A Nonpareil Story

Long ago, the Crystal Empire, led by Sombra, and the changelings clashed. The Empire won, throwing the changelings into disarray, destroying their home and taking their Heart, the source of their love. Now the changelings learn that the Legacy of Hatred is more than a myth, and that Sombra is returning. He remembers a confidence shared, a betrayal done, and a vengeance wrought against him.

The changeling that betrayed him is long gone, but her descendant remains.

Chrysalis rules a fractured people, and she sees only one chance to save them.

Broken and beaten after the failed Canterlot invasion, Chrysalis desperately searches for a way to save her hive. The answer comes to her in the form of an ancient spell that allows travel to other worlds. Starving, feeling left with little choice in a world that despises and fears them, Queen Chrysalis and her Changelings pack their metaphorical saddlebags and ship off into the unknown.

The world they discover is unlike any other. Strange and powerful creatures inhabit the land; not only that, but they also find themselves imbued with new powers. Even better—love is abundant and easy to obtain: all they have to do is fight for their lives in arena-style tournaments, enter beauty pageants, musicals, and other demeaning activities.

As Chrysalis and her ’lings adapt to this new world, they must also be careful. This new paradise comes with its fair share of dangers: other monsters competing for affection, unkind masters, and even an organisation that would seek to enslave and experiment on them.

What started as a harmless game, quickly turns into a life-threatening nightmare. The only chance she has at stopping this horror is to confront the very man that started it; Peter.

When a high-level spell targets Fluttershy one lazy afternoon, she is shocked to learn that it was a creature from another world, attempting to contact her. At first Fluttershy is embarrassed, and her friends are skeptical at best, yet she feels certain that this could be a good opportunity to teach the creature something about kindness. As she relays these experiences to her friends, she realizes that she might be learning something as well.
