Oooh, the plot had been thickened! Nice chapter, and quite an enjoyable story so far! : )
Perhaps it was one of those paranoid mages
Honestly, it's probably a good thing the trees were stolen. Now he knows for certain that someone is up to something foul.
SMH can't have shit in detrot it seems :P
While it sucks that somepony is actually out to get cure (or atleast his hard work) i feel bad for their next attempt as it's given cure a provable reason to put his more paranoid plans into play. Can't wait for cure to go all Plants vs Zombies against home intruders
I'm kind of surprised Cure didn't put any security on those plants. But since I didn't consider ponies stealing them like that, he probably didn't either. Thing is, those plants could be quite a weapon if you say made say pony blood what the antibodies went after. You don't want something like that out there.
With how patient Cure is, I'd honestly be somewhat terrified to find out what would make him go full-on Tyranid on somebody.
I know it's cliche to say, but what a twist! Bravo on a great chapter. This really sets up for a change of things to come.
Still think Cure is a conspiracy nut?
Absolutely an amazing story. I think I've read this 4 times now over the last 6 weeks and I always look forward to seeing the next chapter.
Keep it up, its amazing
Cure: I KNEW IT...well that's a relief, someone IS out to get me
Ah, the Feynman method of trolling. "People often think I'm a faker, but I'm usualy honest, in a certain way - in such a way that often nobody believes me!"
Thanks for the update!
If either Celestia or one of the wizards in the capital stole em, there will be several instances of SEVERE PAIN.
Another good chapter. His panacea trees kidnapped by a mystery 3rd party with several possible connections with barely a clue as to which it could be. That mixed with the rapidly approaching royal meeting leaves me eager to read the next few chapters.
Cure's casual alterations for party tricks reminds me of an ancient webcomic where biomancy is briefly mentioned. I roughly remember Its practitioners as being considered weirdos because they would do things like put eyeballs in their hands because it was funny. Dominic Deegan was the comic I think.

Well, as the old saying goes, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you.
Honestly a little surprised Cure didn't break that one out.
The thick plotens! I think it's either one of the mages, or changelings. I'm not exactly certain what Chryssie would do with anti-viral trees, but I just have a feeling.
Third theory is that someone desperate to save a loved one overheard somehow, and decided to nick them. Pretty clichè, but again, ponies.
Can't wait for the next chapter!
Seriously, I can't wait. I need the next chapter now! Please they have my family!!11511644
ha!, you are not the only one ;D
uuhh i wonder who did it, its like a mystery murder game :D
first major conflict ark introduction ?

hurting his little siblings will do it for shure
Hearts and Hooves may be soon? It’s March in the story. I don’t know the in-universe date for it. Two months till Canterlot. Summer Sun and spring estrus in between. Lots of fun coming up!
No special mention as to who made this explicit exclamation. I think it was Heavy and many -if not all- the fillies.
Cure never advertised the type of fuel / fertilizer those plants used. They may not last long. I want to imagine they cannot be weaponized before they die.
11511576
Fears are confirmed and the Guard will be on alert. Archmages perhaps? I wonder if the Boss Lady will move any pieces around to ensure Cure’s safety? An undercover agent, perhaps? We haven’t been introduced to Deed’s new hire yet… could be an agent…
Cure needs to add a anchoring mechanism to the plants, that way they can't go 'missing'. Maybe some sort of sticky roots that takes an hour to deattach themselves after a trigger is feed to it
THE PLOT THICKENS!!!! Yeah Cure is going to be insufferable about conspiracies now. XD
11511846
I agree. As soon as they said a nice unicorn replied to their "help wanted" I immediately thought they would actually be Minder/Spy/Agent working for someone else.
I'd worry that that smart-ass mouth of his would get his arse beat 1 day, if he wasn't able to heal the damage and turn his attackers into pony pretzels.... maybe even literally, like petrification only edible.
---------------------------
That just made me think of Cure as Alex Jones; "They're putting chemicals in the water, to turn the freakin' griffins GAY!!"
-----------------------------
Neither is Cure! *ba-dump-tish*

