While on a week-long vacation at one of Equestria's quickly becoming popular vacation spots, Lunar Bay, the town where the night sky is rumored to be the most spectacular in the entire kingdom, Applejack is surprised to learn that Twilight and Rainbow plan to spend it in no different way than if they had stayed back in Ponyville. Applejack has easy solution to fix that, a friendly bet with the new alicorn and pegasus. A bet that may spark something new between the two ponies.

This is a prequel to Her little Rainbow.

When Trixie decides to try and steal back the alicorn amulet from Zecora and fail Twilight decides to teach her a lesson in friendship from the start.

Twilight Sparkle is called upon to negotiate trade arrangements with the griffons. Of course, all her friends join her for what should be a casual pleasure cruise in the airship Canvas Streak. After all, this is her first REAL test as a princess, and why shouldn't they support her?

Late one night, though, Applejack feels restless and goes up on deck to watch the stars. She considers her life. She considers her family. She considers her friends. She considers the freak storm approaching from the south.

In retrospect, it might have been better to let the crew handle that and head back below deck.

Now alone on a small island, Applejack must survive and wait for her friends to come pick her up... even though the freak storm is blocking them off. Surviving's easy. Waiting's easy too! She can do this.

....she can do this....

How long can two ponies exist in a single mind? It’s a race against time as they search for answers before it’s too late. When all is said and done, you’ll never look at Twilight Dash the same way again.

It was a simple teleport spell. So why did she wake up in the hospital? And how come she was... one pony?

The boredom of Thursday evenings gets to Twilight Sparkle, and she decides to create a fun meet-at-home club.

The problem is that she doesn't create a book club. Seriously Twilight. You're a librarian. I mean, come on. Book club didn't occur to you?

Sigh... no. Twilight's idea is Cauldron Club! Yes, Cauldron Club! Cute name for a potentially catastrophic alchemical disaster, isn't it? Now anyone with a desire to dabble in the arcane and... disturbingly reactive world of potion-making can gather in a single place to celebrate their mad science harmless hobby!

Potion-making can be a dangerous hobby, Twilight. More-so if that hobby is shared. What could go wrong?

Oh, and... bring your own cauldron.

This story takes place between "Keep Calm and Flutter On," and "Magical Mystery Cure," and so features unicorn Twilight.

Trouble is, while Twilight is a grown up, independent pony who has saved the world (At least three times) Her parents still treat her like she's a filly.
Her father is going through a mid-life crisis.
And her mother is trying to set her up with every single stallion in Equestria.
