Residents of Equestria wake up one morning only to realize that they have lost their ability to either see, hear, or speak. Everypony is afflicted, including Twilight and her friends.

This occurs during the same instant that Canterlot Castle loses contact with Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru--The Wise Monkeys from the East.

Surely... this can't be a coincidence?

Pinkie somehow knows that there are free donuts to be had in the human world, and convinces Twilight Sparkle to send her there. It goes downhill after that.

Lightning Dust's dream of being a Wonderbolt is on the verge of collapse. Just moments ago, she was the standout among this year's enlisted cadets.

She left the academy dejected, her confidence shattered. Still, she knew what she had to do. This would not stand. She would overcome being discharged from the academy.

Little did Lightning Dust know that her resolve would betray her, causing her to become her own worst enemy.

The suppressed thoughts, feelings and fears that lurk in the back of one's mind can manifest themselves into the most horrifying of dreams. And Lightning Dust is about to find herself locked in a dream she cannot escape from, one that she can't control.

Once a year, the Townsend occurs. It is a weeklong tradition held by all of Equestria where, for a full week, everypony falls into a very deep -- almost comatose -- state. Nopony knows why or how it happens. It just does. So far, nopony has found any consequences to this strange occurence.

Then, one year, ponies start to go missing.

Then, the next year, more ponies start to go missing. Every year after, some ponies just seem to poof, and are never seen again. Nopony knows what happens to them, and those who try to learn, disappear.

Jazz is a very regular pony. In fact, there's nothing special about her at all. She has many good friends, a crush, even a well-respected family. She lives an average life in the little town of Stableside. That is, until she is unable to fall asleep the night of the Townsend.

This starts a series of events that will shatter Equestria forever.

Follow Jazz, as she embarks on the journey of her life. Just what secrets do the Townsend hold?