I don't think that's possible since the plants are designed to (alternatively) take in a sample of blood and generate a cure for virii in the sample. If the blood was clean or mixed samples of clean blood, it just wouldn't do anything.
That said, there's always the chance some knucklehead with magic or enough cutie-mark power to go mucking with the plant's design and turn it into a biohazard-- no different than someone taking a car and pulling the fuel rail out to cause a fire and explosion.
I do hope they catch the scumbag who swiped the plants, however. And if it was some government agency (acting beyond their orders to leave Cure & company alone), there's gonna be hell to pay. Although that doesn't sound too likely since he was quite perturbed when they swiped his supercrops and let the Big Lady know about it.
11511603
I suspect a cross between the Alien movie and ‘The Thing’ movie.
11511931
That being stated: Unless Cure decides to be a completely static character, he’s going to get hit by someone, someday.
I suspect that he’s been given a pass due to literally still being a child. A smart child with a cutie mark, yes, but a child all the same.
If he decides to lip off to the wrong Earth pony later in life… He’ll going to be chucked into/off of a mountain.
11512016
Except that he’s guaranteed to be as much bigger or stronger as he needs to be to be the one doing the mountain chucking. “Later in life,” anyway.
How long before Great Grandpa Brick and co. are informed about the theft and decide to turn the underworld upside down searching for the culprits? Do they then bring the perpetrators to Cure for healing & atonement or let them suffer the pain of their injuries incurred “tripping over the curb” naturally healing processes
First of all, I want to say I'm loving the story, it's really great and you're doing the "high power protagonist without the feeling like a sue character" really well!
That being said I did want to bring up something I found a bit odd in this chapter, not necessarily a criticism but just something that felt odd.
So I get that Cure can just make more trees so it's not an overly big deal that those ones are gone but he seems really calm for a guy that blew up into a rage, almost walked out of his "job", was frankly rather nasty in the way he talked and then got into a argument with his family when someone asked him to sign a HR form.
Like I get the HR mare brought up the form at a bad time and technically the incident wasn't totally his fault but the difference in anger between "this argument between kids was your fault, please sign here" and "someone stole what you have been working on for 3 months and basically confirmed your fears that someone is out to get you/your work" just seems a oddly proportioned comparatively.
Now I'm not saying I want Cure to get murderously angry or something, of course, it's just the difference in anger levels between the two events that is throwing me.
Although, to be fair, him blowing up a few chapters back seemed really odd to me when I read it so maybe this feeling is an extension of that event rather than how chill he is being in this situation as this is arguably more how I expect him to act given how he's acted in most situations in the past, other than the aforementioned HR debacle of course.
But yeah, as I said, I'm still really loving the story and can't wait to see more so I hope this doesn't come across negatively or anything, it's just something I noticed and wanted to mention in case I'm just totally misunderstanding the situation.
P.S Also yikes, sorry for the massive comment wall.
Would Cure pull a Scorn and temporarily turn the perpetrator into a tree by bursting their innards through their chest? With them being alive and all, of course; the perfect way to mentally scar and deter future actions against Cure.
I see a potential issue in Savvy and Cure's future. I hope she doesn't feel like being overshadowed by Cure's achievements like Celestia and Luna
Celestia is gonna be mad. Two strikes against cure bow for doing nothing but help, the complaint, and now the theft. And what's worse, now the guards he super charged are feeling shown up. Angry super guards.
11512016
Even if he's chucked off a mountain, he can just grow wings and fly!
Oh dear.... I find it somewhat concerning that cure is acting so calm after the theft of what he had been working tirelessly to create. I have a feeling that he is beyond anger right now. I hope that the guards find the perp before cure dose, because if they don't.... they won't ever find them...
11512155
It could be Trollestia all along I can totally see her testing Cure to see how mature he is and if he'll stay responsible with his powers under stress.
My guess is that the trees were stolen by some Flim & Flam kind of character who's looking to plagiarize Cure's hard work. Someone who thinks they can sell the trees off as their own and doesn't realize just how deep Cure's connections are. It would be funny if they were to run into the thief when they go to Canterlot, catching them in the act trying to sell 'their' invention for mad profit.
11512082
Oh that’s a good point! That “family” business model would find the perpetrator for sure.
Hmm... If Equestria has an equivilant to Big Pharma, there's your culprit, pharmacy companies sabotaging legitimate research into cures is a tale as old as the industry itself.
My guess is what, an archimage or someone else on Celestias staff stole it? I can only imagine the conversation one they're found out.
Celly: "So let me get this straight, not only did you steal a pair of trees that could potentially save over a hundred l thousand lives per year
You stole it from an 8 year old child?"
Culprit: "W-well you see y-your highne-"
Celly:" Thousand years, dungeon. I'm sure Cure Wave will ensure you serve your full sentence"

