his shit list and ruin their friendship, probably forever, or worse if it did cause someone to get hurt however unlikely that would be.
Called
I think the other one I noticed first read was already fixed, can’t see it now
>Otherwise, or for the other tribes, the proper salute bears an unfortunate resemblance to an infamous one from Edward’s memories.
Based.
11634804
Agreed, both the Marquis and his son are giant douchebags.
I'm kinda hoping that they end up encountering Cure Wave again after his coronation and him effectively being a legitimate prince at that point and they end up butting heads with him.
I'd love seeing those two getting either put in their place by Cure, or Celestia finding out about it and instead putting them in their places herself.
God that would be so satisfying.
11634430
This man has incredible motivation, Virgil would truly be most pleased with him.
11634516
In my experience from most stories, most nobles, as a rule, are overly entitled, snobbish ass hats. Ones who thinks the entire world owes them something, and those that aren't that way are the exception to the rule.
11634964
At some point Celestia said that in the past teaching more magic to earth ponies and pegasi was tried but they refused to learn or allow their children to learn it. Presumably out of a mix of stubbornness and mistrust of "fancy unicorn magic" after the unification. She also admitted ignorance of some of the things Cure had discovered so I'm not sure any conspiracy was necessary to stagnate magical advancement.
I imagine it would be pretty easy to go from 'non unicorns refuse to go to CSGU to learn magic' to an implied 'non unicorns are not allowed to go to CSGU' over a few generations with fairly minimal pressure from some nobles. Though you would think there would probably be outliers that would have tried to learn what they could of magic anyway. So maybe a bit of both conspiracy and general societal pressure make the most sense.
*I don't
Half-surprised that Cure didn't go "I wish, buddy" at the notion of him not being an alicorn.
11635268
yes exactly right, i see we have the same viewpoint here ^^
I see word is spreading among the nobility about who exactly Serpentus is. And they definitely are non to pleased with this development.
One of them is going to blab. Maybe not the Marquis or his son (Uncle Lucky threatened them, and promises were implied by Grandpa Brick and Cure) but one of the nobility is going to talk.
Assuming of course Cure’s own actions don’t reveal him first.
I wonder if he caught that his and Deeds’s stories don’t align. On top of everything else he told that family, in addition to their daughters being in the same classes as two of Cure’s friends, there is enough to raise plenty of suspicion about why Cure was in Canterlot meeting the Princess.
11635499
Whoever does end up flapping their yapper, I seriously pity the poor, poor, unfortunate idiot.
I'm pretty sure that one of Celestia's orders was to respect Cure Wave's/ Prince Serpentus' privacy, and I'm pretty sure that someone running their mouth to somebody else and blowing his "civilian/true identity," doesn't count as that.
Though it does count as one of her personal orders being very blatantly disobeyed, to the potential detriment of a fellow Alicorn on top of that, and that is fairly likely going to result in an extremely unhappy Sun Butt.
When she eventually finds out who blabbed first and blew Cure's identity, and I'm fairly sure a properly angered Celestia won't be satisfied or relent until she does, they are going to have to be facing down what is effectively a very angry Sun Goddess, and I just don't see that situation ending very well for them.
Especially if they so happen to actually end up being a noble, seeing as how they report directly to Celestia, or a reporter, as she will most likely not be very lenient with either one of those two potential perpetrators.
The only exception I could see to her incoming wrath, would be a colt or filly, as she would not punish a child, at least not too severely.
Though I'd imagine that they would, at the very least, get a very stern talking to from her, along with Celestia's patented "I'm so incredibly disappointed with you," look that she is quite well known for in some other fanfics.
Imagine when Deed begins studding Cure gives him some more ‘upgrades’; “Ok dad, feel this muscle? That’s the left side. This one’s the right side. Now, when you finish, pull the right side and the male sperm in the right testicle will be the only baby batter you will give the girl. Pull the left and the female sperm from your left testicle will go. Relax both sides and she’ll have a 50/50 chance for a colt or filly. Don’t outright tell the Dam’s, but talk to them a little and if you think they deserve the choice, you can hook them up.”
11634730
I can’t agree more!
11635229
I want to see a conversation between Celestia and Cure, where Cure points out that the villains of MLP, even in this more realistic one, rarely hold a candle to Human one’s.
I have a idea the sclera having compound eye also check out The Amazing (and Deadly) Science of Jumping Spider Vision YouTube
11635951
Assuming they ever reach that level of trust/candor, one comparison could be "How long since the last murder/equicide occurred?" He might get an answer in days, weeks, months or longer.
"Oh, we measured ours in murders per day. In some of the really bad neighborhoods per hour."
It's funny imagine telling someone your reading a book about a old guy getting reincarnated in a pony world. Then tell them about how he's taking pre-teens on dates and calling them babe. It's takes a real left turn and is funny and terrible at the same time.
11636192
Then you're only telling them about a book that's missing some important details or just wrong details. Cuz this book has a child inherit memories of an old man, which then in turn adjusts their personality and basically becoming a being that's running adult software on child hardware. Then you consider the environment, relatively early maturity, expectations of males and then it really doesn't seem all that terrible anymore.
The other thing about having power over others was mentioned in the story earlier, and it's why he specifically doesn't entertain the idea of courting anyone until everyone else is much older than they are now. Harmless flirting is still fine to engage in tho, especially when most parties seem to know about in the first place. (Sex isn't taboo here like it is on earth so talking about it isn't weird)