or a changeling
I the reader really likes this story the writer did I the reader could not resist re-reading it
I the reader only re-electeds story's that really really good this is only the third one
I love it when Cure decides to show off some of his 'tricks' because they show just how much potential Cure has and frankly how terrifying his abilities are. I would not be too surprised if one Nightmare Night he decided to show up as a friendlier-lookin' Xenomorph just to scare the living daylight out of all those sun loving faces.
Something brought up in the most recent chapters has also brought about a more horrific path that someone far less friendly than Cure could have taken. We know there is a point where parts of him stop being him but then at what point do other things start to become part of him? We know stuff he eats becomes apart of him once processed but could there be other forms of collecting biomass? Could Cure theoretically be on the same level as The Thing and absorb others with but a touch? If so I'd like to be the first to flee before 'The Wave' comes to collect all our yummy biomass.
Only a moron would steal something so unique and experimental. It'll be hard to sell it off because the buyer might as well paint a giant target on their back. Every guard, agent, spy, and whatever else is going to know to look for fancy little miracle trees.
They haven't even been put through testing, which means that it could backfire horribly- and in turn, seeking help would be equal to admitting to a crime. Unless the culprit is planning on burning the damn things, it's just a stupid idea to do anything with them. Of course, this is all assuming that it's not some super villain behind it. Which I doubt.
Wonder where they'll pop up?

Kinda sounds like someone wants to protect their interests in medicine. Destroying the plant, is likely the point.
Trauma is a slow healing, long-term reliance on the medical industry. Just the guys in control of the medical gauze markets would be furious with that plant. Throw in stitching, long-term rehab, and all the jobs devoted to making sure things are healing right, and you've suddenly got a cabal that would love nothing more for the kid to scram.
Industries with hundreds of millions of dollars/bits of investment and infrastructure just made redundant, in a week. There are elements that want that kid GONE. I imagine the story's about to ramp up, in tone. Might also explain the increasing time for new chapters.
This is gonna be good.
11516821
That makes a lot of sense, now that I think about it. I'd say 'why didn't I think of that', but I tend to read at night right before bed. And I'm kinda stupid too, but let's pretend I'm not. Oh well. As terrible as it is, everything- even something as absolutely necessary and sacred as the art of healing- can and will have greedy elements that want to maintain status quo...
Looks like the plant's getting a bit crispy then.
Catch that thief!
The only thing I dislike about this story so far is when eating Meat comes up. Pegasi eating fish is a dumb fanon. If anything, they'd eat seeds. It seems a lot of people forget about the very existence of nuts and seeds.
Having cow milk and eggs doesn't make sense either. Cows, unless specifically bred, don't produce extra milk. Since they're also sapient here, why the hell would they do any of that?
Guess the author didn't want to commit to ponies being herbivores, which is a shame. It's kinda gross reading about ponies consuming animal products that, in our reality, are produced with much cruelty and abuse that the author also has previously handwaved away.
11685037
As if I am unaware that the writer can choose to write whatever they want. If they want, they can make ponies carnivorous and eat only babies.
Did you not specifically see that I said "I dislike"? Focus on I.
